Perfect for a Staff Retreat!

We had a staff & volunteer retreat-slash-training event and our stay at the Cedar House was absolutely perfect! The number of bedrooms (and separate beds!) made it possible for all of us to stay together and sleep and eat and work under one roof, morning, noon, and night. For team-building and creating connections, there is no better venue for a group like ours than to share a space like this one. We held our training sessions in the big dining room, which was easily converted into a training area with a screen and projector. Plenty of seats for everyone and no one had to sit with their back to the trainer, that was great!
For mealtimes, we didn't have to move our training materials, we brought in tables and chairs and set them up in the Florida room which has that great view of the water! The setup with the two kitchens seemed superfluous at first but we soon found that it was *perfect* for our needs! Whether we had food brought in or we prepared it ourselves, we had ample room for both food preparation and for serving it to the group. The layout provided a natural flow from the training (dining) room, through the buffet line in the first kitchen, to the beverage and dessert station in the second kitchen, and then right out to the Florida room where we could all eat and enjoy the camaraderie of breaking bread together as a group.
Before, after, and between training-and-working times, our staff and volunteers took advantage of the house amenities, enjoying the big screen TV, DVD player and access to cable, and of course the hot tub and pool. We all split the shower schedule between mornings and evenings and incredibly, we all had hot water the entire time we were there.
We had one issue while we were there (we couldn't figure out how to turn the hot tub on!) and there was someone there to help us out within an hour! We could not have been happier with the responsiveness of the owner and her representative, they were both very accommodating and prompt. Oh, and by the way, though the house is older (which we loved because of the character and history), it is absolutely spotlessly clean!
Would we stay at the Cedar House again? Without a doubt. Our staff and volunteers are already asking when we can go back! Thanks so much to Betsy for letting us feel like her house was ours for six whole days.
