Great Location, Clean Apt, Exactly as Advertised.

My wife, two children, and father-in-law stayed here for a week on our visit to DC. We came there to sightsee and visit all of the DC attractions. This location is perfect, a close walk to the capitol and very close to the bus and subway.

The apartment was clean and exactly as advertised. There is a washer and dryer to use free of charge and parking on the street is available with a parking pass from the owner, Larry. (Just don't park anywhere close to a fire hydrant, the DC police will quickly write you up!....unfortunately I know)
The owner is very friendly and very helpful.

If you are staying for more than a few days, I highly recommend getting an unlimited bus pass, you have to buy these at one of the sales locations for Metro though. They do not offer them on the bus or at the machines. They are only 16 dollars per person, you will well pay for it over and over if you are going to be going sightseeing.

You will definitley get the feel of living in the big city here......this location is in a nice area of town where it is safe to walk and it is so close to everything. We had an outstanding vacation and I would definitely stay here again.

our family of 5, (2 adults, 3 teenagers) rented this apt and it was terrific. Larry, the owner couldn't have been nicer. the apt itself was clean, and easy to locate. Parking on the street was tight but he had a parking pass that we placed on our dash, parked the car nearby and left it there until we were departing. The train station is only a 5 min walk and from there, the rest of DC is at your fingertips.
As I mention in the title, it's all about location. For us, the best part of this place was there were so many choices for restaurants all within a 2 min. walk.. No chain restaurants so you get a real feel for local taste and there was a wide variety of restaurants and bars to choose from..
Great all around choice for us

Great Apartment and Conveniently Located

We are a family of four (boys 14 and 10) and we found this apartment to be just what we were looking for. The Eastern Market area is perfectly located to mostly everything you might need. The metro station is just a block away and The Capitol is only about a 10 minute walk. A major plus to this location is that there is a street lined with restaurants only a block away. We never had to go very far to find dinner plus a variety of different cuisines to please the whole family. The apartment was clean, had a well stocked kitchen, a nice TV with satellite and dvd player, and plenty of room to move around. Larry was quick to respond to my e-mails and gave us detailed information on everything we would need in order to access the apartment. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment and the area to any one who is looking for a stress free way to vacation in Washington D.C.

A Perfect Location

Our family visited DC for the 4th of July. We could not have asked for a better location. Just a few blocks from the Metro. I have to admit that the AC was a life saver with all of the heat. Larry made check-in easy. He had great maps of the area showing where the supermarket and Metro were located. If you do not have a car, this spot is great.

We stayed in the apartement with our 2 daughters (ages 12 and 14) for two weeks. We enjoyed our stay very much and were fully satisfied. The girls had their own bedroom which was very convenient. The livingroom and the master bedroom were pleasant big. Everything was clean and the internet-description of the apartement was accurate. The kitchen had everything what is important for everyday life. I really enjoyed the modern toaster and the big fridge. We have been sightseeing all day long so we didn“t feel like cooking in the evening and carried in food or ate out. But everything necessary for cooking was there. We all enjoyed the big TV and the modern stereosystem. We could use the internet in the hall. The washingmachine and dryer had to be shared with the other guests which worked fine.
The metrostation was just around the corner but everything was in walking distance (german people walk a lot).
Larry the landlord was always there if we needed help or advice. He invited us to a boattrip and showed us the sights of Washington from the Potomac view. The impression will last a lifetime!
We can only recommend this apartment, you will feel welcome right away!

What more could you ask for?

We've just returned from 2 weeks in this apartment. (actually, we got the one across the hall, but they look very similar).
Larry, the owner, made us feel very welcome and pointed out local amenities and restaurants. He even took us and our neighbours, across the hall, on a river cruise in his motor cruiser. He lived in the building and so was available to help with any problems.
It's ideally situated, with metro and buses just minutes away at the top of the street. In fact, they're not really necessary. We soon discovered that the Capitol building, was just a 15-20 minute walk away. All the major attractions (Smithsonian, White House, Memorials etc) are just a short walk beyond the Capitol. If you're feeling lazy, though, the metro and buses are very frequent and cheap.
We wanted to travel further afield, so hired a car. Larry arranged a parking permit for us as soon as we arrived. This was the only slight inconvenience, and of course not Larry's fault. Due to shops and restaurants being just a block away, parking was sometimes difficult. We've rented city centre condos in the past that have parking in the basement, and that would have been an advantage here, but I didn't see any properties offering that facility in this area. We never failed to get a space, but it was sometimes in a neighbouring street.
The laundry facilities were shared and were on a mezzanine level, half a floor above us. This wasn't a problem, and my wife absolutely loved the machine - having twice the capacity of our British machines (therefore only having to wash half as often)
I agree with an earlier review, that the lack of a dining table was not ideal, but the breakfast bar was an acceptable substitute.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to stay in the DC area. You will instantly feel right at home.
Larry .. if you're reading this .. sorry we didn't say goodbye. We left early and didn't feel it was fair to ring your doorbell at that time, on a weekend. Thanks for a great stay.

My family just stayed in the apartment for a week and everything was great. Just as the description says. Historic, updated building, very close to the Eastern Market metro station area, and right off Pennsylvania Avenue. There were restaurants and a CVS in easy walking distance and street parking available as well.
We would stay there again and Larry was an excellent host.
Thanks!

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 2 boys ages 10 and 6 and couldn't have been happier! It was just as described online. Very clean, comfortable and convenient! Washer and dryer a great plus as well as the full kitchen. We felt very safe and Larry was so helpful and readily available if you needed anything. Many restaurants around the corner, as well as Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts, and CVS across the street. Metro station about 1.5 blocks.... so convenient and easy to ride the Metro. We would without hestiation recommend this apartment to friends and family! It had all the conveniences of home and it will be hard to stay in a hotel after this wonderful experience!

Great building close to many DC attractions

Our week long DC vacation could not have been in a better location. A short walk to Eastern Market station meant that all DC attractions were just a train ride/transfer away. Food on 8th st just a block away from varied and very good for a quick bite for lunch or a nice sit-down dinner. Larry the owner was on site to answer any questions we may have had but the room had lists, maps and guides already available. The unit was well kept, clean and very spacious with high 10ft ceilings. The unit had two window AC units that kept the unit nice and cool despite the record setting heat during our stay. The unit is just a 15min walk away from Good Stuff Eatery probably one of the best burgers I've had anywhere. The amenities at this property allowed us to shop at a nearby safeway for breakfast items like snacks, waters, bagels and coffee etc to load up on before heading out for the day to experience DC. We also had a rental car but Larry was able to provide a temporary parking pass and we rarely parked more than half a block away from the property. The car was used to visit places that were a little further away from the metro stations like The National Cathedral, Basilica and Kennedy Center. All other sites we were able to reach using the nearby metro station.I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for an alternative to hotel living.

Great Location for DC tourists

This was the most convenient and perfect location ever for touring the attractions around the Mall. Everything was clean and convenient. We selected an apartment because of the ability to cook, and there is a grocery store nearby, but there were so many inexpensive and good restaurants a block over we ended up going out for meals. The Thai and Mediterranean restaurants on 8th were fantastic.

There are three double beds in two bedrooms--this is a perfect spot for a family to stay and is very reasonable given the location and the kitchen and free laundry facilities. It is on the second floor of an old building and is a walkup so not recommended for elderly or disabled travelers.
