YOUR UNFORGETABLE VISIT TO SAVANNAH: …begins with a 45 minute ride under a canopy of ancient Oaks draped with Spanish Moss. When you arrive in historic Savannah, you will find tourist-related businesses as you do in any place that attracts a lot of visitors – T-Shirt shops, bars, carriage rides, walking tours “hop on-hop off” tours, beaches, boats and so on. But you will also find the friendliest locals and a city, due to its original planning, that is a comfortable place to visit, to absorb the past, revel in beautiful architecture, squares and parks, and interesting sites not readily available anywhere but in the south.
What makes Savannah historic? Lots! It was founded in 1733 by James Oglethorpe, who arrived from England with 114 settlers. Lore has it that those 114 were poor, persecuted men and women who were seeking a new life in the new world. This turns out to be just one of the many myths connected with Savannah’s history. Savannah’s roots are pre-Revolutionary War, ancient in America’s terms.
We are Bob and Pat and we absolutely love HHI, having moved from upstate New York several years ago, and enjoy helping others discover the magic of “paradise.” We lived in our villa (By the way, in case you are wondering, villa and condo are terms used interchangeably) for the first two years of our ownership. We loved living there and miss it immensely but our careers made living in Bluffton a necessity. We have been renting and managing our villa for 10 years. It has been a great experience as we have met wonderful people and have made some great friends. We have had guests for as long as 4 months and as brief as 3 days, with most of our guests staying for a week. Since we strive to provide our guests with a great experience, we are encouraged as we continue to receive very favorable comments from our guests. Each year we do some refurbishing, some years more extensive than others but we have invested several thousands in the last three years.
Another unique aspect to the experience we offer for weekly rentals, when requested, is a complimentary, conditions permitting, Dolphin Cruise. We enjoy watching Dolphins and find them very entertaining and often quite friendly or curious. Since we use our 27 foot Bowrider, large enough to handle several people safely and comfortably and nimble enough to move to where the Dolphins are. That is a distinct advantage over being on a large commercial vessel which is not only less maneuverable but also has you several feet from the Dolphins. If you request this experience, bring a camera as you will have some great photo ops. Many have said, that while they loved everything about their vacation, the Dolphin Cruise was the highlight.
