Framura, 3 towns north of Cinqueterre, is a rural Ligurian town consisting of 5 traditional hamlets ( sub-divisions) divided between mountain and sea with views that it will take your breath away. Costa, a sub division of Framura has archaeological, historical and artistic points of view.
My house is on the piazza of the hamlet (or sub-division) of Costa which is set on top of a hill.
The house is my personal vacation house so I hope my renters will be respectful of my property.
If you enjoy interacting w/ the locals buying groceries or chatting at the local trattoria or if you are a creative person looking for inspiration, or want a quiet non-touristy place to stay, this is the place for you.
BASIC SPEAKING COMMAND OF ITALIAN IS REQUIRED as my cousin who takes care of house for me and will meet you at your arrival does not speak any other language expect Italian( I personally am in NYC )
Local bar/ Restaurants: A short walking distance up the road from the piazza of Costa is a neighborhood bar “Silvia” that serves alcohol, soft drinks, coffee and gelato and sells tobacco products and tickets for the ATC bus; it's open until midnight. This is a popular evening spot w/ Framura locals and vacationers; Silvia’s son Davide who runs the bar at night, speaks a little English and is a punk / R&R fan. Davide also now offers wireless connection if you have a computer.
Downstairs attached to the bar is Ristorante Silvia that is known for its seafood; I personally recommend the seafood appetizer
There is another restaurant Ristorante Meri next door that is known for its fresh homemade pasta dishes and elegant service; I recommend their gnocchi w/ pesto and their pansotti w/ walnut sauce.
Note that due to popularity of these restaurants, reservations esp in busy season may be required a day in advance.
Parking & Shopping: Parking on the piazza of Costa is restricted to residents; non-residents can park in the public parking space which is located up an incline near Ristorante Silvia.
Two times a week in the morning at 9pm...Tuesday & Friday , there is a truck selling fresh seafood that stops in the piazza of Costa. On Friday around 10-11pm there is a truck that stops on the piazza w fresh vegetables and fruit
There are two grocery stores in Setta that sell bread, oil, eggs, dairy, meat, vegetables, fruit, wine and basics like laundry soap.
Gastronomia Enrica has prepared foods like stuffed mussels, seafood salad, vegetable torts, top quality cheeses, local products like pesto, salami, vegetables, fruit and focaccia; in the warm weather, there is a garden spot w/ tables and chairs for eating.
Alimentari Maria Rosa Bennati has similar products; no prepared foods but a larger selection of cheeses, cold meats, and has products such as goat’s milk and whole grain bread.
Misc : At the local bar located near the food stores in Setta, one can get international newspapers including the International Herald Tribune (which is published by the European offices of the NY Times), postcards, pens, writing materials, Italian magazines and books.
The post office, the pharmacy and an ATM are located in Setta.
There are other very small stores in Setta for clothing, basic sporting goods and hardware.
