Photos and Description of the Lenox vacation house rental
4 bedroom, 4 full bathrooms, sleeps 8

This historic Lenox beauty is a mere four block walk to the town's center and a stone's throw to Tanglewood. Built in 1892 by E.E. Parsons, the home is reminiscent of a bygone era with lazy summers spent on the

wrap-around porch greeting neighbors and passersby. E.E. Parsons daughter married into the Kennedy family, for which the town's nature preserve, Kennedy Park, is named. The property on which the house stands today abuts the 180-acre park, with its extensive network of groomed trails and scenic overlooks. Access to the park is right out the back door.

This piece of Lenox history was lovingly restored to its original grandeur between 2005-2007. A complete update of the services, systems, interior, exterior, as well as new bathrooms and kitchens, were executed under the discriminating direction of the home's owner/designer. Quality workmanship, with an emphasis on authenticity, abounds throughout this 4 bedroom/4 bath Victorian home.

Interior : The interior appointments in this property: Gleaming, restored hardwood floors throughout the first floor; Plush 100% wool carpeting on the second floor; Granite countertops, energy star stainless appliances and custom cabinetry in the kitchen; Baths have either a combination of hardwood floors with ceramic tiling and/or tumbled marble; Built-in custom cabinetry in the bedrooms.

Exterior: A great location: 2 minutes to Tanglewood; Walk to town; Abutting the nature preserve; Four minutes to gourmet food shopping; A lovely and private rear bluestone patio surrounded by a dry-laid rock retaining wall and beautiful perennial gardens; A rocking chair, wrap-around porch.

About Laura Fetherolf

Hi All,

I originally grew up in Orange County, NY in a community very similar to the Berkshires. Upon graduation, I moved to New York City where I began a 20-year career in the travel industry. During the course of those years, I worked in nearly every aspect of travel with a discriminating clientele.

My husband and I moved to the Berkshires in 1998 and purchased an historic, four family building in Great Barrington, which I converted to short term, furnished vacation and corporate rental business. I ran that business for 12 years, with great success.

In 2004, we purchased this Lenox beauty, which required an extensive gut renovation. Between 2005-2007, we rebuilt this house from foundation to chimney. At this point, I studied and passed my Massachusetts Real Estate and Construction Supervisor exams. I now work for Berkshire Property Agents in Great Barrington - the number 1 sales agency in South County for two years running - and have my own development business, Green Gables.

In 2008, I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC breast cancer. Through drive, research and commitment, I beat it in six months - without surgery. I have started a non-profit. WIN (Women's Integrative Network) to enlighten women struggling with cancer about options and tools available to them utilizing integrative medicine.

In 2011, I turned my attention to the renovation of our historic multi-family building in Great Barrington, which I spearheaded as designer, developer and general contractor. The building is now on the market as four gorgeous and spacious (1100-1600 SF) condominiums, located four blocks to town on a quiet, dead end street.

With my background in the service industries of hospitality and travel, as well as design and construction, I know what travelers want - comfort, convenience, cleanliness, dependability and location.

Laura Fetherolf purchased this house in 2004
Why Laura Fetherolf chose Lenox

The reason I decided to buy this house originally was to renovate and sell it. However, I knew that if selling were not possible, we could always rent it because of the fabulous location.

We are truly at the epicenter of all the cultural and natural offerings of the Berkshires. The main gate for Tanglewood is only 1.5 miles away, we have 3 or more golf courses nearby, there are several cultural sites in Lenox either walking distance or within a few miles. Lenox is also right near all the summer stage theater.

My husband and I are outdoor enthusiasts and we love the easy access to hiking, biking and swimming. The town has several area beaches on two lakes within a two minute drive. There is a great rail trail about 15 minutes away. My husband and I ride there a lot Spring through Fall.

Lenox is nicely situated in the middle of the county, which means it is easy to access attractions north and south.

Additionally, the lot on which the house sits abuts the nature preserve. I use those trails every day and can't imagine living without them now. I can go to the grocery store everyday, which is important for us because we eat a very fresh and seasonal, vegan diet. I walk to town nearly every day to go to the post office or run an errand.

It is really just a great location.

Lovely home near great beginner ski slopes

We stayed at this lovely property within walking distance of the Lenox business district over Presidents Day weekend 2013. The property was spacious, tastefully decorated and clean. Our group included 4 adults and 4 children (ages 3-8). As our stay was in the winter and our goal of the weekend was to introduce our children to downhill skiing, we spent the majority of our time at nearby Butternut mountain (appx 20 min drive). Butternut turned out to be a perfect place for families with beginning skiers: reasonably priced lift tickets and rentals, high quality rental equipment, lots of bunny hills with "magic carpet" lifts and very nice, mature ski school instructors. We did not get to sample many of the restaurants in town but heard rave reviews of both Alta and Nudel; we did get to try Haven for breakfast and loved it! Overall, we had a lovely stay and thank Laura the owner for making us all so welcome!

