This quiet and charming freestanding 1 bedroom garden cottage is located in the flat and sunny area of beautiful downtown Mill Valley - just minutes from San Francisco! It is fully furnished and comes completely equipped.

With over 850 square feet, it is more than three times as large as a typical hotel room and sleeps 2-4 people comfortably. This is a complete freestanding little house, not a 'studio/apartment': 1 bedroom, one large living room with wood burning fireplace (and a queensize convertible sofa), an extra sun room and a separate breakfast room connected to the nice kitchen. Enjoy beautiful hardwood floors, a bathtub and a sweet backyard garden.

For children we offer the following sleeping arrangements at no extra cost: 1) 1 pack-n-play for babies, 2) twin size mattress on the floor either next to the masterbed or in the sunroom for younger children or 3)queensize converted sofabed in the living room for older children.

The cottage is quietly and private set at the end of the property behind the main house with a big private space for outdoor seating. Your own small basement with washer and dryer offers additional secure storage space for bikes or surfboards. The owner lives in the main house in front of the property.

Located in the middle of Mill Valleys most desirable neighborhoods Sycamore and Boyle Park it is very close to playgrounds, tennis courts and a golf course. Trailheads and bike paths along the Bay are nearby. Walk in 5 minutes to bustling Downtown Mill Valley Plaza and Depot, Whole Foods, shops and boutiques, coffee shops, Library, Mill Valley Art and Film Festival, Mill Valley Market, Community Center with pool and gym, clubs (2 am, Sweetwater), schools, first class restaurants (El Paseo!!!, Balboa Cafe and about at least 20 others...). Boyle Park is just a short walk away, Sycamore Avenue is around the corner.

The bus stop to San Francisco or San Rafael is 1 block down the street and the Golden Gate Bridge only 10 minutes away by car. San Francisco, Sausalito, Tiburon, Corte Madera, Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, Marin General Hospital, College of Marin are all only minutes away by car and you could bike as well!

International travellers welcome! We speak English and German.

We rent the cottage out for a minimum of 30 days only. Longer stays are very welcome.

Mill Valley was voted by CNN to be one of the top ten most desirable places to live in the Nation: CNN/Money magazine noted ”Dotcom millionaires and power couples in the film and music industries are flocking to what not so long ago was a hangout for artists and reformed hippies just 14 miles from the Golden Gate.' The magazine adds, 'Yet most residents are interested in maintaining the town's low-key, back-to-nature atmosphere. Think fleece and flip-flops, not fur and stilettos.'

However, what sold us to Mill Valley was its unique location with close proximity to San Francisco, the ocean and Stinson Beach and its European 'walk and bike everywhere, shop in high end stores, eat in cute little restaurants and talk to your friendly neighbors' atmosphere. We stayed at the Boyle Park cottage because our usual Mill Valley rental was unavailable. But I have to say that we have a new favorite space. It is a lovely space, that is significantly larger than you might think. My wife and I were more than comfortable. Don't let its location on a busy street fool you. It's back off the street, so it's super quiet at night. Between the clean, welcoming quality and high levels of fit and finish, particularly in the kitchen, this one's a keeper.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Outstanding Grandparent/In-law Retreat

We were very pleased with our recent stay at this property. The cottage was well maintained and very clean and spacious. The location was excellent---5 minute walk to our family, 10 minute walk to the center of Mill Valley's shops and restaurants, and a short drive or bike ride to so many other activities and attractions. It was wonderful to have a little "home away from home" so that we were able to visit family, but still have our own space nearby so that all had their privacy. Our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer! The owners were very helpful and pleasant. They communicated with us prior to our stay, and helped us get situated when we arrived. We definitely recommend this rental and we look forward to our own future visits.

I am making my plans for my next visit to Mill Valley and am wondering if your cottage is free in August. I can't get your cozy cottage out of my mind - It was such a perfect place to stay and write last summer!
