If your going to rent a getaway house in the mountains, then look no further. We've been doing the mountain gig for years and this is by far the greatest house we've ever had the pleasure to stay in. The view from the deck is fantastic. All the amenities are right at your fingertips. I was stress free the minute I drove up to the house.
We will definately be coming back...........
Thanks Judy for a great vacation.......
Owner's Response: Hi! Your review is so generous, thank you. I'm glad to hear how thoroughly you relaxed. It was a pleasure to have you stay at the house... Come back anytime!!!

I'd stay here every year!

Review Submitted: September 8, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We loved the artwork – did you pick out all of the pieces in the house?? The piece over the fireplace, can you pass along the name of it?? One of the women could not stop talking about it! The directions were spot-on and the place was exactly what we were looking for! We found ‘The Deep’ where we spent an afternoon. Did you have a listing of places to swim?? The kitchen was so spacious! I was ‘the chef’ so the space and prep areas worked about very well. Thank you for supplying every amenity that we may have forgotten. Internet access was a big plus too. How long have you owned the house? Many personal touches. Thanks for helping us create a perfect weekend!

A little piece of heaven

We loved it! We can't wait to go back. The house is gorgeous, interesting and laid back.. with an incredible atmosphere that just demands you RELAX! The description did not do it justice. The kids had a great time - both in and outside the house. The hammock was my favorite place.. or maybe it was the deck overlooking the garden and the kids playing.. or the enclosed porch where we sat in the mornings drinking our tea or the comfy leather chair and ottoman..or floating in the refreshing pond. We loved it all. (and the delicious vegan smoothies served in the village) The best family break ever!
Owner's Response: Your review made me smile, I'm thrilled that you all had such a good time. Please come back next summer!

Pond and Porch!

Loufar468 Boston, MA
Review Submitted: August 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
The house was even better than described and the pictures are nice but don't do it justice. It was clean and orderly and the local weekly paper was put out for us - we felt very welcomed. We loved cooking in that kitchen and eating in 3 places, dining room, deck and screened-in porch. The two surprises were how comfortable the house was without a/c, just ceiling and bedroom fans--and the fantastic pond. I have disliked the weedy fishy mucky aspects of ponds, but this one is fresh and clear and deep. I am a now a convert, what luxury.

The service was great, we had no reason to contact the owner, everything before and after the vacation was handled thoroughly and efficiently. The only complaint came from my wife who wanted me to leave the porch and the pond and go places! Next year we want to rent for a week instead of only 3 nights. Warning: this property got filled fast, we could only get in during mid-week.
Owner's Response: Yes, please book early. Many people did not get their desired dates this year. You swam in June, lucky you!

Thanks for the very nice review. The house will be waiting for you.

Amazing house and location, friendly owner

Pennytoo Brooklyn, NY
Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We loved everything about our stay. The house is wonderful -- open, breezy and cool, beautifully and intelligently designed and filled with amazing art. It's a great place to cook, and both the indoor and outdoor dining spaces are great and festive places to eat. We had excellent weather, but would have been happy to've been stranded at home. The immediate lawn, meadow, and trail to the pond are quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We did not explore the property as much as we could have, or take immediately local hikes, but heard from neighbors and friends that there's a public trail within walking distance of the house that is spectacular, and there are numerous great trails within short (10-15 minute) drives. The drive to Woodstock was less than 15 minutes, and I don't think the location could be much better--we went everywhere we wanted to go and never spent more than 45 minutes in the car, usually no more than 25. Judy was incredibly responsive to all of our questions, immediately addressed any issues or concerns, and left us great advice about local attractions and events; the house and property were clean and well-maintained. A couple of caveats--the wonderful stairs can make it a bit challenging for parents with active toddlers or stair-enthralled babies, though there's enough to keep them entertained elsewhere. Anyone with stair difficulties, who wishes to come and go a lot, might have difficulty with the house, but it's definitely do-able, as the main floor has everything on one level.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review! I'm glad that you enjoyed the house and had time to travel the area; there is so much within reach. Next time perhaps you can do some hiking, it's great even just up behind the house.

I appreciate your feedback about the stairs. I'll get some easy to put up and take down (or step over, for adults!) child gates. People who have trouble walking up or down stairs have stayed in the main floor bedroom, but I do advise them that access to the lawn, pond and woods is limited, and there is no bathtub on the main floor, only a shower.

Your family would be very welcomed back next summer!

artistic woodstock retreat

Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in this charming, funky and relaxing home in the woods. The house has lots of privacy while still being less than 15 mins from Woodstock. The house is lovingly decorated with artwork and unique furnishings and is well stocked with supplies, as well as a large selection of wonderful books, games and music.

Owner Judy was great to deal with: friendly, helpful, accommodating and easily accessible. She recommended wonderful galleries and restaurants in the area. We would happily return!!

Thank you so much for the wonderful house, which made out vacation unforgettable. Especially thanks for the lovely atmosphere you create in your house, which made us feel at home. Nothing was missing, every corner is lovely, the garden and yard are beautiful, your art is amazing. Hope to come again!!!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. As this is my first season renting this property I was pleased to know that everything was comfortable and in order. I know that your family made full use of the kitchen, deck and grill, and I appreciate that you left the house so orderly. You came at a great time, when all the trees and flowers were blooming at once. I would be happy to have you back, anytime!
