Our three families truly enjoyed this home across the street from the beach. As a party of 11 with 5 teenagers, 2 seniors and three adults we found the home spacious, clean and well maintained. The shed was filled with every imaginable item that you might need for a day at the beach. We rented two surfboards from kitty hawk kites for the week. The surf was perfect for this sport, as well as boogie boarding and skim boarding. We found lots to do locally; hang gliding at jockey ridge state park, double tandem hang gliding from a local airport, a jet skiing tour where we saw dolphins, a visit to the Wright Brothers museum, and a drive to Ocracoke, seeing the Bodie lighthouse and the Cape Hatteras lighthouse along the way. We also visited Roanoke Island and took in a performance of The Lost Colony...an amazing show! While at the home, the many decks are perfect for sitting and enjoying that morning cup of coffee, reading, watching the surf or sunbathing. We truly loved the hammocks and swings from Nags Head Hammocks. There are plenty of nearby restaurants to chose from, or if you prefer to stay home, the home is equipped with a grill and the kitchen is stocked. We especially loved the waffle maker. Some restaurants we chose to eat at were Awful Arthurs, The Brewery, and Stripers and The Full Moon in Roanoke. In Ocracoke we ate at Howards Pub. All were excellent! The owners are very accomadating with excellent communication before, during and near the end of your trip. A thoughtful gift bag awaits your arrival. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation with or without sightseeing.

I would highly recommend anyone to stay at the Shooting Star. We all had a great time. The view was outstanding, the supplies were more than expected. Everyone had their own bathrooms and bedrooms! The shed was stocked with tons of beach toys and we even left a few we bought.

It was extremely clean, great location and the service was EXCELLENT! We plan to return in 2011 if a hurricane doesn't put the house on a relocation plan before then!

We saw large schools of fish, boats, dolphins, beautiful sunrises and sunsets! My children cried when we left! It was an experiece to remember!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Shooting Star! Not only was the weather perfect, but the cottage and location were beautiful and far surpassed our expectations. We arrived the day before Easter and the weather couldnt have been more perfect! The ocean views were stunning! The home is well-equipped with everything you need for a fun, relaxing and care-free vacation.....We enjoyed the hot tub while viewing the ocean, the spacious decks and spiral staircase to a sun deck, the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with all the extras, the spacious & beautiful bedrooms and the plasma TV was a hit too! The cottage was immaculate and the owner's attention to detail was evident throughout the home, from the decor to the kitchen equipment to the beach supplies provided. We would definitely recommend Shooting Star to everyone and already submitted our deposit for next year!

We stayed at the Shooting Star a few years back, and found it to be everything we expected and more. The owner's thoughtfully included everything you need for a great week at the beach. Hope to return for another week at the Shooting Star again soon.

This was our 1st time renting a beach house and we were a bit concerned about what we would get, but we have to say that we were extremely pleased with the Shooting Star. It was very clean and spacious, as well as tastefully decorated and comfortable with great views and in a great location. There were 9 of us (5 teenagers)and all of us said that we would definitely rent this house again. We only had 1 minor problem while we were there and Terry was there very promptly to take care of it with a smile. Again, we would DEFINITELY rent this house again.

We spent our 10th annual family vacation at Shooting Star in 2005 and enjoyed an almost perfect week. The house is very comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with everything from spices to a Belgian waffle iron (a favorite with the grandkids!) and the beach ammenities extremely family-friendly, not to mention that the beach is mere footsteps away.
The ocean views are fantastic from almost every window.
Our family had two trips to the OBX hospital and I must say that for those who may worry about medical care on the Outer Banks - don't! We had an adult mishap that required 11 stitches and a five-year old's ear infection. Both occured after 9 pm and we received wonderful care from the OBX ER in Nag's Head - a quick 10 mile drive. The CVS pharmacy on Hwy. 158 between Nag's Head and Kitty Hawk was great.
Most certainly will consider returning to Shooting Star - although our family's tradition is to try a different beach each year! This is one house we would enjoy revisiting!

We just got back from out 5th year at Shooting Star and we're reserved for next year, our 6th! The house, the beach, and the weather were perfect. We keep coming back due to the great location and the chance to get away. It is a vacation enjoyed by Grandparents down to toddlers, a once a year trip. The kids love the beach, boogie boarding, the hot tub, and family. All we bring is food, linen and our swimsuits. Highly recommended for your summer vacation, don't stay anywhere else!
