This three-bedroom/two-bath home is in the village of Lubec, Maine -- on a quiet side street that looks out over Cobscook Bay. It features a 180-degree view of over 25 islands -- the nearest of which is occupied by nesting eagles.
Cobscook View is a 1900-vintage house that has been beautifully restored with both traditional charm and all the modern conveniences. The most striking feature of the house is a huge deck (700 square feet) with spectacular views down to the bay, and over ten miles up through Head Harbor Passage into Canada.
A five- to ten-minute walk will bring you to the town landing -- with its breakwater (where a dozen seals often play in the tidal currents) and the SummerKeys Music program. It's a 15-minute walk (or a five-minute drive) to Roosevelt Campobello International Park, and the beginning of a shore trail that stretches almost ten miles along the coast. And several state, national, and provincial parks and refuges are within a 20-minute drive.
The main floor of the house has a living room, dining room, kitchen, a front porch, side porch, carport, and a deck. On the second floor there are three bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, one with a double bed, and a very small room with a single bed), a bathroom, and a laundry room. Next to the deck there is a second living room that has a sleeping loft (with single and double beds), a futon-bed/couch, and another bathroom. Everything is in very good condition and we are constantly making improvements: a new deck, oak floors in the kitchen and dining room, and granite counters in the kitchen.
Please note that we only rent by the week (Sunday to Sunday) from May through October. In the winter we may be available for longer rentals ( two weeks or more). Please check the availability calendar before emailing.
At your request, we will gladly donate 10% of your rental to the Downeast Coastal Conservancy land trust to support their conservation efforts in the region.
