Enjoy the best of the Mayan Riviera and the Yucatan Peninsula, and come home to the comfort and charm of Casa Co'lel Luna (Lady Moon House). This spacious 5 bedroom/5 bath home is located in the secure, gated community of Playacar -- less than two blocks from the clean white sands and warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. It's just a hop, skip and a cha-cha-cha to the friendly town of Playa del Carmen and the ferry to Cozumel (a 30-min. ride).
You can relax in your hammock and enjoy the cooling breeze and stunning views of ocean, sky, trees, and your next-door neighbor -- the ancient Mayan ruin of Xaman Ha. Green lawns, bright flowers, waterfalls, and shady trees surround our Casa. Our delightful natural pool will refresh your body and renew your spirit.
The home offers many amenities, including HDTV (satellite), DVD, stereo, all kitchen equipment and appliances (including microwave), and washer & dryer. Wheelchair access on ground floor. All rooms have terraces and are cooled by ocean breezes and ceiling fans. Three bedrooms are air-conditioned. Maid service is provided three days a week (or more upon request).
Our new private swimming pool is designed as a miniature 'cenote' (a natural freshwater pool) -- complete with waterfalls and other fun features. Around the pool are gardens, terraces and our fanciful gazebo, aka 'the hobbit house.' There is also a large built-in grill with counter area and sink as well as seating for up to 20 persons, all overlooking our neighboring Mayan ruins.
You will find that Casa Colel Luna is very reasonably priced for all that it offers. It's the perfect place for families or groups of friends to gather in comfort, surrounded by the lush beauty of tropical Mexico.
For larger groups (more than 10 or 12 people), consider renting an additional home or condo nearby. Just ask and we will put you in touch with the owners.
Large groups and special events: Contact us regarding accommodations for larger groups, reunions, weddings and other special events.
We are supposed to be retired but find ourselves busier than ever. We've been sharing our Playa del Carmen properties with satisfied guests since we built Casa Colel Luna in 1996. Since then we've acquired a small coffee farm in Kona, Hawaii, so we are kept busy working on the farm, relaxing and exploring in the Yucatan, and being with family in Santa Cruz, California.
We bought the property in 1993 and built the home in 1996 when Playa del Carmen was a still a sleepy town off the tourist path. The location next to a Mayan ruin with a view of the sparkling Caribbean was just magical and irresistable--and it still is.
We love our beautiful beach--just a 1-minute walk away--with its fine white sand and warm, clear water. Playa is such a fun town, very laid back, but also sophisticated--with fabulous restaurants and great shoping and entertainment. We love exploring hidden beaches, cenotes, Mayan ruins, and remote villages. The diving and snorkeling spots are some of the best in the world and easily accessible. Staying home and relaxing in a hammock or floating in the beautiful private pool with a cool Corona or margarita is pretty good too.
