The Tioga Falls Cabin on 80 private acres is a very unique vacation experience. Do you love to connect with nature? Have you always wanted to experience living 'off the grid'? Can you (and everyone in your group) accept the imperfections and pitfalls of what the bugs, little creatures and weather may bring to an area? As much as I would like to hope it is, the Tioga Falls Cabin isn't for everyone.
In consideration of many of my city friends level of comfort, it is a challenge to be so secluded and surrounded by nothing but the log cabin and nature itself.
Everyone in your group must be avid, authentic,outdoor-loving people. This is a technology-FREE vacation. Cell phones don't work well at all. It's not for everyone, yet absolutely IDEAL for the right people. In this environment, one unhappy or non-outdoorsy person in the group has a direct, negative impact on everyone traveling together in this secluded space.
Have you every backpacked or camped in a tent, at any point in your life? Did you love the experience? Please ask this question to everyone in your group. If your answer is yes, then this is the ideal creature comfort step-up you've been looking for. As a backpacker myself, as I age, I find myself deeply appreciating the indoor plumbing and sleeping on a standard mattress that an experience such as staying in this gorgeous, custom-crafted log cabin deep, in the U.P. woods, provides.
Sitting on the fully screened-in porch watching and listening to the soothing waterfalls below as you enjoy the amenities from home, feels as though you are truly in the heart of a wilderness oasis. Fish for trout to your heart's content. Canoe down the river. Melt into your vacation within the 80 wooded acres surrounding the cabin and take this opportunity to truly get away from it all. Drive the 2 mile 2-track trail from the main road into this peaceful log cabin. Wade in the water, hike around the property, fish and read a good book. Perfect for the family vacation that will be remembered by all. Or the romantic retreat for two. Fall asleep to the gentle sound of water falls right out your window! Your nature-loving family will love this unique, full log home to call home for a week and beg to return again. Perfect privacy and relaxation. Escape from technology, though most cell phones do work if you must turn them on. Cozy up to the wood stove with the provided wood.
Fly Fishing: The Tioga is an excellent brook trout stream with slow and fast moving sections plus beaver ponds. The Sturgeon is an excellent brown and brook trout stream.
This 80 acre property is surrounded by state forest.
Paddle down the river in the provided canoe. The Tioga River runs next to the cabin and the Sturgeon River is 1000 feet from the cabin door. There are marked trails throughout the property.
Sturgeon River: Paddle down the river in the provided canoes. The Tioga River runs next to the cabin and the Sturgeon River is 1000 feet from the cabin door. There are marked trails throughout the property.
The cabin experience, deep in the woods: After carefully driving the 2 mile 2-track rocky road toward the cabin, you will find the cabin resting perched almost on top of the soothing Tioga Falls. If you are interested in staying at the cabin, you need to keep in mind that you are actually in the wilderness. Nature abounds, creatures great and small are part of your experience. Yes, there are bugs when you explore the woods. Please bring your insect repellent. Still, the fully screened in (floor included) porch protects you inside.
The cabin is ideal for outdoorsy couples seeking romance and peace or for small families with older children who don't need to be entertained by technology, yet love to fish, explore, hike and read books, with most of the creature comforts of home. It can be challenging with more than 1 couple traveling together, as there is only 1 bedroom door. A outdoorsy couple, small outdoorsy family or a group of 6 or fewer friends have had the most positive experience at Tioga Falls
It can be a challenge if any member of your group is afraid of the sounds, sites or smells of the wilderness. Plus, everyone in your group must be able to entertain themselves (fishing, reading, exploring nature, listening to the radio) in order to enjoy the woodsy experience.
A true dream for someone who truly loves and appreciates nature, exactly as it is, with many of the creature comforts from home.
An opportunity to truly live green.
The sound of waterfalls-- all day and all night. A deep relaxation experience like no other.
