About The Owner

As a family, we have been diving for years and it the hobby has taken us in many places, from the Caribbean to the Galapagos Islands. Cozumel is the place where we have been coming back again and again for the beautiful reef and the our mexican friends, first in our timeshare and finally in our own home.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005
Why The Owner chose Cozumel

We have been going to Cozumel for years, love the place the people and the diving. At some point, we decided to buy our own place and share it with family and friends and rent it so others can appreciate how beautiful the island is. Costa Del Sol is perfectly located, not far from town, yet secluded enough to be quiet. For divers and snorkelers, the reef (Tormentos, Yukab, Palmas) is right in front of the community and Palancar is 15 mn away by boat).

What makes this house unique

Being an avid diver, I really love the quietness and the fact that I only have to walk to the end of the community pier to be picked up by the diving boat.

The 2nd floor patio is also something we particularly love. Partially covered with a Palapa, it's the perfect spot to nap in the hammock when the sun is high in the afternoon. At night, we like to gather with our friends around drinks and have dinner while enjoying the last rays of light on the water.

Best Vacation EVER!

WOW! Those are the first, second, and third words out of the mouths of all of our guests who came and shared time with us during the month of April, 2013. We rented this beautiful home in Cozumel to celebrate my retirement and invited family and friends to visit us on the island. The home is beyond wonderful, better than any pictures or "advertisement" can describe it. My only concern in writing this review is that EVERYONE might find out how awesome this home is and it might be hard to find open time to return! However, writing less than how spectacular our stay was wouldn't be fair to the terrific owner, Michel, and to the caring and attentive property managers, Rodrigo and Amber.

Michel was very easy to communicate with and it was wonderful to stay in his vacation home for a whole month. The home has been decorated with much thought. There are pictures Michel has taken on dives adorning the walls, along with splendid handmade quilts made by Michel's wife. The master suite is the whole second floor and includes a walk-in closet and it's own central air conditioning unit and thermostat. The second floor also has a spectacular partially covered patio 1700 square foot outdoor living area, and has a great view of the ocean. Many hours were passed in complete luxury here, talking, relaxing, and watching beautiful sunsets.

The kitchen is great and has everything you need, including the required tropical paradise equipment like a blender for the frozen drinks. The coffee pot gave out one morning, but a quick email to Rodrigo and a new coffee pot appeared before the next morning! We can't say enough incredible things about property managers Rodrigo and Amber - THEY are what make a GREAT house into an AWESOME vacation experience.

Rodrigo helped our kids set up their diving (past reviewers wrote more on this and we found it all to be absolutely true!) and other trips. But he truly saved Uncle Dave's vacation when Rodrigo assisted us at the police station in filling out ten pages of official reports when Uncle Dave lost his passport! He turned a possibly miserable experience into a manageable situation that has become an infamous story about visiting the Mexican police station (not part of the planned tour!). After that adventure the massages we scheduled at the house with Fabis were exceptionally relaxing!!

Thank you again, Michel, Rodrigo, and Amber! We have been to Cozumel a number of times in the past, but this was THE BEST!
Owner's Response: It was my pleasure to have you as a guest. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at our place. It is true that Amber and Rodrigo make a real difference with their dedication and professionalism. We have been working together for 7 years and the feedback is always excellent. Thank you on their behalf.

Big nice house! This was a 3 generations trip with both my kids and my parents, and 3 of my siblings. plenty of space for us to be together, or hide from each other. 3 big bedrooms, big bathrooms, big balcony/deck. Easy access to the pool and the ocean. Split level pool was perfect for my kids(5, 4 yrs). The area is very secure little neighborhood type place. There is a small conrete ramp just a few yards north of the pier that was perfect for launching our kayaks. And a nice litle patch reef out beyond the bouy line, great for a refresher dive before our boat dives. Dive boats pick up right at the pier which saves a ton of time. Morning boat dive days were 9-noon instead of 8-1pm. That really helped get in other activities with the non divers in our group. The photos posted don't really give you a good idea of things. Better than I expected!

Nine days in Paradise

We found Casa Caterina to be the perfect place for our dive vacation in Cozumel. We had seven family members who all found plenty of room to relax. Being so close to the beach and dive boat pickup and drop-off at the property pier was convenient which enhanced the diving experiences for six divers. The home had plenty of room and space for the extra equipment, a place to rinse and dry the dive gear, and an inviting pool to relax in the afternoons, after a busy morning diving.
I recommend getting a rental car for runs to the grocery and town if you plan to do your own cooking. Taxis are readily available by requests through the condo security guard and will run about $10 us/person one way into town. The internet service worked well and made it easy to stay in touch with family back home.
The owner and property manager were very helpful and provided a wealth of information upon arrival about the area and tips for many items. The closest hotel is the Sabor.

We had 3 couples, and each couple had their own bedroom and bath. A perfect combination.
The house was just like advertised, perfect in every way.
Not many other people there at this time, so was pretty private. Only saw a couple of others at the pool.
I would recommend a rental car, as it is very seculded and away from everything. That's what made it so relaxing and wonderful.
We dove with Dive House, and drove the car to their pier. But you can have the dive boats pick up on the pier at the property if you like.
Cooking facilities were very adequate. There are many resturants on Cozumel also, if you prefer going out. We did several times.
The owner and property mangers were very helpful. The property Manager met us at the airport, arranged for transportation, then met us at the house to go over everything. On the 1st day we noticed a lot of ants. Spoke with Property Manager about, and they had the area sprayed immediately. No more ants.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking at renting a house in Cozumel.

