My husband and I stayed at the cabin and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The view was beautiful, and the weather was absolutely perfect fall weather.

My husband and I live in Northern Virginia. We were anxious to leave all the traffic and chaos behind. We did nothing but relax. We never even turned on the TV. With the view from the deck, how could you be inside? The only two that enjoyed it more, was our two labs, Lucy and Daisy, who were exhausted each night from all the swimming and fetching they did! Thanks for allowing us to bring our dogs and we will definitely be back!

Cabin on the Lake - Smith Mountain

CHTYPATY Baltimore, Maryland
Review Submitted: April 23, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
We vacationed for a week in this cabin last year and it was a great experience. The view is just breathtaking and the cabin was very cozy and comfortable. We had the opportunity to watch deer, from across the lake, chipmunks, squirrels, all kinds of birds just romping around and feeding etc. We rented a boat from Parrot Cove which was just great for the week and spent all the time we could just fishing and touring the lake area. We did not have much luck with catching fish in the cove but we still enjoyed trying. We were able to catch some cat fish off of the dock and enjoyed them in the morning for breakfast. Outside of the cove fishing was pretty good. The water is very clean and swimming off the dock was great if you do not mind being nibble on........... It is our hope to go back and stay at this cabin again one day and I would recommend this cabin. Anywhere we went, the people were so friendly and made us feel at home. Smith Mountain is our new vacation spot....if you want beauty and relaxation....give it a try. The landlord was very nice and easy to work with as far as answering any questions, pointing out shopping areas etc.....

Absolutely Charming!!!

We have stayed at the cabin a number of times and thought it was a good time to share what we thought! It is a charming place for a romantic getaway or fun to share with another couple. The deck, off the living area, directly overlooks the water. It is one of the most tranquil, serene settings we've experienced. Great restaurants and boat rentals are just a short drive away. We loved it and so did our friends. We'll be back in summer 2008!

My wife and I were just looking for a nice quiet place to get away for the Easter weekend. Cedar Cove is a wonderful place!, the cabin was clean and well stocked, and even though the Direct TV wasn't enabled there is such a wide selection of VHS tapes that when we settled in at night there were plenty of movies to choose from. The lake and mountains are beautiful, I caught a 2 pound largemouth on my 5th cast from the dock - next time we'll have to bring the canoe or boat - there are so many places on the lake to explore! We will definitely be back again for more of what Smith Mountain Lake has so much to give!
Alicia was very helpful and accommodating and we've already recommended the cabin to friends and family.

We enjoyed one of our best vacations ever during our stay at The Cabin. We couldn't get over how quiet and peaceful Cedar Key was. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast every morning out on the deck with it's breathtaking view and also afternoon cocktail hours after a day out on the lake. The cabin is very cute inside. One thing to note, be sure to bring some our your own cooking supplies if you plan on doing any cooking other than grilling because the kitchen is not very well equipped. The cabin is perfect for a couple or a small family.

We had a wonderful family vacation at the cabin. The lake water is clear and clean and the children were happy to spend most of their time swimming from the deck or inner tubing. the fishing was fantastic and on Jul 4 there was a forework display over the lake.

We liked the fact that Smith Mountain is not touristy or crowded.

On the rainy days we enjoyed the Cabin's outstanding video collection.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Cabin for a weekend and it was a great break from the hustle and bustle of life in the DC Metro area. Even though the weather didn't cooperate as much as we would have liked, the views from the cabin were excellent and the amenities in the cabin really made the weekend great.