Our family immensely enjoyed staying at this house. It was cozy and neat, and we felt at home in no time. The owner was extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful respecting our stay both in the house and in the Berkshire area. We would highly recommend staying here, and enjoying all the attractions of Lenox and environs.

The house was wonderful. I stayed here with 7 of my friends and the house more than met our expectations. It was really spacious (all rooms had atleast a queen a bed) and was a great place to stay with a big group of people. I would most definitely stay here again and recommend this place to others!

Dream Home in Lenox

We were going to a wedding of friends who own a home in Lenox & asked the bride to be to check out a few of the homes we looked at on VRBO. We were going to be 3 couples attending the wedding with the groom to be spending the night before the wedding with us. The bride to be got back to us saying this house was the nicest of all the homes & that we would fall in love with it & never want to leave & she was right. The home was perfectly situated for a walk into town or for a walk through Kennedy Park which abutts the backyard. The antique home has been lovingly restored with antiques & modern conveniences. My husband & I were the first couple to arrive on Fri evening & had a hard time deciding which bedroom to take since they were all different & exquisitly appointed. We settled on the master since it had the king bed & we loved the en suite bathroom with the boating wood flooring. After the Friday evening food & drink we returned to the house & all comfortably sat in the living room or I should say the largest of the living rooms since ther were several. The next day after a great brunch at Haven in town, we returned to the house to lounge around in preparation for the soon to be exhausting debauchery of eating, drinking & dancing at the wedding. Since all the guys were lawyers with big trials to prepare for, the large dining room table became the workspace while the rest of us relaxed, reading the paper in the sitting room off of the kitchen or in the living room reading the fabulous books of the owners. We all loved the fully equipped kitchen, especially the huge butcher block which served as an island although we hardly used it at all. It was a wet weekend so we didn't take advantage of sitting out on the back patio which looked so inviting with serene landscaping & the park woods beyond the home. You can't miss enjoying yourself at this home!

Charming, spacious gem just outside Lenox

This historic property is located within an easy walk of downtown Lenox with all of its attractions and a block away from a beautiful state park. The house is set back from the road and very private, with a lovely garden and a stunning stone wall encircling the patio. The gardens are fading at his time of year, but are creatively planted and well-tended.
The house itself has been beautifully restored with a perfect balance struck between maintaining its charming character and providing a comfortable living environment. The sizable bedrooms are fitted out with well-crafted built-in cabinets. the wood flooring downstairs in is well maintained and the carpet upstairs was in pristine condition during our stay. The bathrooms, linens and lighting were what one might expect to find in an excellent hotel. We were not able to take advantage of the kitchenf since we were committed for meals elsewhere but it was a equipped with top o the line appliance. The common areas was cozy.
Overall, the house was a perfect melding of luxurious and livability.

The house was charming and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and very easy to work in. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and on the back patio and also in the very comfortable den in the house. The bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and nicely appointed bathrooms. We enjoyed the wonderful walk into town every morning. No complaints at all and we hope to have an opportunity to come back for a longer stay.

This is a spacious home with room for an extended family to be together or spread out. We enjoyed walking into town and the house sits a stone's throw from hiking trails in Kennedy Park. Laura was very responsive to our needs and it is obvious that her home is tended with love and an eye for detail. The pictures of the home are accurate. We hope to be able to stay here again.

24th Anniversary!!

My husband, daughter and 11 year old Jack Russell Terrier stayed a few nights in the fall of last year 2011 for our anniversary. The house is spacious, quiet and nicely appointed. We felt at home the minute we walked through the door. The patio in the backyard was perfect for us to enjoy the outdoors while cooking our gourmet meals in the open kitchen. The trails nearby were close enough to the house for our pet. We will definitely return this fall and maybe try a winter weekend getaway in February!

great home

This home was beautiful. It was clean, well furnished, and well maintained. The layout was perfect for our family, composed of 5 adults and 2 young children, with all bedrooms on the 2nd floor, nicely spaced out. Laura was very receptive during our stay to our needs, i.e. we ran out of toilet paper, and she brought it to us immediately. It was also very convenient to town. It is walkable but on a major street, so we typically drove the very short distance. All in all, we had a great weekend!