If I ever get back to Couzmel, I would certainly rent this house again.

Awesome Villa, Best Vacation Ever!

We were greeted at the airport by Amber who works for the management company. She was so pleasant and helpful in arranging for our transportation from the airport to the villa, which was about a 15 minute drive. Stopped at Margaritaville right next to the taxi stand at the airport for 'ritas to go and started our week in paradise. Got to the villa and was met by Rodrigo, who works with Amber, who showed us around the house and property and gave us some great tips on places to go, things to do, and places to eat. We settled in and fell in love with the place! Beautiful, spacious home that is very nicely decorated. Very clean and as shown in the photos. Very comfortable for two couples and our daughters. We happened to schedule for the week of Carnivale - what a bonus! Got to experience the parades, dancers, floats, and fun for the two biggest nights- it was really a treat. We bought groceries at both Mega and Chedraui at different times during the week and cooked in a lot - easily reached by taxi - just walk up to the front security desk and ask for a taxi. Had divers in our group, they loved being picked up at our own pier and it was a short trip out to the dive sites, and we also snorkeled right off the beach. Best snorkeling was a little ways farther out than we had in Bahamas, but still enjoyable. We booked a driver one day to take us around the island to the ruins, and along the 'wild' side of the island so we could beach bar hop. Great day, wish we had skipped the ruins - interesting, but took up too much of our fun time. Definitely check out Coconuts on the beach if you get a chance. Great blue margaritas!
All in all, it was a much needed, and most relaxing vacation we've ever had. Would go back to Casa Catarina in a heartbeat. Loved the villa, the location, and loved meeting and interacting with the locals. I'd hate to recommend it to others simply because I'd want it to be available when I wanted to go there!!

We have been to Cozumel a number of times. This time we had the pleasure of staying at Casa Catarina. Amber and Rodrigo were wonderful and quickly available if we had any needs or questions. The house is beautiful, large, clean, with lovely furnishings, beds, and bathrooms - really a wonderful, top notch property. The sunsets from the 2nd floor patio are amazing. The community is secure, and prestine, well groomed and just beautiful. We will return to Casa Catarina again. Thank you, Michel, for opening your home to us! Wendy

Amazing deal for a relaxing stay

This is the best deal in Cozumel. The house is gigantic with plenty of room to spread out and has an awesome rooftop patio for laying out, cooking, and enjoying the view. The villa is clean and provides everything you need. A word of advice: please hire Filo to cook for you! He is a local chef that is available to come and prepare dinner or breakfast with plenty of options to choose from. The food is outstanding. The pool and beach are great for relaxing in the sun- but if you want more of a big, sandy beach I recommend taking a taxi to Chakinaab Park.

Casa Catarina - Paradise Found

We would highly recommend Casa Catarina to anyone looking at renting a home in Cozumel! We traveled with four small children. The home, pool, and beach could not have been more suited for small children. The home is nicely appointed and has plenty of room. It was very clean and had all of the needed accoutrements including HDTV and iPod docking station. The property management team of Rodrigo and Amber were very helpful and responsive. The DVD player was broken when we arrived. We contacted Amber and Rodrigo and about the issues and they had a new one for us the very same day. We booked catering through Rodrigo which was wonderful. He booked a local cook/chef to come to Casa Catarina to prepare breakfast and dinner for our family. This was a wonderful experience. The home is in a secure development with very helpful security personnel. I would recommend renting a car as it makes shopping and sightseeing very convenient. We are planning to return in 2013. Thank you Michel for allowing us to rent your wonderful home!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have you and your family as our guests. I am sorry that you found the DVD player not working. We try to make sure that everything in the house is in working order and that one slipped through the cracks. I apologize for the inconvenience and I am glad that we could help you with a working player the same day.

Vacation in Paradise

We can't say enough about how pleased we were with our recent stay at Casa Catarina. Rodrigo met us at the airport and led us to the house and showed us all the amenities. We certainly weren't expecting the house to be in such great condition as we didn't realize it wasn't that old. All the other rental properties we have been to in the past were definitely showing their signs of age. The place was clean and spacious and the only bump in our stay were some issues with the hot tub temperatures. Seems like a thermostat was malfunctioing and a couple nights it was so hot we couldn't get in while the last couple nights it didn't heat up at all. But that didn't stop us from enjoying our time there. We would definitely stay there again.

My family and I spent 10 days in this lovely home. The pictures were very accurate but we did not realize how large the home was. The caretakers where very attentive, Amber met us as soon as we arrived, and was very helpful. Her partner Rodrigo was available for question by phone at all times to answer any question. The house was immaculate & contained everything you would need to make you feel at home, including DVD movies and books. We enjoyed the 2nd story deck every morning for breakfast with the peaceful view of the ocean. The grounds were meticulously maintained. We will definitely return to this home for our next family vacation in Cozumel.
