What an amazing find!
There are not many single family homes on the Cape that boast five bedrooms. This house is unusual for having a second floor space with two very large bedrooms and a half bath, in addition to the three regular sized bedrooms with a full bath on the first floor. There is also an outdoor shower with hot & cold running water, and copious amounts of clothesline for hanging out your damp clothes and towels. Ten people really can comfortably all stay here together, unlike some of the places that have a sleep sofa in the living room as one of the "bedrooms." The decor is a little older, but comfy; everything was very clean & well-maintained; and the kitchen is equipped for all your basic needs with pots/pans/china & plastic plates/utensils/coffee machine/dishwasher(!)/etc. The screen porch is a total bonus, and can be used either as an entryway/storage area, or a breezy evening hang out space. The owner was very solicitous, happy to provide more info, and checked in to make sure everything was as expected. We found everything to be as described, and the location is superb, just 2/10ths (0.2) of a mile from the closest South Shore Drive beach, but set back on a quiet loop (kind of like a cul de sac). Three to five minute walk for adults, a little more with toddlers. And Skippers Restaurant just opened an ice cream window this summer, a two minute walk if you use the stairs that provide a path through the Village Green Motel property. A special note to parents: We stayed here with two 2 year olds and a six month old comfortably. A few doorknob covers and cabinet locks, and some minor furniture reconfiguring were all we needed to do; there is not too much decorative clutter or precious antiques/glass tabletops/etc., like you find in some rentals. There is a solid door on both the top and bottom of the stairs to the second floor, and a high (above child's reach) lock on the basement door. And you all know how valuable having access to a washer and dryer can be with kids. The yard was a good play space for shady games, a baby pool we brought, etc. The rental comes with a volleyball net and there is even a ping pong set up in the basement. We hope to return next summer too! Beyond the beach: ZooQuarium, Cape Cod Baseball League, day trips to other Cape towns; tons of mini-golf/shopping/etc. Places to eat: Captain Parker's, Pancake Man; Sweet Tomatoes Pizza; Great Island Bakery (so good!); Seafood Sam's. (Our favorites, there are many, many more options)
