Stayed at this place for a week this summer after a wedding at the Castle. Short drive to the castle. Far enough away from everything but close enough too. House (or should I say "mansion"?) is clean, well maintained, stocked with necessities and includes a sweet view.

My wife and I were referred to this home by a friend that had stayed at the place last year (2010). We heard of a very accommodating, eclectic property owner, a very unique home with old world charm and all the modern conveniences necessary and of course the views. I'm quite comfortable in saying that ALL of the above are true and more.

You won't be disappointed.

My colleagues and I stayed at this property during a medical conference in a neighboring town (Traverse City). 5 couples, 10 total in our party. My best advice is for anyone deciding whether to stay at this property or not is to read all of the previous reviews. They are all very accurate. An incredible house with an incredible view and an outstanding, very personable, unique owner.

A winning combination. Don't pass on this experience.

We spent a wonderful week at this house in August of 2009. There was nothing more that we could have asked for! The views were spectacular. Plenty of space in and around the house for privacy, dining, sunning, etc. We all love to cook, and the kitchen provided everything we needed. Though the house is not on the water, it is a very short (3 minute) drive to a lovely, secluded beach. Charlevoix, Traverse City and Petoskey are all less than an hour's drive away. The house is also near a nature preserve.

We would (and will!) rent this property again.

First off, all of us would like to thank Stan (property owner) for his attentiveness to detail and genuine concern for our enjoyment during our stay. He is a class act that took an otherwise outstanding experience to the next level and beyond.

We stayed at this home in September for 4 nights. Our daughter was being married at Castle Farms in Charlevoix. The location of this home in relation to Castle Farms was perfect.The leisurely 10 minute drive through beautiful countryside was peaceful and serene, which is exactly what we needed after several busy days. The drive provided just enough "wind down" time in both directions. Also, the proximity to several secluded Lake Michigan beaches was a huge plus. A few minute drive puts your feet in the water!

This home is an executive quality retreat, relatively secluded on a private road. We saw an abundance of wildlife within viewing distance of the large, wrap around deck. Stan met us at the home to provide a tour and answer a few questions we had which was nice. We've stayed at vacation homes where we've never had contact with the owner and therefore need to figure some things out on our own, which is far from ideal. The home is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Paper products were supplied, as were linens, towels, garbage bags, cleaning supplies, etc. The kitchen is large and completely equipped for virtually any cooking need. 2 full size refigerators and dishwashers in the first floor kitchen (one each in the main kitchen and butlers pantry) are a nice touch. The views from every window are out of this world. Stand on the deck or up in the large 3rd floor looking out over Lake Michigan and you will get goose bumps. Absolutely incredible and I need to add that the pictures on this site do not do the home or view any justice at all.

If it sounds like I am going overboard with my review, I am! We have traveled to many areas of the world and have not always had positive rental experiences so when we discover a gem such as this home/location I make certain to spread the word. If you chose to stay at this home you will not be disappointed.

Our family rented this home on a very last minute, mini vacation. Beautiful view and home. (By the way, the pictures on this site do NOT do either the view or the home justice.) Lots of extra amenities. Saw deer at dusk and an eagle the following morning. The stillness and beauty of watching the sun dip into lake michigan from the deck was great. Will definitely stay there again.
