We enjoyed staying in condo #7123 at Xaman Ha. It was an absolutely IDEAL location! The beach was big, nice sand, easy slope out to the ocean. (watch out for topless beach-goers tho) It's just a few blocks from 5th ave with more shopping and restaurants than we could possibly get to in one week. Also super close to the ferry, in case you want to go to Cozumel. Not close enough to hear any noise from the ferry. Since we were picked up by the dive and tour companies, we never even rented a car. Always felt safe in the area, even with small kids.
Xaman Ha was nice, the grounds were gorgeous, the pools were smaller but kept clean and beautiful. There was a grill area that we used to grill steaks for dinner one night. There are lounge chairs on a cement deck under shade -- nice for reading a book and watching the kids play on the beach. Warning: there are lots of stairs to get to your condo, even going to the 2nd floor. Up several, down several, up some more, down some more, just to get to the 2nd floor. There is a phone you can use in the lobby during business hours for free calls . . . locally or internationally. Nice since there's not a phone in #7123. We always had wi-fi altho it's not technically included at the condo.
The condo itself was a great arrangement for us. Very large master bedroom with king bed and bathroom with 2 sinks, tub/shower, toilet. Large room with 1 king and 1 queen or full, not sure. Another room with a full bed with a trundle bed under. Small bathroom in hall with one sink, tub/shower, toilet. Small kitchen, dining area, living room, balcony. So nice to have a washer and dryer in the condo! Even if only to dry wet towels each day. Maid service came every other day and a purified water tank was provided as needed. Small safe on the wall in the master bedroom. There are tiny ants so keep all food in fridge, even dry stuff.
Any minor issues we had were quickly addressed and resolved. Steve was quick to answer any questions or provide info and recommendations for us. Very nice to work with.
Restaurant recommendations: Xulam!!!!! Only a couple of blocks away, VERY good Mayan food, great service, beautiful decor. We ate there twice!!! (we never do that). El Nativo (take a cab), la Parilla, HC Carne or HC Monterey were also good. Slow service at Karen's with mediocre food. Nasty army-cafeteria-type food at la petit Paris.
Dive shop recommendation: DiveXplor. Zip-lining: Selvatica (do the Corona tour!)
