The Shore Cottage, a charming one room cottage with a balcony overlooking the lake, is located on Fisk Farm, our beautiful estate property on Isle La Motte, Vermont. Our rates are $750 per week from Saturday to Saturday. The cottage has a comfortable king sized bed A kitchen area with refrigerator, hot plate, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, and access to a charcoal grill and an herb garden make possible the preparation of simple meals. Historic Fisk Farm has magnificent views of lake, mountain and meadow. We offer natural beauty, historic charm, and peace and quiet to our visitors and friends. Enjoy swimming from our dock, walking and cycling on our country roads and hiking the trails on our preserves. Bring your canoe or kayak. A golf course is 15 minutes away. Isle La Motte: Isle La Motte, Vermont is the northernmost island of Lake Champlain. About 6 miles by 2 miles it is a rural community with about 500 year round residents. This number swells in the summer months when the beauty of the island and access to the lake attract vacationers, cyclists and part-time residents. Isle LaMotte has a small general store, two churches, a post office and library, an historical society and two nature and geological preserves. Walking and hiking trails are available. Enjoy swimming, walking, cycling; bring your canoe or kayak and don't forget your camera. Excellent restaurants are near by. On Sunday afternoons in July and August Fisk Farm hosts music and art exhibits in our restored Horse & Carriage Barn. Tea is served in the ruins of the great stone house that was originally the great house on Fisk Farm, memorable because of the historic visit of Teddy Roosevelt in 1901.
Burlington, VT is a lovely hour's drive to the south and Montreal is an easy hour to the north. Don't forget your passports as we are very close to the Canadian border.
Isle La Motte Geology: Isle La Motte geology is unique. The bedrock of the southern third of the island consists of the Chazy Fossil Reef, the oldest biologically diverse reef in the world and a protected National Natural Landmar.l About 100 acres of this geological treasure is protected in two preserves, the 83 acre Goodsell Ridge Preserve with interpretive signage, trails and a visitor center and the 20 acre Fisk Quarry Preserve.
