Last mimute weekend getaway w/ the wife & kids

Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My wife put me up to the impossible task of finding a rental home in the upper keys for a weekend getaway with our three children the wednesday before. No problem, I hit the various sites and made a few calls after some time this house really had the right combination of factors. The house was everything and more than what the web site showed. It is to sum it up, very cozy (Key West Style), the house has a good layout, on top of that the owner courteous and accomodating. We visited Buzzer's roost restaurant on Fri night for a fish fry and live music, Sat. we went to the Jacobs aquatic center for a day of water activities for the kids which included the kids diving of the trampoline for at least four hours straight! and some rest for us. We then attended the St Justin Catholic services that Sat Eve. @ 6pm and called it a night to get up early the next day for a full day @ John Pennekamp State Park for an awsome Snorkle trip to the "Christ of the Abyss" Statue and more rest time for us on the beach where there is a makeshift spanish sunken ship wreck for the kids to explore snorkeling, we biked, slept, ate and snorkled all day. We ended the day @ Snooks on the bay side for dinner. This place has a great "Keys" atmosphere, the food was pretty good. The advantage was that all these places we less than 5 minutes drive from the house. Overall it was a great time, thanks for your hospitality Howard.

Guys Week Out!!!

Father and Sons Fort Lauderdale
Review Submitted: November 5, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Once a year my father flies down and spends time with his three sons – this year we came across a great home in Key Largo. Walking up the stairs I was immediately blown away by the front doors – absolutely beautiful. As you open the doors you are greeted by warm wood tones, great amenities and an ever present feeling that you have finally made it to “The Keys…” As always when we are on vacation we eat A LOT, Key Largo was no exception – we started at Ballyhoos and enjoyed all you can eat Stone crab, later had lunch at Sundowners and enjoyed sailboats passing by! Another nice part of the vacation was being able to SAVE money by eating in – the kitchen was nicely appointed with all the essentials. We fished off the back dock and enjoyed Kayaking through the canal and into the crystal clear waters of the Bay. Our last day we kayaked out to the Bay again, skirted the edge and came across a Manatee! In the end this was one of those vacations that will always live on in our memories – a father and three sons creating memories someplace that will always be very dear to their hearts. Next question, WHEN DO WE COME BACK?????

A Great Florida Keys Base Camp

Yawkey Madison, Wisconsin
Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My husband, daughter and I spent a week at this property over our spring break. The home was extremely private and comfortable. It was the perfect location for our week in the keys. We were able to SCUBA at John Pennekamp Park, kayak the keys, and take day trips to Everglades National Park and Key West. Howard and Lily were perfect hosts and checked in with us regularly to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Thanks for a great week

Perfect getaway!

The house is awesome, to say the least! It was really great being able to keep our boat docked up right behind the house, so every morning we could just pack it up and go on a new adventure. The Winn-Dixie right down the road was very convienent, along with the various resturaunts and shopping available. We really enjoyed our stay here and we even made new friends with the next-door neighbor. We will definitely be back here to visit again! Thank you!

Little gem

CTR Miami, FL
Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This little house is a gem. The property was clean and well kept. Big enough for 2 adults and our 3 adolescent kids. As the add says, the location is great with easy access to ocean and bay. We rented a boat close by and spent the weekend swimming and snorkeling. You can also kayak and fish from the house. The restaurants in the area were marvelous. The owner was efficient and very friendly. Highly recommend it. Loved it.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much. It was great having you!
Best Wishes,
Howard & Lily

Had a wonderful stay in this really great house. We loved the coziness and warmth. We really like the layout of the home and location wise was just great for us as we did a lot of activities in and around the area. Fishing was fantastic although the waters required us to wear wetsuits when we went for a dive excursion. We visited the Swim with Dolphins, the Bird sanctuary, a number of Tiki bars and great restaurants, some sandbars, John Pennekamp state park (we snorkled the Statue of Jesus, and more. Lots of fun the whole 2 weeks and we loved coming home to your great A-frame in Key Largo. We will be back next year!
Thank you for your hospitality and information. Great stuff! Really what dreams are made of!
Thank you,

Perfect Property to explore the Florida Keys

Andreea & Mihai New York, NY
Review Submitted: March 9, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
After spending a week at this lovely home in Key Largo we can only say that, should you be searching for a vacation rental in the area, this is definitely IT! Not only is the house perfectly situated to take advantage of the best that the Florida Keys have to offer, but the owners are great hosts who will take care of you as if you were family. The home is incredibly comfortable, with every amenity you could wish for, an awesome bed (always important after a tiring, activity-filled day!) and a lovely, airy outdoor area right under the house that provides shade from the mid-day sun, plenty of parking space, outdoor shower, charcoal grill and a table and comfy chairs to lounge back in and enjoy that well-deserved brew you've been craving all day. Oh, yeah, almost forgot: there's also a great little Tiki Hut! If you have a boat you'll be very pleased with the dock that's right on the canal where we had the opportunity to observe wildlife up-close: herons, egrets and even an immense iguana! There's a Winn Dixie literally two minutes away walking distance and you're very close to the best restaurants that Key Largo has to offer. If you like fish and seafood in general, try the incomparable Fish House for some really fresh, delicious fare and great service. You're also close to the mainland for some touristy adventures like the Evergaldes National Park, the Miami Seaquarium or the Alligator Farm. And if you're there for diving, you're definitely in the right place! We had some really awesome dives on the Spiegel Grove, Duane and Bibb and incredible underwater photo ops that included bull sharks, turtles and tons of little cute seacritters. As already mentioned, the owners, Howard and Lily, are incredibly gracious hosts who will take care of you as much (or as little, if you want privacy!) as you wish. We would recommend this home to anyone without any reservations. Enjoy your vacation!

We loved this place, very homey and comfortable after a day in the hot sun, my husband fished off the canal and even cought something, which is unusual for him. This location is close to everything, walk to grocery store, church. We spent the days at holiday inn pool and marriotts pool as well, no ?'s asked. many wonderful sunsets at The big chill, new resturaunt bar 1 mile south. We express our gratitude to Howard and family for their hospitality. Thank again, Kathleen Larson
Owner's Response: Thank you Kathy and Paul for your kind words. We are so very glad that you truly enjoyed your stay and we are looking forward to hosting your next vacation in the fabulous Keys! Thank you so much for those tips about the Holiday Inn and the Marriot allowing people to lounge around their pools as long as you buy a`drink or some refreshments. Also, we were excited to hear about your snorkeling the Christ statue at John Pennekamp and diving the Speagal Grove wreck. Did you get to any of the beaches and what were they like to you? Best wishes to you guys and thanks again.
