Most relaxing vacation

From the size of the "cottage" to the hospitality shown by the owners, it was the most relaxing vacation I've taken in years. The home was large, warm and inviting (especially the bottle of wine left for us upon arrival!) and the beach was literally steps away from the back yard. The sound of the surf just yards away assure a restful sleep and a peaceful calm to those fortunate enough to stay here. Liz and John were there to make sure our stay was comfortable, and to see that we had whatever it was we needed or wanted. You couldn't ask for more when looking for a quiet, secluded place to recharge your batteries. We will return...........

Hideaway in Paradise

My wife and I have recently returned from Grand Bahama, and the perfect location that is Hideaway Beach Club. Right from the start, the owners were very welcoming and provided us with everything we needed. I was a little worried if they could cater for my disabled wife, but the whole complex had great wheelchair access.
The weather was delightful and the warm waters were very inviting. I particularly enjoyed the snorkeling with lots to see among'st the reefs and water holes. My wife was able to tag along with me aboard a kayak that was supplied for us. Lots of other activities to do and when we got tired we could just lay back and enjoy the sun.
The locals were also very friendly and the town of Freeport was very special. Live entertainment in the square at night and lots of lovely bars and restaurants. The food was amazing and a large selection to choose from. The town could get very busy when the cruise ships arrived, which made Hideaway so special. It is a 30 minute drive from Freeport where it is remote but far from isolated. Meaning you could escape back to your very own, quiet piece of paradise.
All in all, a very nice location that I have recommended to my friends and family.
I am even contemplating buying one of their new apartments which are near completion.

Family Vacation

My family and I spent a week at Hideaway in April and had a wonderful time. We have two small children and were concerned about finding a vacation spot that both my husband and I could enjoy as well as our children. We found that spot with Hideaway. We spent the week on the beach enjoying it all to our selves, the kids played and swam in the water while we relaxed on the beach! The locals were very friendly and recommened spots nearby for dinner on those rare nights that we ventured out--we really did not need to leave as everything we needed was provided. I would recommend Hideaway to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle. Look forward to going back.

A little disappointing

The beaches are fabulous...the sun warm and inviting...the people of the Bahamas very friendly.
This particular house was a little disappointing...although it was roomy...it is quite run down, old, and mouldy. The ad looks ike it was done quite few years ago...and was a little misleading. The other house on the property looked lovely. If we had known, we may have booked the 'better' house instead.
We felt very safe in the Bahamas and found lots of new friends, pubs, and places to eat that were delightful.

Owner's Response: The review acknowledges our FABULOUS beach and yes the Beach cottage was built in the 70’s. Yes it is an authentic Bahamian cottage. Yes it is right on the beach and therefore is well accepted by guests loving the fresh pure and healthy Atlantic breezes. The photos were taken July 2011. The gardener tells me these folk turned evil after their friends left. He avoided them! There is no mold, professionally checked and bug treated monthly to be safe. It was water stain on the base board caused by youngsters putting towels in the sinks with the taps on back in 2011! It all was cleaned and varnished many times. Just cannot get rid of the water mark. Yes the cottage is very close to the beach and the sea air carries a little sand at time so Yes do rinse out the coffee percolator or the utensil’s often All pots and pans are new and designer series. Renter this week are ecstatic, with their 2 year old enjoying the safe surroundings. To wake up to the sound of the sea rippling on the beach. Incredible and then walk the deserted beach to dry off after a swim. For AC lovers. You cannot totally shut this cottage up. The large great room has no ACV and relies on the cooling Atlantic breezes. Both Bedrooms are en suite and separately located at either side of the great room end with private access. The old style AC is not accommodation for whole house AC. For AC lovers we offer the new Hideaway villa. Cost efficient with granite tops and leather sofas and again as the review acknowledges the folk and villages around the cottage are the best. Paradise found and found again

Just looking over our pictures of the Hideaway cottage vacation and can almost feel the warm sun and ocean tickling our toes. What a paradise. We have stayed here twice and are hoping to return again. For privacy, relaxation and great fishing (that's us in the picture!) this place can't be beat. The ocean is literally at your doorstep. We made friends with the owners and the locals and felt like family. I can't recommend this place enough! If you are looking to get away from it all this is your place. Perfect for families!

We wanted RELAXING and WE GOT IT!

My husband and I wanted to get away from it all for our 20th anniversary, and boy did we. Liz showed us around and made us feel at home. The house was literally 25 yds from the beach. We kayaked, laid on rafts and snorkeled out at the "blue holes". (bring your own snorkel stuff though) They were breathtaking. Loved the little lizards running around, harmless. The king size bed was great, no back pain! We had dinner at the "bar in the round" at Bishop's (very local) beach bar. Go to Doris' (down home cooking) next door to Bishop's for the delicious conch fritters! Watch the crab salad, spicy! If you want dinners out you have to drive to Lucaya. About 35 min through nature. Highly recommend Agave restaurant there. GREAT mojito's. We'd go back again! Enjoy!

As described a totally relaxing experience

We loved the drive from Freeport along a qiet but good road. The people were all very friendly. Saw very few on the beach or surrounding area. Perfect getaway. You enter Hideaway Bahamas from the Grand Baham Highway and the young lady there is very obliging and you they provide free internethave free wireless internet. THen drive over the hill, just 2 homes so fay completed and all laid out with Palm trees and beach coves. The hideaway cottage is set in the far right western corner. Very secluded and away from everything. We loved to hear the water as we dozed. slept like babies and fed very well at the local beach bars and takeaways.Thjis Eastern side of Grand Bahama has something that draws one to stay. We are already contemplating our return. The owners are now our friends and we really do recommend this if you like us prefer to be away from the crowd and when we look at the photos of the Great room where we spent many happy hours. The outdoors is just the best. We found the three blue holes and walked the beaches and discovered the many patches of water coming up through the sands from the giant fresh water aquifier.Yes we recommend the property, yes it is accurately described and very adequate for our needs.

We are pretty well booked up till Easter and expect new bookings for April May onwards and then the summmer and the many returning families.
The Beach cottage is quite seperate and secluded on the South West corner of the property and close to the ocean.To the west is a large Sandy beach and you can almost walk the short distance in the water to a large section of blue holes and underground caves. Perfect for snorkellin or for casting a line to fronm the shore. Grand Bahama is on a giant aquifier. we are self sufficient with the finest quality drinking water.
Snapper and grouperand many native fish are in abundance aklso lobster and conch..
We added 2 homes to the Eastern side and one will go into the rental pool. They are spaced out and you can wonder the beaches and not see a sole.
Imagine having the beach to yourself for as far as you can see. Oh yes safe also to walk anywhere and not worry.
We do hope you will stay with us soon.
