Great Golf Destination

Illinois Golfers Springfield, Illinois
Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Jim was great to deal with and the accomodations were actually better than expected. There were nine well traveled golfers meeting from Illinois and California and everyone was impressed. The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed and more. The beds were confortable and the master bedroom king was fantastic. The best I have ever slept away from home. Golf was never more than a half hour away. The hot tub was a welcomed respite following mountain golf each day. The Game room was the center of activity most evenings. Great neighborhood close to restaurants, entertainment, shopping...etc. The weather couldn't have been much better. Our favorite restaurants were Sadie's and the Range Cafe. We'll be back if Jim will have us.

Jim was very helpful in making our arrangements.

The house was just as expected, large and comfy. We had the entire group watching the Broncos on TV Sunday afternoon, after golf. We all fit fine in the living room.

Dining room table is very large and roomy. The counter between the table and kitchen is very convenient.

The patio was used quite a bit by us cigar smnokers.

The pool table had players on it all the time we were there.

The internet access was used almost constantly from the 8 guys we had, keeping in touch with whomever.

The master bedroom is spacious and comfy.

The house was close to all of the golf courses. Our favorite was Paa Ko Ridge and Twin Warriors.

If we decide to play golf again in New Mexico, we will definitely go with this house again.

You won't be disappointed.
Owner's Response: Ted, glad I could help with the arrangements. The photos don't do justice for the size of the living room. Guess I need one of those fish eye lenses to capture that. The serve through counter is really nice between the kitchen and dining room. There is 81 feet of solid slab granite counter tops in the kitchen.
As far as the Internet goes I have since added a wireless router so that up the 4 laptops can access at the same time. The master bedroom is fantastic and the bed is one of the best beds I have ever slept in with quality sheets. If you are reading this and are going to book this house be sure YOU get the master bedroom and you will feel what we are talking about. The mattress and box springs cost $3200 new add 400 count quality sheets and ZZZZZZZZZZ will be all you hear at night. I agree on both of the golf courses. I also like Cochiti not for the course but for the views. Ted, I really appreciate the comments and hope to see your group again next time you come to ABQ. Jim

We was able to check in at our time frame, was very pleased with the entire home. At night the area was quite and I was not worried about going out at night.
Owner's Response: Tom, I have taken for granted telling people about the Siesta Hills Subdivision. Yes it is a safe place and very quiet. The majority of the residents are retired military or hospital employees. The neighborhood was built around the Lovelace family homes, which is the founding family of the Lovelace Hospital (one block to the West). The house on the corner is one of the original Lovelace family homes as well as the huge compound a little further down Ridgecrest Drive. Being so close to the hospital and Kirtland Air Force base with quality homes being built it was a perfect fit for both high ranking military and doctors. The majority of them have since retired but still live in the same house. The neighborhood park is very nice and only one block away. Bullhead Park is the cities largest sports park with baseball, soccer, football, etc fields and is about one and a half blocks away. The Lovelace hospital and the Veterans hospital border the West side and Kirtland Air Force base border the South and East side of the subdivision. There is only three roads which access the entire area and no through traffic at all. Tom thanks so much for mentioning this and staying with us!

Thank you again for your generous hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, in fact, there were probably too many games and distractions which made for many a late night with our golf group. Only real challenges we had were towels and coordinating the 1 shower for all 8 of us. The kitchen was fantastic though and we were very conveniently located to a number of great restaurants and golf courses. Our golf group travels all over the country and this truly was a home away from home!
Owner's Response: Kevin, thanks for the response and the kind words. Sorry that game portion of the house kept you up late .......no..no I'm not, thats why we have so many things to do there is so you interact with each other..lol. I have added numerous more towels as the new hot tub has increased towel usage a lot so there are plenty now. As for the bear claw bathtub we are in the process of getting bids to either modify it to include a shower or to remodel the whole bathroom to modern fixtures. Part of the charm is the antique dresser as the vanity and the bear claw tub. I am hoping we can be able to retro fit the antique tub and keep it. Either way another shower will be in place soon. We are glad it felt like home away from home! Thanks for staying with us!

