The property was exactly as described. The kitchen was outfitted for all kinds of cooking and very clean. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the linens better than at home! The beach was close and the neighbors were friendly. We had planned on eating out many of the evenings, but with a grill and williing cooks, we stayed in and brought fresh food in each night to prepare. We golfed one day while the ladies went shopping, but the buld of the time was spent relaxing on the beach and enclosed proch. The young ones had to be connected to work with their laptops and were happy with the speed. We are a board game playing family and the ones on site were great. The dining room table was the center of operations each day and plans were made while enjoying great food. We are planning on returning in 2012 for another great week before heading to Virginia for one of the kids to get married. When we retire, we would like to book the house and bring in our retired friends for a great get together. We really enjoyed the laid back quiet location compared to the beach locations down south.

40th Wedding Anniversary Vacation: 7/23 - 8/6/11

We invited our four children and their families to spend time with us at this beautiful, well kept secluded beach house that borders the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge. It was everything as advertised: beautifully decorated, immaculately clean throughout, half a block to the beach which was never crowded, golf course within 5 miles, and board walk action at Rehoboth within 10 miles. A great family vacation spot. No noise, a quiet street to walk, run or bike with minimal traffic. If you want to get away to spend quiet, quality time with your family and recharge your battery, this is the place. We can't say enough good things about it, other than it was great, great, great!!! We just hope that it doesn't become too popular so we can book the week we'll want in the future.

A Note from the Owners

Thanks kindly to all of our guests who have taken the time to submit a review, and for all of your positive feedback! We too enjoy spending quiet relaxing days at the beach house, and thanks to our guests for noting that we've done our best to make it comfortable and luxury.

I'd also like you to note that we were not aware that our current housekeeper has been leaving the house less than spotless, and we are taking immediate steps to ensure that the cleanliness of the house matches the quality service that we provide!

much to offer

Our motley crew included naturists, beachcombers, & those not fond of sand. And, we all had a great time!

Check-in process is simple & easy.
The home is lovely, and the perfect distance from the beach/bay, and close to Rehoboth.

The home appears to be well cared for, but was not super-clean upon our arrival. Previous guests must have left a mess, apparently more than the housekeeper could manage during the 5-hour turnover time. Everything was neat, but bathroom floors had quite a bit of hair, and just about every surface in the kitchen was sticky. Half-eaten jar of salsa in the fridge, and petrifiied peas and bread all over the counters were a few of the low-lights. The rest of the common areas were clean and tidy.

After cleaning up the previous guests' mess we were able to enjoy the many, many assets of this property (listed, in no particular order):

-roomy floor plan
-fantastic crow's nest
-friendly and responsive owners
-linens! nice sheets with extra sets, plenty of bath and beach towels, no need to bring a thing!
-location. best in Broadkill!
-garage. HUGE. storage area for your rafts, bikes, and all the other things you don't want to tote inside.
-private outdoor shower
-comfortable beds (though the masters are up HIGH)
-HUGE walk-in closet in second floor master. we used it as our 2-year-old's bedroom. perfect!
-wifi
-TWO screened porches. you'll love them after sunset!
-three nice bathrooms, plus a powder room
-did i mention location???
-kayaks. awesome!
-sand toys, floats, tubes, bikes, and even a shovel. pack light! chill-a-while has got you covered.
-across-the-street neighbors are more than happy to chat, you can glean some good information from them.
-Broadkill beach! YES, you will get bitten by mosquitoes and other flying nasties while you're here. But the beach is a real charmer, and well worth the itching! Check weather reports for wind speed & direction, a good breeze off the bay keeps the buggies away :) bring your bug spray, and enjoy!

a few caveats:
-noise travels between rooms/floors. bring fans or other white noise for light sleepers.
-one tv. not a problem for us, but might be for some.
-garbage. goes on monday. which means looking at full, smelly cans for two days.
-bikes are suitable for two adults and one older child (say, age 10+). that third bike was an awkward size for our group, glad we brought a couple of our own.
-beach is stony. bring surf shoes

4 adults, 2 toddler and an infant spent the week at the Chill a While and it was PERFECT. We've rented other beach houses before but things that made this place the best yet are:
1) Owners were helpful, responsive and overall really really nice
2) House is fully stocked with almost EVERYTHING you might need. Linens, paper products, pantry items (spices, oil etc), bikes and kayaks, beach chairs... This helps immensely with travel especially with children.
3) The home was impeccable and clean and truly a wonderful place. The beach is barely a walk away and the views are spectacular.
4) Rehobath, Bethany, Cape May and Lewes are literally right down the road.

I can't wait to book vacation next year. BEST EVER!

We loved Chill a While!

Chill a While was exactly as represented on this website, it was beautiful! The owners were completely responsive to any questions we had and the neighbors were wonderful and helpful. Our family and friends enjoyed our time together as we prepared to celebrate our son's wedding in Dover. Everything we needed was found in the house, so we barely needed more than food! We did not have to deal with the stress of beach traffic, but everything we wanted was easily available. We were blessed to stay there.

Our family spent an entire week here and it was nothing short of fabulous. It is a perfect spot for friends or family. It was less than 100 steps to the beach, and the views from each deck are amazing. This property is highly recommended and the owners were great to work with. Also the golf course a short trip up the road was great fun too. Thanks for our new favorite spot and we can’t wait to rent it again. The Davis Famliy.

I spent the weekend at Broadkill Beach with my daughters. We had an absolute wonderful time, and the house was beautiful. So close to "touristy" areas, yet secluded enough when you just want some down time. We took in the outlet malls close by and the Rehobeth Beach Boardwalk one day, and spent the next enjoying ourselves on the quiet beach. We will return again and again!

This is a fabulous property. The house was furnished beautifully with all the necessities already furnished. The neighborhood is quiet and very relaxing. There is plenty of beach access. The drive to Rehobeth is relatively short. Even though we only stayed for a weekend, we had a fantastic time at Broadkill Beach and hope to return over the summer.
