This really is the cutest little cottage on the Downeast coast, with magnificent views and shoreline, situated only feet from pristine Gouldsboro Bay! This charming and quiet get-away was lovingly rebuilt from the ground up by the owner just a couple years ago and is beautifully landscaped. Awake to early morning sun and watch lobstermen hauling traps and seals swimming by, right from your bed! Enjoy the ever changing views with the 12-foot tides and look for eagles, osprey and terns. Lounge on the deck and read, walk the shore looking for sea glass, try the bikes or hike some local trails. Use the available kayaks or canoe and ply the waters of the Bay or launch your own boat and use the owner's deep water dock, guest mooring and dinghy. Come along for a ride on the owner's 25' sailboat and sail out to the rugged islands where seals and sea birds abound and see Petit Manan Lighthouse. Join the owner for a ride in the skiff and pick up dinner right off a lobster boat!
More about on-site activities:: There is easy access to the shore right beside the cottage where you can launch the available kayaks and canoe - or take in and out at the owner's dock right next door. You can explore the sparkling waters of Gouldsboro Bay as well as nearby West Bay and Joy Bay. Paddle alongside lobster buoys and lobster boats as you enjoy the views from the water of the pine studded granite coastline.
In addition to hiking the shoreline in either direction, it is also pleasant to walk along our quiet dead end road, and the trails beyond. Everyone you meet will give you a friendly greeting at the very least.
When the mackerel are running, fish from the owner's deep-water dock with a line that will bring up three at a time - no fishing license is required for ocean fishing.
Nearby Activities:: Visit the very scenic and less crowded part of Acadia National Park on the nearby Schoodic Peninsula (20 minute drive) with it's spectacular rocky shore, crashing surf and gorgeous views of Mt. Desert Island. The villages of Prospect Harbor, Corea and Winter Harbor on the Schoodic Peninsula are quaint and picturesque. Winter Harbor is also home to Hammond Hall, the focus of many cultural events, especially in the summer.
About 20 minutes in the opposite direction is the Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge where there are a variety of inland and shore trails for hiking - don't forget to bring your camera.
If you're looking for a nice day trip, the main portion of Acadia National Park and bustling Bar Harbor are about an hour's drive away.
Only minutes away, you can visit our local winery, Bartlett Maine Estate Winery and sample their exquisite fruit wines.
Public golf courses are located in nearby Winter Harbor and Sorrento.