Jim, we had a great time in Albuquerque and the house was great. The kids played air hockey and pool for hours. We also enjoyed the space. With three families, we had to use the couches but we had plenty of room for the day to day stuff. We would definitely consider the house again if we go back to Albuquerque.
Tim & Sheri
Owner's Response: Tim & Sheri, Albuquerque is a fun place and I am glad the three families has a great time and the house could accommodate the entire bunch. Sometimes on weekends when the house is not booked all of our family that lives here in ABQ gets together at the house for dinner and a night of fun. There is something for everyone and all have a great time. I am glad to hear that your families put it to use for just that as that was the idea when we created the Game Room House concept. Thanks and I hope we see you and your family again,
Jim

Jim,
We had the best time ever at your house! I still cannot believe that 3 families fit into the house and that the kids were kept occupied with all the games, it will be a trip that all of us will remember and brag about for a long time to come. The only thing we would recommend is with that large of a group that people might think to bring some extra towels especially with all the time that was spent in the hot tub! Thank you for being so accommodating and for getting us that wonderful turkey, I cannot remember if anyone left the money for it, if not let me know and I will send you a check. The park that was just walking distance from the house allowed us to play our annual "Turkey Bowl" football game Thursday morning after we had put the turkey in the oven, and my team won! We did go to the Twinkle light parade on Saturday night and when the fire trucks went by we waved extra hard and the kids called out "Hi Jim" to every one just in case you were there. We went to the zoo where I have some friends and got a great behind the scenes tour that impressed my friends (they got to feed the kangaroos some bread). Thank you again so much for making our Thanksgiving so special!
Jill V
Owner's Response: Jill, thank you so much for the praise of the house. We are glad the activities kept the kids busy so you could get Thanksgiving dinner cooked. I will be sure to add LOTS of pool towels so large families (or 3 families) don't have to bring towels :} consider it done.
You are welcome for the Thanksgiving turkey. No worries about reimbursing us, consider it a holiday gift (that does not mean we are buying turkeys for everyone...only on Thanksgiving..lol). Since you had enough for a whole football team I can imagine having the park a block away was a real treat and a lot of fun. Thanks for the support at the Twinkle Light Parade but I was working in the Fire Station and not in the parade. The zoo trip sounds like it was fun. I really like it there and believe ABQ has a fantastic zoo. You are VERY welcome and I hope to see your families again next time your visiting Albuquerque,
Your host firefighter Jim

We loved your house. We were 7 men and my wife coming out for a bowling tournament. Your house had everything we needed to make sure everyone was comfortable. We had a great time. Your house is decorated beautifully and truly lives up to its name of the Game Room House. There were plenty of things to amuse us all. My wife loved all the little touches and now wants to redecorate our home. THANKS for a great time if we are out there again we will definitely rent again.
Owner's Response: Scott, we are glad your group had a great time and were comfortable in the home. Sorry about the expense of having to redecorating your house....lol! We will be glad to see you and the bunch next time your in Albuquerque! Jim & Kathy

This was a great house for our family reunion. The
owners are great to work with, and the house is in
a nice neighborhood and is like-new.
A word of advice though: do a MapQuest or ask the
owners for directions beforehand because there are
3 streets with the same name that all intersect
within one block of each other: one is Drive, another is Loop, and a third is Place (written in tiny
letters). And Loop and Place tie into each other and
they both have a house with the same number, so
look closely at the picture on the website so you
know what the house you're looking for looks like!
Owner's Response: Carolyn, thanks for the wonderful praise about the house! We go to great measures to make it feel like home, have everything you need and keep it a fun place with lots of activities to do. You are right about the streets all having similiar names and everyone will get a detailed map from now on. Thanks for the response and the advice. Hope to see you in Albuquerque again soon, Jim & Kathy.
