Wonderful stay at El Zalate

Just returned from a great week in San Jose del Cabo, and really enjoyed our unit at El Zalate. The condo is well-maintained and well stocked, and beds were comfortable. The large veranda was terrific for dining and had a beautiful view. We watched humpback mamas and calves breaching, lobtailing and doing their cool whaley moves (all day/everyday-last week of March). The complex was quiet in comparison to the large resorts around, which was perfect for us. There was a nice mix of couples and families. The pools were great, grounds lovely and the beach was clean. There is a great tide pool down the beach to the south, where we saw puffer fish, urchins and brittle sea stars. All of the staff we encountered were accommodating and gracious. Bob, the unit's owner, was very helpful, forthcoming with information and easy to work with. We will definitely return in the future!

We just returned from our first visit to San Jose del Cabo. We couldn't have chosen a better property than El Zalate or a better condo than Bob and Terri's. You can't beat the location and the view from the deck is absolutely stunning! Bob was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Everything we needed was there from the BBQ to the spices, the beach towels to the boogie board. We have two teenaged boys and I was worried that they might get bored. It was not a problem. Everyone at the property was friendly and respectful. We truly had a wonderful time. Our ten days passed far too quickly and we look forward to a return visit.

This is a wonderful property, exactly as described and perfect for what we were looking for. Beautiful views, fabulous beach, pool and property. We were very happy to find it so quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!

Wonderful view, great location!

My husband and I are frequent visitors to the area, first time to El Zalate and tend to be a bit fussy. The positives: Bob, the owner was great to work with and very helpful. Condo was well stocked with any item you could possibly need. Outside patio and view were perfection! Beach and pool were great, never crowded or noisy. Easy to get to (we had a car) but a little tricky to find the first time. Close to restaurants and shopping. Now the few areas which could be improved: some of the linens/pillows could use an upgrade, living room couch was not comfortable. And, besides a table and chairs, the inside seating was limited for those who plan to spend evenings at home. There were a few kitchen cleaning issues which we reported to the owner, but generally the unit was clean. There is no water filter, so you may want to purchase bottled water. The only other comment which really cannot be fixed: if you have noisy neighbors (which we had for 2 days) the unit is not well insulated. Overall, a good value for the price with just a few tweaks needed!!

Bob,
Thank you so much for another wonderful time. The new grill is just another perfect addition to the condo. The whole place is perfect for our family with plenty of room, huge balcony, best pool around and a well stocked kitchen. Our 8th time at El Zalate and third in this unit. Tthe beds are comfortable, the deck faces the best direction. You have it all there.
We look forward to another trip soon.

This was a fantastic vacation. We loved the quality, location and "low density" of this property. This unit had everything we needed. We loved the beach and were able to play in the water/waves most everyday. It was amazing to see so many fish jumping as well as rays jumping out of the water. The whales were distant but still exciting too! The weather was perfect as well! Thanks for all the great restaurant info too! We didn't want to leave and would definitely go back!

I cannot begin to describe the amazing experience
we had at El Zalate. The condo itself was beautiful,
fully stocked, and perfect for our family of 5. We
have 3 children ages 5, 3, and 1, and they spent
every day swimming in the warm pool, and playing
in the waves on the pristine beach in front of the
property.
We loved sitting on the deck, (which had one of the
best views in the complex), looking out over the
vast expanse of beach and crystal clear waters.
From time to time, a whale would pop up, only to
increase the excitement of visiting this paradise.
The property's proximity to the wonderful
restaurants in downtown San Jose (so much more
pleasant than the frenetic pace of Cabo) made it
easy for us to zip in for the Art Walk on Thursday
evenings, and enjoy quaint, fun restaurants (try
Salsitas!)
Bob and Terri, the owners, were absolute pleasures
to deal with. We can't wait to return next year...in
fact, we may come back sooner, due to our
fabulous experience.

I stayed in this unit at El Zalate the week after Christmas into New Years. It was such a wonderful trip! We were pleasantly surprised at how everything worked out so wonderfully as traveling with small children can be hard to find a great place to stay. We brought our 1 1/2 year old and our 4 year old. It was the perfect set up for us. They had their own room and bath on one side and ours on the other. We were able to put them to bed and stay up late enjoying the large patio and listening to the waves.
The location of this unit is awesome - high enough up to have great privacy, and unobstructed views of the ocean and beach - just amazing. We enjoyed most meals on the patio, and others at the very close restaurant options which were fantastic. The beach is huge and clean with great sand for building sand castles etc. We did not swim in the ocean as the waves were very big - some adults did, but we did not with small children.
The pool area is very nice. There are two pools - the heated pool has a very large area that is shallow with a gradual entrance, perfect for small kids. We found El Zalate to be a very clean and quiet place with really nice people.
One of our favorite things to do at night was go into the town of San Jose (5-10 min cab) and enjoy the mariachis and some wonderful dinner.
I would highly recommend staying here - we hope to go again soon!

Our family of 4, including two teenagers, had a great week here. The view from the porch is wonderful and is far enough from the road that you don't get any traffic noise. We liked the location on the beach, easy walking distance to Zippers restaurant, a surf rental, beach massage tents. We couldn't connect to the internet in the unit but were able to on the porch. We would love to go again.
