Photos and Description of the Ketchikan vacation house rental
2 Bedrooms + Convertible sofa-bed - 1 Bath - (Sleeps 4-6)

This beautiful property is built on pilings on the shore of the Tongass Narrows overlooking the Channel islands to the northwest. It's the perfect home base for your getaway, whether it be romance or adventure you're after.

There's a magical feeling when you're at Coho Beach House -- one guest referred to it as 'The Healing House.'

Seeing marine life swim right under the deck; enjoying the weather and views (rain or shine) from any room; watching the bird activity, the passing boats and sea planes all lend to the pleasures of this home away from home.

This spot is known for having the best sunset views around, and if the water is calm, there are kayaks available for paddling around Ward Cove and the nearby Channel Islands. Or if it's stormy, just cuddle up, listen to the waves, and watch from the warmth of the house.

This is the perfect place to relax, have a little romance, or if you are looking for outdoor activities like fishing or hiking, the beach house is just a short drive from anywhere on the island.

- Downtown Ketchikan with all of it's related tourist attractions is just a 10 minute drive.

- The stairs to our private beach offers tide pool exploring, beach combing, and is an easy kayak entry for a sunset paddle.

About The Odells and the Hooks

Friends for 40 years, partners in Coho Beach House since 2004. The Odells and the Hooks dreamed of living near the water for years, and when they became owners of this property it was a dream come true. Both couples live on 'The Point' by the beach house, and are available if needed, but also respect the privacy of guests.

The Odells and the Hooks purchased this house in 2004
Why The Odells and the Hooks chose Ketchikan

The particular location of the beach house is known in the community as having the best sunsets in the area.

The beach house was built in the late '40's or early '50's and had been well used and loved by many, but it was in dire need of repair.

We considered demolishing it, but instead rebuilt it from the pilings to the roof. The interior layout remains the same, but it's much more comfortable now. It was truly a labor of love, and we love to share its charm with our guests.

What makes this house unique

Outstanding wildlife viewing at your door. Watch the tide come and go; seals, sea lions, and the occasional whales swim by; and eagles in flight from the windows and deck at Coho Beach House.

The stairs to the beach offer easy access for tide pool exploring, and there are two kayaks available for paddling around Ward Cove and the nearby Channel Islands.

What a wonderful cabin! We really enjoyed our vacation there. We got a chance to see and film a couple of killer whales coming through and the bald eagles woke us up on more than one occasion in the mornings. Couldn't have asked for a finer wake up call!!
This was our first visit to Alaska and we hope to return. Thanks for letting us stay in your sweet cabin!

Our group of 7, including 4 adults and 3 children, really enjoyed the COHO Beach House. The owners were so accommodating and it was apparent upon our arrival that the Beach House was clean and well maintained. They lined up a pack n play and even brought movies and books for the kids. We enjoyed walking the beach, looking for sea shells, and watching the cruise ships, planes and float planes. The views from this house are absolutely beautiful and even the rain didn't hamper our enthusiasm for everything we could see from the expansive windows. The proximity to town was also a plus. We would be happy to return to this great place.

Four friends spent five nights in this very comfortable cottage that was just as described. We could not have been happier with what we found: clean, nicely decorated, spacious, and a wonderful deck for beautiful sunsets and cocktail hour, not to mention fishing! Watched cruise ships and other boats on a daily basis as they passed by. Seaplanes fascinated us as well. Owners were gracious and helpful. Our last night there, they gifted us with fresh, warm, smoked salmon for our appetizers! We also appreciated the binder in the living room with lots of local information. This property is located about 10 minutes from the main part of Ketchikan and our "Alaska Car Rental" took us on our daily outings! Thanks so much...we would stay there again in a nonosecond!!!

Beautiful house and location. Place was clean, quiet and secluded with spectacular views (the pictures they have are indicative of what you see). The owners were very helpful...gave us tips of things to do and see (especially where to see some wildlife while out paddling nearby). All in all one of the best vacation experiences I have had. Would definitely come here again.

From the time we drove up to the property to the time we left we were blown away by the views, the sunsets, and the cleanliness of the Coho Beach House. It was very easy to find in the daylight - very close to the airport. The minute we drove up, Joe came out to great us and an eagle flew right over our heads. The next day, a large eagle was sitting in our tree. We saw eagles every day; even saw an otter and a seal swim up as we sat on the balcony. Every night we had a breath-taking sunset - even the day it rained. Our expectations of the house were definitely exceeded. The house looked brand-new - not even a spider web or a speck of dust. My husband works for the Four Seasons, so he's especially picky. He wants to come back every year! This house is perfect for a couple or a family. The two bedrooms upstairs are close and there's just one large bathroom downstairs. Even though it's near the main drag, it's very private. We enjoyed driving around Ketchikan - then coming back to the house at 4 or 5 and sitting there until the sun set - about 8:45 every night. Can't wait to go back!

We wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at the COHO house. The house was a perfect place to spend the day watching the tug boats, float planes, cruise ships , whales and eagles, who thoroughly entertained us. We loved all the hiking trails and Jim enjoyed the fishing. Wasn't lucky enough to get salmon but we did ship home some halibut. We loved every minute we were there and sure hope to maybe return next year???

My husband and I stayed at the Coho Beach House June 4th - 8th, 2011. It's a beautiful house - the photos are very accurate - the views from the lower level as well as the upstairs master bedroom are spectacular! We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable with a grill, fully stocked kitchen, deck furniture, etc. and everything was in immaculate condition. It was fun to watch for sea lions and whales in the water as well as eagles on shore. We were wanting a secluded spot to spend a few days and this worked perfectly - even though the owners are right on site, they weren't intrusive but we knew they were there if we needed anything.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend the property to family and friends!
