Photos and Description of the Curacao vacation townhome rental
1 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms, sleeps 2-4

Ideal for independent travelers who want to get away from the crowds yet be right at the water's edge, our 2-story oceanfront townhome is nestled among lush tropical plants and swaying palm trees, cooled by steady breezes -- minutes from Curacao's five most beautiful beaches. Swim, snorkel and dive some of the world's most vibrant sites, including our famed local 'Alice in Wonderland' reef. Mountain bike, hike Mt. Christoffel, or relax by the pool in sunny 88° temps. Everything inside is designed for your comfort, from the fully equipped kitchen and open-plan living space with futon for extra guests, to the second story king-size bed and spacious balcony with glorious views from sunrise to sunset. Pluses include flat-screen cable TV, DVD & wireless internet, linens & towels, screened windows & doors, hot-water showers in both baths, air conditioners & ceiling fans up and down, computer table, wood balcony dining table, tiled serving cart, etc. Two dive shops & 5 restaurants nearby.

Things to Do in Wespunt and Nearby: There's lots to enjoy at our rural west end of the island -- diving, snorkeling, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, etc. Westpunt alone features six great eateries, from the famous Lodge Kura Hulanda and Sunshine's Sol Food where you'll find the island's best pizza, to the newest restaurant in town, Landhuis Misje. Just down the road, nature lovers will thrill to the 'roller-coaster' drive through Mt. Christoffel Park, home of Curacao's highest peak. There you'll enjoy sweeping panoramic views, prehistoric cave paintings, the ruins of an old colonial plantation houses, and lush bromeliads and rarely seen orchids -- if you time your visit right! Keep your eyes out for the island's fascinating wildlife, whether it be iguanas lounging in the sun, warawara falcons soaring overhead, or chattering green and yellow parakeets darting playfully through the trees. It's not uncommon to see a goat comically standing on its hind legs in quest of a tempting morsel high overhead.

Further Afield on the Island: Beyond Westpunt, the hilly landscape reminds one of the American West with its towering cacti, iguanas and arid climate. When not beach-hopping among 38 different beaches, playing golf, windsurfing or sailing, you can explore 18th century plantation Landhuises featuring historic museums, fine restaurants, even the internationally renowned Chobo Lobo distillery, producer of the only authentic Blue Curacao Liqueur. Other attractions include the oldest Synagogue in the New World, ostrich and aloe farms, a flamingo park, a stamp museum and an aquarium. And you won't want to miss the colorful Dutch Colonial capital Willemstad -- a UNESCO historic site -- for world class shopping and island crafts, dining at an international array of restaurants and bars, or tempting Lady Luck at a number of different casinos. Curacao has something for everyone!

Interesting Facts about Curacao: Curacao is simply fantastic! It's new to the tourist business and everyone goes out of the way to make you happy and in love with their home island they're so proud of. Very clean and safe, the capital city of Willemstad has undergone a renaissance, with new paving, shopping, more restaurants. A single walk over the Queen Emma pontoon bridge will amaze you. US and Canadian vacationers are just discovering an island that's been a Dutch favorite for eons. Though everyone speaks English and the dollar is accepted everywhere, there's a wonderful Continental vibe to the island that's intoxicating. Plus, Curacao is the most racially and culturally diverse nation in the world -- 56 nationalities among 160,000 residents! Discover all Curacao has to offer -- and we guarantee you, you'll return, again and again.

This is a great place to stay. Westpunt is very quite and relaxing. We really enjoyed Cindy's rental property as our base for our vacation. The townhouse has everything you need. You must visit Casa Abou (best beach ever) and eat at Sol Food. There are plenty of snorkeling beaches to chose from that are close to this location. Just go to the beach and snorkel right from shore. There are also a lot of dive shops close that rent you tanks and you can dive from shore also. We really enjoyed Curacao and would love to go back sometime.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Mike. I am glad you and your wife had a good time. I have to agree with you on both Cas Abou and Sol Food. Cas Abou is my favorite beach and you can't beat Sol Food, both in food and hospitality. I am so glad you were able to do some snorkeling. Yes, right in front of Marazul there is beautiful sealife.

