I love Islander Inn, this unit, however is very poor
I have stayed at the Islander Inn about 15 times, both when we lived on the Big Island, and when we would come for visits. In all, we have stayed in about 7 different units. This one, by far, was the worst!
I know about the concept of the condo, and love it. I was not prepared for this.
When we arrived, the few dishes that were there were still wet, however, the shelves they were sitting on hadn't been wiped down in ???
There was 1 roll of toilet paper for entire 6 day, 5 night stay.
There were broken, cracked and chipped tiles throughout the unit. The cabinetry in the kitchen was in desperate need of paint, and one door was hanging off a hinge.
There were no trash bags, other than the one in the can.
The sliver of soap in the bathroom was the only soap provided. No handsoap in the kitchen to even wash you hands. And yup, no paper towels or Kleenex either. Just a hand towel and a washcloth.
My favorite was the broken door in the mini fridge, so that couldn't be used. And don't think about ice. There wasn't any, or even an ice cube tray to make some.
The shower curtain had mildew all along the bottom of it.
I don't know when the pictures were taken, but the supple of dishes/kitchen ware/etc.....was horrible. I'm not kidding. There were 4 large plates, 2 small plates, one bowl, 4 small "rocks" glasses, 3 wine glasses, 1 champagne flute, 2 coffee mugs. Silverware consisted of 4 forks, 2 spoons and 2 knives. Considering I was planning on making use of the grill quite extensively.......that was impossible. The only "knife" in the place wouldn't cut, and there wasn't a cutting board. Nothing else in the way of dishes. There was a grill spatula, tongs, and grill fork.
I ended up having to buy salt and pepper, oil, paper plates to transport my food. And a knife that I took with me.
Lastly there was no laundry basket, or broom and dustpan. So all the sand we tracked in from the beach just had to sit there. I had no way of sweeping it up.
PS: the DVD player on the TV doesn't work either.
And the Wi-Fi.........you have to go to the lobby to get a signal.
The hot tub was also broken, and had been for about 2 months. They did get the replacement in and I got to enjoy it my last two days!
I do love the location, and being able to see the water, beach, and even the Kam day parade from our lanai was great.
I love a good deal, but considering the $85 I had to spend on "essentials", I would pass on this unit unless you want bare bones.
