Nice place but disappointed
I regret having to write this negative experience after all the wonderful reviews. Mine would have been a good review as well if not for my disappointment when I called Maria to follow up on the refund deposit check and she said if I did not receive she would need to put a stop payment on the check of which I would have to pay ($27) plus charge me $25-$35 management fee (the amount went up from $25 to $35 when I questioned the fee). She said she sent the check to an address I don't believe I put on the rental agreement but rather was on the return envelope. I requested several times for a copy of rental agreement wherein I would have filled out the wrong address and she has refused to send me the copy that was filled out completely. I'm not sure why it's my fault the check did not get to me and why she needs to charge $25-$35 to write out another check.
Owner's Response: A rental contract is a part of every transaction. All Vacation rentals typically have a rental agreement attached to specify the obligations for both management and vacationer.
There are provisions in the agreement that obligate each of the parties.
One of the provisions in the contract obligates a tenant who pays by check to indicate the return address to where the refund check is to be mailed. Another provision in the contract obligates the party that does not fulfill an obligation, to pay the other's out of pocket costs.
Tenant indicated a Md Address as a return address. When Tenant did not receive the mail,, Tenant said that she was at a Florida Address and that the mail did not reach her because a neighbor was mishandling the mail at her Md Address in absentia . Much later the story changed to another story:that she had really indicated a Florida address on the contract; however there was no Florida Address indicated; if there had been, management would have mailed it to to the Florida address.
Tenant didn't want to pay management out of pocket cost for a stop payment from the beginning: Stated that she wanted to wait to see if she could find the mail in Md or if it would be returned to sender, thus saving her cost for stop payment etc.
To try to accomodate the request , Management went to accounting to track the transaction and kept in touch via many emails to/from the Tenant to accomodate her wish to wait for the full refund check to come to her Md Address: costing management personnel time (costs: $35 an hour) of which she was aware. Ultimately, when she decided she would not find the mail at her Md address +.it was not returned to sender, she complained that she wanted her the check: that management was delaying!.Management then paid for a stop payment and management personnel billed for 1/2 the time:operating at a loss.
It is clear to us that this person, perhaps like some in today's worlld, does not want to honor her agreements:she is disgruntled because she does not want to be held accountable for what she did.. In order to "get even" she to take the five star rating that we have earned for the hundreds of transactions down to a three star?
She also was not truthful: Many copies of the contract she signed were sent to her
