The best place to stay in New York City is West Village, Grenwich Village, but chain hotels are non existent. Renting an appartment is the best alternative. You will struggle to find a better apartment and location than this one. It is a short walk to the heart of Grenwich Village (Washington Square Park) and bleecker Street and if you like nightlife and great restaurants, the village as it all. It is also a short walk up to the Meat Packing District (Little West 12th St) which is a trendy hotspot with great bars and restaurants and it also has a fabulous park area called the High Line which used to be an old elevated railway line that runs right up to 34th St. It is also close to the Hudson River where there are fabulous parks and piers and you can walk down the Hudson River park right down to Battery Park with fabulous views. The Subway is also close so you can easily get around Manhattan and the outer boroughs. This apartment sits on a famous, quiet leafy street and offers great respite from the hustle and bustle of other areas in New York. Absoiutely great apartment in a fantastic location, the best in New York City. We will be back.

I'd recommend this rental to anyone visiting NYC.

A nice little apartment, very clean and decorated in a rustic style with everything you might want (kitchenette, tv, cable (no wi-fi, but you might be able to pick up a neighbours), however it won't really be comfortable for any more than two people, three would be stretching it.

There's a single bed in the only bedroom with an ensuite (the only bathroom in the apartment), and a large double sofabed in the lounge.

The apartment is located on the 4th floor of a building on a very leafy street in the West Village. Extremely pretty neighbourhood, I'd say that staying at this location improved my impressions of New York a hundred-fold. :)

There are tons of nearby pubs/bars (The White Horse...) and restaurants (The Spotted Pig, Little Owl...)

The apartment is close to banks, little corner shops, and a largish gourmet supermarket. Plenty of little cafes abound, some actually serve decent coffee (try Jacks Stir Coffee, Joe the Art of Coffee, The Grey Dog...). Magnolia Bakery is around the corner for those interested in cupcakey goodness (they're a bit too rich for my tastes).

The rest of Manhattan is close by. Just a walk down the road to the Financial district, East Village a quick stroll across the way. Chelsea and Meatpacking district a short way northwards if that's your scene. Anything further is probably better to take the subway. Stations close by are Christopher Street (lines 1,2,3,) and W 4th Street (C,E, A & F,V).

I'd often take a run down to the tip of Manhattan (to see the sun rise over Brooklyn), along Hudson River Park and Battery Park (6 miles there and back in case you're interested).

So in summary, absolutely brilliant location, lovely little apartment, owner was a pleasure to deal with.

We spent a whole week in Manhattan, and Lizzie's flat was just fantastic ! Nice, cosy, well located (next to thesuway stations and nice restaurants), it felt just like home.
If we'd went back to NYC, we would love to stay there again !!
