We really enjoyed the house, it was great. The deck and deck furniture were perfect. There were plenty of beds for everyone, the kitchen had everything we needed, several TVs, so when it did rain all of the grandkids could watch what they liked. The house was clean, well stocked, and well marked as to what could be used and what was reserved for the owners. The only down side was that the upstairs was really hot with little air movement, we used the provided fans a lot.
The sandy beach was wonderful, perfect for smaller kids. We used all of the provided water toys, the paddle boat and canoe were the biggest hits. The fire pit was great, just the right size for making smors.The yard was large enough for us to use all of the yard games we brought.

We stayed at the Mona Lake home in August 2011, and this was one of our most memorable family vacations yet. We have five children (and one dog), and there was plenty for everyone to do. The home is equipped with everything you need (boats, toys, towels, games, you name it). We spent most of our days at the house, because it was so much fun and we didn't want to leave. Waking up to the beautiful view of the lake every morning was wonderful. The owners were very professional and courteous, and called us to follow-up with our questions. We can't wait to come back next summer!

We had a perfect getaway over the Canadian long weekend in May (May 20-23, 2011)! We must have said "I don't want to leave" about a million times! From my initial contact with the owner, I felt very comfortable with the rental process and he made everything feel very personal - it was like renting from friends. Although the pictures make the cottage look wonderful, they don't even do it justice! Everything is so well kept and up to date and the amenities made us feel right at home. The view and relaxing atmosphere make this property worth renting. It has the right balance of pretty much anything you'd want to do either right on the property or within the Muskegon area. The owner made himself available to us through a phone call to ensure we were settled in and we felt as though we could contact him if we needed to. The neighbours were also very friendly and helpful - they volunteered lots of helpful information about the area! Being able to bring our dog was a huge part of why we chose this property and he had a blast! He loved the water and running around the yard. Although the water was still a bit cold while we were there, we were able to get in a little bit. It's a nice sandy bottom and very shallow which would be great for kids. We felt like our 3 night stay was just a tease and we need to come back for more! We plan to be frequent guests at this rental home! We can't say thank you enough for the much needed getaway!

We had guests in for a wedding and they stayed a week at this beautiful lake house on Mona Lake. They had a wonderful time and commented to us over and over how relaxing and nice the home was. They also commented how waking up with the lake only a few steps to the decks and a little private beach was awesome. They just loved the huge wrap around deck with the two levels. We went over a couple times to visit with our guests and it was so nice inside and out. The inside was all open and airy feeling with large glass windows and sliders overlooking the lake. The decision for us to have our guests stay there was the best choice we could have made and my wife and I will be looking to stay there ourselves for a future getaway.

This well-maintained house is roomy with plenty of indoor and outdoor living space. We ended up bringing our small dog at the last minute and the owners were very accommodating. We found the property to be conveniently located near the expressway for our local trips to Holland, Grand Haven and Grand Rapids. We were looking for a quiet property where we could relax and this property fit that description perfectly. The view of the lake is amazing.

We had an absolute wonderful time, your home is terrific and we couldn’t have thanked you enough for all the amenities. We had our entire family over for Sunday barbeque on your beautiful deck to celebrate our grandmother’s 85th birthday! What a wonderful way to spend time with family and it was a gorgeous setting with Mona Lake as the back drop!

We would love to rent again from you and make this an annual trip. Your home was very clean and well maintained and we appreciate the owners allowing us to bring our “entire” family with your pet friendly policies. Among the favorite past times this week included the use of the paddle boat and canoe, fishing off the end of the dock, playing in the sand, evening dinners on the gorgeous deck and night time stories around the fire pit.

The neighbors are also sweet and inviting. The owners were very quick to respond to my early questions, made sure we were able to access the property the day of the rental and followed up on our trip.

Home was as advertised. Well suited for a multiple family getaway. Kitchen was well stocked with all ammenities, Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Outside deck was big enough to eat all meals outside. The yard, boat dock and beach were perfect for the kids to enjoy the lake. The canoe, kayak, and small fishing boat were in good shape and easy to use. The owners were great and easy to work with.

We spent a quiet five days by the lake in this tastefully decorated home. The amenities and decor are similar to a four star hotel. The second floor BR faces the lake, as does the living, dining room, and deck. Very pleasant, soothing view of placid water and wildlife. Those are real bald eagles swooping down to catch fish.

The neighborhood is quiet as well, except for the traffic noise from HWY 31 a few blocks away. But by nine p.m. this disappears -- apparently they roll up the sidewalks in Muskegon at night.

There is a tiny beach which we used as a sand trap for sprited games of croquet and for golf practice. But there is a much larger public beach across the lake which we canoed over to. The hiking trails at a nearby state park are very nice and there are multiple places to play golf.

We only used one BR, but the bed was very comfortable and firm. There were ample supplies of towels for the two of us, but if you bring a small group you may need more.

The owners were very pro-active, calling to make sure that everything was going well and answering questions/making suggestions about the area. They were nice enough to let us bring our cats, who had a very good time as well.

Mona Lake would be perfect for sailing and/or water skiing if you brought your own boat. There is a boat launch area about a block away from the house.