I hope you and your wife come back to Curacao sometime. I would love to have you!!

Absolutely Perfect!!!

My husband and I just arrived home from celebrating our birthdays and anniversary at Marazul 7B. We could not have hoped for a better vacation! Cindy is an awesome host and provided us with so much useful information and hospitality. The managers Tommi and Uli are fantastic and sweet and will do everything they can to make your stay unforgettable. The townhouse has absolutely everything you need to enjoy your stay and is decorated beautifully. We toured the island in our rental car (necessary) and spent the day in Willemstad, but we agree that Marazul Dive Resort is the very best place to stay on the island. It is too beautiful to describe! We felt safe traveling everywhere and the local people were very kind and helpful. We had enjoyable meals at Sunshine's Sol Restaurant, Landhuis Meji, Rancho el Sobrino, Kurahulanda Lodge, and especially want to tell you to try Die Kosterkuche in Barber. It is open only Mon thru Fri in the eve; 5-8. The couple serves European style pancakes (close to crepes) which are delicious and you must try several different kinds. It is kind of hard to find since you must access it through the Catholic church property and sadly, the church is not a welcoming neighbor. The restaurant had only 2 tables and we were able to spend time with the owners who cook and serve the wonderful dishes. Curacao beaches were warm and beautiful but water shoes are a must since the water entry is rocky with coral. Cindy, Uli, and Tommi were a tremendous help to us when our flight home was cancelled due to hurricane Sandy. They made what could have been a rough situation seamless and calm. Bonus: we got to enjoy two more days on this beautiful island. We recommend Marazul 7B without reservation! As I said: "PERFECT"!!!

The greatest place to stay on the island!

Curacao is the perfect island to have a memorable vacation.
We stayed at 3 places when we visited the island: Lagun, Westpunt at Marazul 7B, and Willemstad - Jan Sofat. Must say, we liked the Marazul Dive Resort the most!
Everything in the apartment was neat & clean, we had everything we needed (especially loved the big fridge&freezer, the comfortable and clean bed with nice sheets - unlike at some other places, clean bathrooms and comfortable couch downstairs). We felt really like home. Didn't use the television at all. The apartment has a good internet connection, we could even Skype home and show our families a little of Curacao. We had bbq several nights, and watched the sun set each day. It was perfect.
The managers were kind and helpful. I felt safe at Marazul, the night was very quiet, we could rest, and that is important when on holiday. As we are from Europe, and in Curacao it is earlier with 6 hours, we fell asleep around 8 p.m and got up in the morning before the sunrise. So we went to the beaches very early, we always arrived 1st or 2nd. This is something you should do to have the beach for yourself for a few hours and to take a look at the underwater world in the morning. That is when the sun illuminates the sea and we could take the most beautiful pictures of the blue blue water.

All in all, everything was perfect at Marazul 7B. I fell in love with Curacao, and when (because I am sure we will return some day) we will come back, we would definitely stay here.

Also, this side of the island is the most beautiful, with the national park, iguanas, lizards, lovely birds, and of course the most beautiful beaches on the whole island, and not to forget the crabs in the sand.
It is not that touristy, but maybe that is why it remained so gorgeous.
Owner's Response: Thanks, Agi for the great review. I am so glad you guys loved Curacao and all the beauty found in the west side of the island. I can tell from your review that you appreciated so much what the island has to offer.

I like the idea of going to the beaches in the morning and seeing the sealife from the morning sun. We will have to try that sometime. I am a night person and love the beautiful stars in the sky with the quiet night at Marazul.

Thanks for coming to my townhome and I home you return soon.

Curacao was a great place to visit and was great to be able to stay in such a comfortable and relaxing home. The townhome was actually very spacious and very accomdating. The townhome was in a nice and quiet location and steps away from the ocean. My husband and I couldnt have asked for anything more. The staff was all very helpful and nice! I have never been or even heard of Curacao before but Cindy, the owner of this townhome was sooo helpful! Any questions or concerns I had, she was quick to reply with a ton of helpful information. We were sad to leave! Thank you!

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, perfect location!

