I recently stayed here with my friends who had come in town. We had plenty of space. It has a queen bed and a cute loft above with two twin beds (pretty small for adults). The hot tub was awesome! It was a nice little cottage, nothing fancy but it has a great location on the Arch Cape beach. It's a very short walk to the beach on a stone path. No driving/hiking through neighborhoods or town. The decor is funky (leopard print carpet) but hey, for a night away on the beach it was perfect. Also it is very close to Hug Point which is one of my favorite places on the coast.

We opted not to pay the linen fee or the cleaning fee and to bring our own and do our own cleaning. It was very easy and I appreciate that about this place. It seems like you always end up doing your own cleaning anyway for these places and this way you save a little money. If you are looking for a 5 star resort with granite counter tops and fancy new appliances, you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for a cute, clean place to stay on the coast for the weekend you will love this place!

Not sure what happened between earlier, great reviews and now, but my wife and I were left pretty disappointed in the Cozy Kahuna. Our review pretty much mirrors Paul F's below.

The outside light on the back porch was burned out and I couldn't find any replacement bulbs.  I was going to use one of the lights in the small closet near the backdoor, but was unable to get the light fixture open to change bulbs.  Also the lighting around the hot tub is inadequate for night time use.  There were a couple of piles of a white substance around the hot tub, which I can only guess was perhaps powdered chlorine.  Needless to say, it was gross and kind of hard to keep my kids from stepping in it because of the low lighting and it being spread all around the small steps into the hot tub.

We also paid the $25 extra for linens and it would have been nice to have the beds made up with the linens we paid for.  We also didn't know where to find the linens and just as my wife was placing a call to the owners, she opened the cabinet and found them.

We also felt that we had to wash each dish before we could use them because they weren't exactly clean.  There wasn't enough detergent to finish washing our towels when we were done because we assumed in order to get our cleaning deposit back we had to do laundry?  Although that wasn't clear.  I don't understand what the point of the $25 "linen" fee was when we had to make the beds and do the laundry.  Was it simply a "linen use fee"?

The general cleanliness left something to be desired.  There were cobwebs around all the lights in the kitchen, around the beams and above the master bed.  The bathroom had grime and mold around the shower and the shower fixtures.  The toilet continually runs.  The windows all have mold growing in them.  The coffee maker had standing water in it and stunk.  We decided NOT to use that.  These are all things that could be easily remedied with the right person cleaning the place. 

So, it's pretty disappointing when you save up to have a nice, one-night getaway with the wife and kids, only to feel like you have to clean the place to stay in it. I wanted to get away from doing work and I couldn't with this place...

We stayed in the Cozy Kahuna for the first weekend in February - 2013. It was an underwhelming experience for us. We had been skeptical considering there were no recent reviews on VRBO but booked based on the description of the cottage and images. We decided to pay the extra $25 for linens and towels. When we arrived, neither towels nor linens were set out for us. There were a large number of old towels in the washroom cupboards, but most were either dusty or looked to be unclean. We searched for linens in the cabin, and found a cupboard in the kitchen with some mix and match sheets and pillow cases. They were stuffed into the cupboard and did not look clean so we decided to wash a set, and also a set of towels before we used them that night.
Next we set out to cook dinner, but could not find a BBQ lighter or matches anywhere in the unit. I searched outside around the deck area, but could only find empty beer cans and bottles in the bushes near the BBQ. We found a small bag of charcoals in the closet, but nothing to light them with. We had to give up on the BBQ idea. We decided to have a glass of wine, but unfortunately there was only one wine glass, and a number of champagne goblets that we had to make do with.
Using the hot tub in the evening, we found that the outside deck had no lights except for 2 dim solar powered lamps near the tub. We tried replacing the lightbulb on the outside fixture, but found that someone had nailed a piece of wood on to the fixture and it was impossible to replace the bulb without pulling out the wood. When our linens and towels dried we placed them on the bed in the master bedroom, which is much different than in the pictures on the listing. We pulled out the mattress only to find cobwebs, dust, and what can only be described as unsanitary conditions behind the headboard and beside the night tables. We made due with what we had, and some would argue that given the price it's understandable if everything wasn't perfect. What I say to that is - each of these things is very easy to fix and creates a better experience for your renter. Two wine glasses, a matching set of linens, new towels (not old, stained ones), outdoor lighting, and a BBQ lighter can easily be obtained in one trip to Ikea. A deep clean, with a thorough vacuuming and updated pictures is also easy enough to sort out. If we had known all these things, we certainly would have booked elsewhere. As of today, I have not heard from the owner regarding linen fees.

We stayed at the Cozy Kahuna early November 2011. This cottage is cute, clean, and everything you need utensil wise is supplied, right up to the wine glasses!:) The size was perfect for the six of us and a dog. We really appreciated being able to bring the dog along. The beach is only a few steps away and very friendly and quiet that time of year. Arch Cape itself is cute and not but a skip from Cannon Beach. We ventured down to Nehalem Bay as well and went wine tasting at the winery. We just booked the Cozy Kahuna for this November as well and look forward to another relaxing get away!

We both very much enjoyed our weekend in Arch Cape at the Cozy Kahuna. It's a stone's throw to the beach, the hot tub was fabulous, and we got lucky and the weather was also fabulous. We will definitely go back! :)

We stayed at the Cozy Kahuna for my partner's surprise birthday party. The Cozy Kahuna is cute and comfy, with nice comfortable beds and everything you'd need for a small-ish group to have a great time close to the beach...including a big hot tub! The beach access is 2 or 3 houses over, about a 20 second walk.

I have stayed at The Cozy Kahuna three years in a row now. It is the best value I have found on the coast and the cottage is a perfect size for us! Clean, quaint and located close enough to shopping, galleries, and restaurants yet peaceful and serene at the same time. We sit on the deck and watch the sunsets, and the hot tub is perfect in every way. The price is right and the owner is very helpful and easy to work with.
