The perfect multi family house

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Perfect. that about sums it up! this house stands roof and chimney above other rentals for many reasons...

first of all, it doesn't feel like a rental! it has all of the amenities of home as well as some unexpected bonuses -like a pool table and ping pong table in the basement. the house feels like what it is - a family getaway used by a great family. no knock off plastic plates and cheapo furniture - this place is set up as you'd do with your own private home. the value to this is immeasurable.

Secondly, there's a ton of space. The bedrooms are spread out with a very well thought out living space in the middle. the kitchen communicates with the living room and has a couple of comfy chairs off to the side of the dining room table - perfect for tea after dinner of for lazy guests to relax with a glass of wine while the host cooks dinner.

other unexpected gems include the huge, beautifully maintained gardens. our 2 year old ran about with reckless abandon on the lush green carpet of irrigated and frequently mowed lawn - another thing you don't often find on the cape!

And then there's the fully stocked garage! we did not need to bring our tennis rackets, whiffle ball set, bikes and bike helmets... in fact, all we really needed to bring was a suitcase full of clothes. the house has a badminton net and gear, ditto a separate net for volley ball and 4 fishing rods with tackle AND beach chairs!

As you can see, we were blown away by the quality of the house, the proximity to everything (including direct access to the Cape Cod rail trail).

Best rental experience we've ever had... and we can be a bit on the difficult to please side of things.

Great house!

We rented the house with high hopes and weren't disappointed. The yard was wonderful. It was beautifully landscaped and a great place for the kids to play. We also loved the open, bright feel of the house. The owner clearly has taken excellent care of his home and it felt like staying at someone's home instead of staying at a rental property. We usually don't like to plan far ahead but we loved the place so much that we have already scheduled some time here next year!

Privacy, Spaciousness, and Simple Elegance

I knew I would like this place before I arrived. The spaciousness and tasteful decor were readily apparent from the photos posted on this site. But upon pulling up to the house via the long driveway, I knew I was in for a most pleasant stay. Though this house is not quite walking distance to the beaches, its comfort and amenities more than make up for it. And the layout is what really makes this a special place. There are two large rooms upstairs that are separate and private. And the master and guest rooms on the ground level are nicely situated just off the living areas. The pool and ping pong tables rocked! They provided endless entertainment for the little and big folks. My only regret is that I could not convince the gang to play a proper game of wiffle ball in the specially dedicated area way back, deep in the outer part of the property. Also, I would have loved to have had my road bike with me to take advantage of the great bike path just behind the property. This vacation home is ideal for those vacationing with the extended family -- lots of space and activities for everyone. The only thing I would change in this incredibly well-designed vacation home is swapping out the conventional door for a pocket door between the kitchen/dining area and the downstairs bedrooms/basement staircase (but that is an extremely minor detail probably not worth mentioning...)

The garden with its flowers typical of Cape Cod, mowed lawns, vegetables and herbs contributed significantly to our R & R. The porch with its many windows, the outdoor shower, and the grill did not go unused and were very appreciated. We had a great time in this house, and I highly recommend it for those who have a large group and don't demand being right on the water.

Beautiful house, set back off of street with a lot of privacy. Very comfortable home. The two large bedrooms upstairs are on two separate ends of the house with a couch & TV's giving you the feel of three family rooms. The sun room is a great place to enjoy the newspaper and your coffee in the mroning. The weather wasn't ideal for the beach but the kids enjoyed the basement playing ping pong, pool and using their scooters.Close to town, stores and restaurants. Red River beach is a mile and half down the street, which is a nice walk or run in the morning. Wonderful house to vacation at, we're coming back next year for sure!

This house is truly a gem! It was all that we could have hoped for and more. The outdoor gardens were LOVELY . Fortunately we had beautiful, sunny weather and used the yard for relaxing and playing outdoor games every day. We loved the privacy of the house but, an easy location to the beach, shopping and great restaurants. It was great to be able to get to the bike trails directly from the house and go for a ride any time you wanted. We also enjoyed having some ping pong and pool competitions in the evening.
The house itself was so comfortable and spacious and clean. Also it was a great treat having the linens and towels (nice quality) included AND having the beds made when you arrived was wonderful!
The owner was very easy to deal with and even called on our day of arrival to make sure everything was in order. If we had a problem, he took care of it as soon as possible.
I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, sitting on the porch on the rocking chair in the early morning drinking my coffee, looking at the beautiful flowers or later in the day relaxing in the sun room under the ceiling fan, enjoying a cold beverage : )
We can't wait to return to this lovely home for another vacation.

All the comforts of home!

Our stay at Martha's Lane was fabulous! We loved every bit of it.
The house was beautiful and exactly as described. We stayed June 1-12th and the weather was less than cooperative, the house was perfect for those stuck inside days. Very clean and well equipped for guests. Our kids spent hours in the basement with the ping pong table. All the amenities of home on vacation is a outstanding perk to this house! Very close to local restaurants, stores and the ocean, but still tucked away from everything. We didn't want to leave & we can't wait to go back! This house was was perfect for our Cape Cod vacation.
