I want to first and foremost thank the Huber's for inviting us into this lovely home. This was not my first time staying at the Chalet - I've visited the Lake Placid Chalet numerous times throughout the years at almost all of the seasons! We've brought family and friends to come share the beauty and tranquility of this area, and many have since returned to the home for vacations of their own! Personally, I come for the relaxation and to get away from the world of noise, pollution, and constant email and cell contact (you get cell service at the house, but everyone believes you when you say "Sorry I wont be available, I dont get reception"). Since we come in groups, everyone has different agendas: Skiing, hiking, shopping, exploring rustic culture in food and wine... the list goes on, but one thing is for sure... everyone leaves satisfied. The owners of the home have created the perfect atmosphere of "getting away" yet feeling like your comfy at home... And one thing is for sure... I have kitchen envy everytime I come home...
OK - well I'm rambling, but I guess my main point is, I would recommend this vacation spot to EVERYONE! I can't wait for my next trip back!

We had a great time at the Chalet! We enjoyed all the amenties, the hot tub was a great way to unwind from all the activies we did throught the day, the chefs state of the art kitchen was great to cook our meals in and they provide everything you will need to be a professional for the week, not to mention the master bath which is very well done and great for a romantic night with the wife. These folks were very accomdating with my arrival time and the house was very clean and ready for us to use! I am very picky about where I stay and will be booking all my vacations to Lake Placid at the Chalet. I would highly recomend any thinking about renting a house to consider the Chalet. Thank you for the great time we had and the use of your house. We will booking again in the near future!!

This place is awesome. It was found to be very clean, lots of amenities, and a perfect getaway. It is well located for privacy, yet easy access to town center and the ski slopes. Just love the kitchen, fireplace, game room and gym in the basement, wrap-around deck, and great view out the front windows. Plenty of parking. Usually I do not support the owner, but that review from the one single person who rated the place 2 stars is total crap. We are definitely coming back next year!!

The Mountain View Chalet was the perfect choice for our skiing reunion trip! The location is very convenient to town (less than 10 minutes) and easy to find even when we arrived after dark. We found it to be exactly as pictured and described. The kitchen was even larger and more well stocked than we expected, which was perfect for cooking large group meals together. We loved the large fireplace and seating area for card games and relaxing after a day of skiing. Our only problem was that we received too much snow to get up to the very top of the driveway (which if you ski you know is a good problem to have!). We called the owner and he promptly had the driveway plowed and sanded for us. We enjoyed the hot tub and ping pong tables as well as the fancy spa shower in the upstairs bathroom.

If I return to the Lake Placid area I would certainly stay here again, no question. Thank you for a great Ski holiday!

The photos of this house are way nicer than the actual house. I'm very sad to say that, but it is true. We rented this home (myself, my husband, my 2 children and my parents) for a week last Summer (August 2011). We did not expect five star accomodations, but this house was not as it is pictured. When we arrived, the house was not cleaned well. The refridgerator was full of someone else's food, the griddle was so filthy we had to use oven cleaner and a paint scraper to get it clean (I would not have cooked any food on it the way it was left for us), and the dining room table was sticky - every time we put a paper plate down on it, the paper stuck to the table and we were left trying to scrape it off. While it seemed as though there were clean sheets on the beds, the matress pads and extra comforters were thrown on the floor, and most of them had stains. The bunk beds were utterly disgraceful. Luckily we only had two children in the room w/ the bunk beds, so neither child had to sleep under one box spring that was literally ducked taped together underneath. It was really gross. The basement were all the exercise equipment and the entertainment equipment was located was filthy - there were old wine bottles and beer cans all over the place, the pool table was not functioning, nor was the foosball table, and NONE of the exercise equipment was in working order. One of the reasons we chose this house is for the exercise equipment, and were unable to use any of it. We also had a problem with the water getting cold and the hot water heater needing to be reset regularly. We were not told about this issue until we arrived, and it was a bit of a problem when there were 7 people who needed showers and the water took over an hour to heat up. Overall I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the house, as the photos were beautiful and most of the other reviews (most of them much older than mine) were good. I would not recommend this home to friends, and I would never go back. The owner did refund me $50 for the cleaning issues we had, but in my opinion it wasn't nearly enough. I would've appreciated an apology for the state of the home. I just hope these issues have been fixed since last Summer as I would hate for anyone else's vacation to be ruined. Sadly, the home COULD be beautiful if it were kept up

8 of us gals decided to run the Lake Placid Marathon and had the idea to rent a house to recover in while there for the weekend. We found the Mountain View Chalet and it turned out to be the perfect fit! If you want a house you can relax in, cook in, jacuzzi in and generally just de-stress in, this place is perfect. And it's only a short drive to Main Street, Lake Placid. It was an absolute pleasure hanging out in this house for 3 nights. I would recommend it for any group getaway.

The Hubers have hit just the right balance between the homey atmosphere of the mountain cabin and the elegant luxury of the urban condo! There is something for everyone here. We were there for a long weekend with our 3 sons and 2 grandsons (3 & 7). EVERYONE was happy 24/7. No one complained about being bored. Skiing, snow shoeing, hot-tubbing, and photography kept us busy during the day while ping pong, pool, and fusball entertained the "boys" Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fun for a whole family of cooks. There were no surprises; all was as described. We had a great time and will go back again. We still haven't scratched the surface of what Lake Place and the surrounding area have to offer!

We truly enjoyed this place. It was eight of us, and we had a ball enjoying the house and the area.
