I just wanted to say thank you – we had a great time at your cottage. My wife and I took the girls rafting on the upper Delaware, horseback riding and swimming in Lake Superior. We also enjoyed making toast in the morning on the fire pit and bbq’ing

Hi Michael,

We had a wonderful weekend in your cabin! It was exactly what we were looking for - we were happy, comfortable, and surrounded by more beauty than we knew what to do with.

My friends and I had a wonderful time at this cabin! We were looking for a cozy cabin that fit a large group and we were not disappointed. But the real pleasure was discovering the beautiful sprawling property behind the cabin. Don't miss the chance to walk down to the pond, discover the whimsical fire pit, and take in the beautiful surroundings. Every few steps takes you through a dizzying range of vegetation and beautiful landscape along well maintained paths. Highly recommended!

I stayed at your Hurleyville cottage from August 10th through August 13th. My family and I truly had a very delightful time. You have a very nice place and I hope that it will be available in the future. I for one, truly felt at peace there and would like to return some time.

Wonderful property

The house was fantastic. The swimming pond was refreshing and clean. Our family had a great time relaxing and getting away from it all. The owner was very nice and responsive to our questions.

We stayed for a second time at this lovely property this year and had another wonderful vacation. Our children think its magical. The freedom city kids get on this secluded property is great. We love the pond but it is far enough from the house not to have to worry about the kids at every moment. Lots of hiking and exploring in nature. The house is cozy and comfortable, but we were outside most of the time. The owners are very nice and relaxed people. We will definitely return maybe even in the fall; the property is amazing!

Small but efficient

The Cabin (cabin, not house) was definitely not huge, but it had everything you need for a nice weekend away. It's a place perfect for someone who wants to go camping/hiking but needs a full kitchen and running water. Two rooms on the main floor provide the four real sleeping spots (read: for adults). Along with a small, but pleasant, kitchen. The Fridge was a little small to hold all the food to feed the 8 us, but we made it work.

There isn't really anywhere indoors that 8 people can congregate, this place really seems more proper for 4 to 5. That being said, the upstairs double bed (a very thin mattress on play wood - not comfortable) and two fold out futon pads provide sleeping for 4 more with good backs. Fortunately we brought a number of air mattresses so everyone was OK. Really, there is enough room upstairs to sleep 6 or even 8 if you bring the floor pads. And with a group like ours - always outside swimming or hiking, the space wasn't an issue. However, you won't be sitting down with 8 people to dinner together. The grill was charcoal, not gas - so bring charcoal.

The Owner's cabin is very nearby (70 yards maybe), so you don't have any real privacy, but it is convenient if you have questions or need anything. The Swimming area (about a quarter mile walk) is a small private pond and is lovely, although quite cool, and the fire area, perhaps an 1/8 of mile away, (once we found it on day two) was great for a summer evening making s'mores.

One real restaurant (nice Italian-American stuff) and one bar, plus a gas station in town. Wal-mart about 10-15 mins away, right off the rt 17. That's about it - this is a small town.

One last tip: follow the owner's directions - NOT your gps - unless you have an suv or other such vehicle, google maps and gps take you over a dirt path and it's far more difficult then the simple on-road option. I recommend checking out his directions and then using a map to figure out exactly what he means (his directions use markers rather than street names, so it can be difficult to figure out while you're driving)
Owner's Response: This seems like an objective description of the property. Thanks!

We will definitely replace the second floor mattress to more comfortable one.

And in regards to the swimming pond: it is 3 acres in size and 14' deep and has a sand pawed swimming area. So, we would not necessary use the word "small" to describe it. And, since it was already September month, yes, the water was cool, but it is very worm and pleasant during the summer time. It takes less then 4 minutes walk to get there from the house.
And, you still would not need an AC in the house in the summer month: it is nice and cool here.
The local climate in Catskills is simply the best!

Also there are many more nice restaurants close by.
So, if you willing to spent 15 minutes to have a nice country drive to The White Lake, you will be rewarded with great dinner on the open deck above the lake.

Thank you for renting our group your lovely house in Hurleyville. The rooms were comfortable, and we enjoyed grilling on the lawn, roaming the hillside fields, and swimming in the pond. You truly have an off-the-grid paradise hidden there!
If we ever return to the Bethel Woods area, we'd love to rent your cottage again.

Best,

Craig K.
