This charming bungalow is located in the Travis Heights neighborhood - just south of downtown and just east of the trendy South Congress (SoCo) shopping district. Built in 1949 by a local craftsman this 3 BR/2 BA 2,000 sq ft home features front work of native Texas limestone and decorative stucco on the remaining sides.
On the main floor there is a living room with a large picture window over looking the tree-lined street and a dining room that opens on to a second-story deck. There's also a furnished vintage kitchen updated to include a microwave/convection oven and a 5-burner gas range.
Close to South Congress Ave, downtown Austin and Lady Bird lake this location is perfect for visitors interested in all that Austin has to offer.
It's even a quick trip to Memorial Stadium on UT game days!

About The Owner
I bought this house in January of 1998 - just as the neighborhoods around downtown Austin were experiencing a true renaissance. The home was purchased from the daughter of the original owner and I've done my best to stay true to the 1940's styling (with a few modern updates, of course). In June of 2008 I moved a bit further north but decided to keep this house. We enjoy it on open weekends and someday hope to retire here.

my family stayed here on two separate occasions a few months apart: the first when we were house hunting in ATX and again when we were actually meeting the movers at our new home. everything was stress free and easy (during an otherwise very stressful time!). the property was centrally located and clean clean clean clean clean. we had infant twins at the time and this house was perfect (two pack n plays on site! that alone saved hours of stress :)). although we now have a guest room, I would send visiting friends and family to stay here in a heartbeat and wish I myself had a reason to visit again. thank you, sam!

Excellent choice for a weekend in Austin!

We had several family members coming in for a wedding in Austin, and this house was the perfect solution! It was clean, well-kept and very comfortable. Sam was easy to get in touch with and happy to help. The location is great and the house had everything we needed, including beach towels for our boat excursion on Town Lake. And we got to bring our dog, which is always a plus. We will definitely stay there again!

The owners thought of everything! Made our stay very comfortable. Was very clean and well maintained. We had questions of the owers and they were very responsive. Will stay there again the next time we visit in Austin and will definitely recommend to other family members when they travel to Texas to visit our new baby twins.

Perfect location, great house

We all had a great time celebrating my sons 21st birthday. The house is a perfect location to many of Austins attractions. The home is furnished nicely, clean with comfy beds, pillows and linens. The kitchen had everything we needed. We spent a good deal of time out on the deck, just perfect. Excellent location for us all to get together. One son in San Antonio the other in Austin. We plan on coming again. Thanks for sharing your home.

Wow! What an amazing house this was. It had everything you can possibly need. It was a much better experience than staying in a hotel. People were jealous when we told them that we rented a beautiful 3 bed 2 bath home in Austin. They wished they had done the same. This is a perfect location for everything you possibly want to do. The bus being two houses down was amazing and the food around here impeccable.
I would recommend this house as a great rental. We saved a lot of money just by the fact we were able to bring our own food in. I hope to come back to Austin one day and this will be the place where I stay again.