We really loved unit 7B. Westpunt is a beautiful, quiet, and friendly part of the island. The folks at Marazul Dive Resort - Tommi and Uli - are incredibly sweet and helpful, casual and friendly. Our neighbors, as well as others staying at the resort, were friendly and helpful with any questions about the area.

You really can't beat the view from the top and bottom porches - perfect for breakfasts and sunset dinners. We definitely recommend picking up a load of groceries (don't forget the wine) at Centrum when you arrive. You'll love cooking in the well-stocked kitchen and eating outdoors, watching the sun sink into the sea.

The two swimming areas at the resort are simply amazing. We are not divers, but found the snorkling first-rate. We almost always had the water to ourselves and loved exploring the deep, underwater world at our doorstep. The drives to nearby beaches are easy and short. We would arrive around 8am and have the beaches to ourselves for a few hours.

We will absolutely return to Curacao and unit 7B at Marazul Dive Resort would be our first choice in a place to stay. Thanks Cindy!!
Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves at Marazul Dive Resort. We agree with you about the great snorkeling right at the resort and without the crowds. The beautiful beaches being close by is a bonus, too.

Yes, all the people are friendly at Marazul and I am glad you had that experience. I am glad you loved Curacao as much as we do and do hope you are able to return. Would love to have you!!

Just got back from a fabulous Caribbean getaway at Marazul Dive resort. Lots of great memories exploring the island and all the little cove beaches nearby. The condo was perfect; we especially enjoyed the amazing sunset views and morning/evening swims right off the cliffs in front of the resort. This was my first experience using VRBO, but Cindy surpassed all my expectations with great communication throughout the process and lots of information to help us find our way around the island. The condo was well-stocked with all those items that are easy to forget at the grocery store: coffee filters, trash bags, foil, plastic wrap, salt. We used the grill almost every night, and really enjoyed that. The sunsets were simply phenomenal; no green flashes, but every evening we kept a look out in hopes we'd see one :). On the first day, we searched the apartment for an iPod player but didn't find one. We mentioned this to caretaker (Tommi) the next day, and he immediately found us a player to use in the condo, so we were able to enjoy our sunsets listening to Jimmy Buffet after all!
The Direct TV & quick internet access came in handy during the afternoon when we wanted to come in from the sun and relax a bit.

We really felt like we got to explore the island while we were there. The first day we did a bit of beach hopping at the various beaches nearby (we really liked Lagun; mainly because it was less secluded and felt a little safer during the week). We were there on flag day (July 2nd), so there were lots of crowds at the beach that day (we spent most of that day at Play Abou). We had dinner at Sol Food at Sunday night (Sunshine was great, as expected), and got to check out the Bocas (very impressive). We spent one morning climbing Mt. Christoffel, which was VERY hot (can't say I recommend it, although the vistas were beautiful). We also really enjoyed our time in Punda & Otrabanda checking out all the local culture.

Would 100% recommend staying at Marazul (especially 7B!) to anyone looking to experience the less touristy/more remote side of Curacao without having sacrificing any of the comforts of home!

Three women friends travel every year for spring break, and we truly loved this vacation. Cindy was helpful as were the local managers. The unit is perfectly placed in the complex with a stunning view of the ocean and close to, but not on top of, the pool where shade is easy to find. We found several restaurants serving delicious fresh fish with local touches. Beaches are nearby and worth the drive - with superb snorkeling 10 feet offshore. All in all, we would highly recommend this property -- it was safe, quiet, and truly an island paradise.

My wife and I stayed in the townhouse for three weeks last January. Even though we are not there for snorkeling/diving, it is a wonderful place just to be there and to relax. What a view, when you wake up in the morning and look out of the window in the bedroom to the sea. What a view at the sunset over the horizon in the evening. Breakfeast outside, lunch outside, dinner outside - even when it rains accasionnally it is warm enough in January. The Marazul community is great - quiet and clean, and Tommy and Uli are doing a great job to "run the business". In Westpunt, you are 20 Minutes away from the next village (Barber) and about 50 Minutes from the busy life of Willemstad. Be sure to visit this place, the harbor with the cruise ships, the famous ponton bridge, the nicely colored houses along the pier (and forget about the ugly refinery nearby - I was told it will be closed soon). The island of Curacao has just the right size to discover everything.
