Great views and relaxation
My husband and I stayed here 5 days for our honeymoon and loved it. As a young couple with no kids, I'd say the best part of Gatlinburg is staying in your cabin in the mountains. This cabin has 3 porches, all with different views. I wish we would've spent more of our time on the very bottom porch to watch the trees sway. From 2 of the porches, you can see even more of the Smokey Mountains. It rained a little each day, which was really pretty.
If you do want to go into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, you can drive about a mile down the mountain and catch the trolley. It's between $0.50-$2, depending on where you are going. You can even take it into the park. We used the trolley every day.
We saw black bears on 2 occasions (one while on the porch and one while driving). If you are like me, this is very exciting! They didn't bother us at all (except for pooping on the porch the last morning) and were very cool to see.
Everything you need (except food and toiletries) is at the cabin - dishes, silverware, paper towels, toilet paper, towels, sheets, blankets, etc. We had more than enough for the 2 of us. With the size of the cabin, a couple could easily sleep upstairs in the bed and another in the basement and have a blast. There weren't really any negatives (I even thought the bear poop was cool). If you've never driven up mountains before (like me), it is definitely a little scary. We took a honda civic (front wheel drive) and were fine in 3rd gear going up and 2nd gear going down. The driveway for this cabin is a little scary the first time you park. From the driver's side, it looks like you are going to go off the mountain - but you are not. There is a sauna in the basement. We couldn't use it because we couldn't figure it out - which was user error.
The owners were great. My brand new husband left his brand new wedding ring in the bathroom. He emailed them and it's in the mail to us now.
If I went back: I would take advantage of the pool right up the hill and I would only go into town once. Our best day was spent drinking rum and reading books on the porch.
Owner's Response: Thank you! I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Moose Tracks. You just reminded me of the reason we bought this cabin to start with. We work so hard and so seldome get to enjoy the peace and serenity of Moose Tracks. That sauna is a little tricky sometimes, however there is a reset button on the bottom of the unit. Just push in the button and it's good to go! Hope you visit us again soon!! Rebecca
