We were thrilled with the charm and amenities of Pine Tree Lodge. Gorgeous lake and Adirondack mountain views from the deck, screened porch, and vaulted master BR. The set-up for our rowing shells was just about perfect: we launched from a small portable dock resting on the rock ledge; no moving or unrigging all week! Our cat loved the peace and quiet and spent most of her day basking in the sun in the master BR. (The other BRS are charming, exposed pine wall vintage beauties.) The area offers dozens of beautiful, pastoral bicycle routes (easy to challenging) and easy access to interesting towns (Shelburne, Vergennes) and a great local restaurant (Starry Night Cafe). We spent most evenings relaxing in the large living room (cozy leather chair and sofa, stone fireplace). Grill set up is easy; we cooked out most nights. Only downside is the vintage sink in the kitchen, which needs new enameling, and the hard, hard water, which occasionally smells of sulphur. No worries on drinking water though: 5-gallon bottles of fresh spring water are always on tap. Thank you so much, Peter, for allowing us to enjoy this wonderful place. It was the best vacation we've had in years. We hope to come back next summer -- maybe for a couple of weeks! Would love to have a chance to use the sauna, too.
