Clean and Convenient Chicago Apartment

The view was great but the access to public transportation and the overall neatness and cleanliness were more important factors to us. The Green and Pink lines are at the Ashland Station (on Lake Street, a 3 block walk). Garage parking space comes with apartment, and access to building is by coded key (there is a guard on duty much of the time). Grocery is not within walking distance but a Dominik's is easily reached by car about 1.5 miles away (Halsted at Madison). Owner was easily reached by cell phone and questions were answered promptly by him or a friend whose number he provided. We had two grandchildren with us and enjoyed the spacious apartment with two bedrooms, two baths, and a large living area. Wireless was good and our notebook computer was handy to have with us...gave us all the info we needed on Chicago. No TV in bedrooms but that was no problem since we don't watch TV anyway. One high table and two bar stool type chairs were inadequate for dining but there was a card table and folding chairs that we set up and we got by ok. the cooking area and refrigerator were beautiful and quite functional. Dishes and cooking utensils were adequate. There was no garbage disposal, but trash bags and trash chute were available so it was fine. We didn't find restaurants or other activities in the immediate area but we were on the grand tour (of museums) rather than looking for fine dining, so it didn't matter. We did order in from one restaurant the guard recommended, using the menus the owner has provided, and enjoyed the service. We bought 3 day transportation passes at a check-cashing facility and we were quite willing to get around by bus and train, leaving our car in the garage. We would stay here again when we return to Chicago. Try it out, you will like it if you are looking for comfort, convenience, and privacy. It's not luxurious but it certainly met our needs.
