Peaceful, yet close to amenities.

Red Gate Cottage is a very charming cottage in a nice location on the north side of Asheville. It is very convenient to grocery shopping, to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and just a few minutes drive to downtown. It has the feel of being very secluded even though there are neighbors nearby. We enjoyed the yard and outdoor fire pit as well as the hot tub, however, the hot tub is not private. The kitchen and bathrooms were very nice, the living room is small but has a nice fireplace and piano. The master bedroom is also small but we had plenty of room for the 4 of us. We were greeted with some delicious cookies and a bottle of wine upon our arrival. Georgia was most accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I would recommend a stay at Red Gate Cottage. The Mellow Mushroom has excellent pizza and we loved the tapas and atmosphere at Zambra's.

Best Family Vacation

My family stayed at Red Gate Cottage, we have three children two 5 yr. olds and an 8 yr. old.We loved the yard, the berry bushes, the hot tub, the fire for roasting marshmallows, the patios and the playground. There is so much to do in Asheville and the surrounding area that we spent the days exploring and returned home in the evening to enjoy the house and the yard. We made most of our dinners at home so we could relax and enjoy the fireflies and the stars. The food store and restaurants were very close. Try the Asheville Brewing Company for dinner and a movie. We did see a family of wild Turkeys crossing the road while we picking berries one morning. It was a perfect home, with all the amenities you would need. We had the best family vacation and it was more then we could have expected. Thank you Georgia for the use of your beautiful home.

Very Clean Peaceful Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay. This cottage has wonderful amenities, the location is perfect for easy day trips to the Blue Ridge or just sitting on the deck enjoying the fire in the chiminea. We didn't want for anything - there are even robes and thongs for the hot tub! I highly recommend this cottage!

Just got back from an amazing trip to Red Gate Cottage. Visiting Asheville with 2 girlfriends (and hubbies) to run the Citizen-Times Half Marathon. The RGC was the perfect place for the 5 of us to relax before & after the race! Especially in the hot tub!!! We were greeted upon our arrival with a plate of oatmeal cookies and a bottle of wine. It doesn't get much better than that!!! The house was immaculate and had everything you need!! The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed to cook a great meal the night before our race!

I have rented a lot of vacation property through vrbo.com and Red Gate's owner, Georgia, is no doubt the most easy going and pleasant person I've dealt with yet!!

We will definitely be going back!

Perfect getaway

Red Gate Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Asheville. The cottage is accurately described and presented in the photos. However, something especially appealing about the cottage that is not fully captured in the photos are the private spaces that abound on the property. For either a group of friends or a family (especially one with pre-teens or teens), one can escape easily to a secluded spot (the lower yard with a fire pit, the hot tub in the back of the property, the outside dining area on the deck, the hammock in the upper yard, etc.) to enjoy the serenity of the mountain surroundings peacefully.
Red Gate Cottage is located off of Merrimon Avenue which has many fine restaurants and grocery stores and leads directly to downtown Asheville. It is also close to UNC Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance, as well as other attractions.
Finally, the owner is very professional and clear in her expectations of renters. Although not necessary for our stay, she graciously expressed a willingness to make accommodations for us in several regards.
In sum, Red Gate Cottage is an excellent place to stay in Asheville. We will probably return soon (especially because the facility also allows dogs) and would highly recommend it to friends (in fact, we already have).

Sister reunion

My 3 sisters and I come to the Asheville area each summer for a time together and to be near our dad who is in a nearby nursing home. We were delighted to be in the Red Gate cottage! Even though it is located near downtown Asheville, the beautiful landscaping provided a nice element of privacy. We took advantage of the fresh mountain air with open windows. We spent time in the hot tub (a must for our rentals), ate on the front deck, played board games, read, and were close enough to be with our dad some each day.
The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and the decorating charming. We liked having spaces to spread out and took advantage of the chiminea on the front deck and the fire pit and seating area down in the yard.
We were able to meet Georgia, the owner, who was very helpful, appreciated our suggestions, and gave us a fascinating history of the cottage.
We would love to return to this "perfect" hideaway!

Red Gate Cottage delivers

My wife, our three dogs and I were looking for a comfortable, mountain cabin near Asheville and stumbled across the Red Gate Cottage. I was happy with the amenities and the proximity to downtown Asheville and it was so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway but what really makes me want to go back is the vibe of the place. This place oozes charm. The owner has done a delightful rennovation (modern conveniences mixed with antique elements) and clearly cares about the landscaping and maintaining an ambience that matches the almost fairy-tale exterior facade of the cottage.

Though there is no mountain view from the property, the best view is the cottage itself. We spent the majority of our time there on the sunny deck or in the hot tub which sits around back and is accessible via an ivy-covered, stone walk that offers better privacy than most moutain cabins we've seen. Inside, I was truly surprised to find a pianao. That beats a pool table any day.

We had a great time, got to meet the owner- who is wonderful, and will be back for sure.
