Charming Studio in Montmartre

Just two blocks from the steps of Sacre-Coeur.

Come and taste the Parisian life: Montmartre is the home of many artists and entertainers. From Place Charles Dullin, enter the gate of Villa Dancourt and its private courtyard.

Our studio is situated on the third floor (there is an elevator). It has lots of sun and light throughout the day with a view of the courtyard from the large bay window, and at night it is very quiet. it is suitable to sleep four but preferably for two.

just outside the gate you will find bistros, restaurants, quaint artsy boutiques (upcoming fashion designers), fashion jewelry ,antique shops, little markets and a great supermarket for groceries.

the apt offers all the necessities: a convenient kitchenette that allows light cooking, a large shower in the bathroom that is a favorite of our renters, a flat screen TV with english channels for the latest news.

For your convenience we have internet connection and a land phone .

Montmartre is a unique artsy area : Step outside our apt, place Charles Dullin with its oldest theatre of Paris, lots of outside cafes and little restaurants where you meet artists from all over the world. Visit the Montmartre museum, Dali Museum with 300 of his master pieces .For a walk through the widing streets up to the Sacre Coeur where all the lovers meet, you will have the best view of Paris and feel the heart of Paris. Behind Sacre Coeur is the'Place du Tertre' where artists paint outside and sell their works . You can also enjoy all kinds of souvenirs shops and cafes.

Night in town: Montmartre is the most entertaining at night with famous bars and night clubs. For the most entertaining shows, the Moulin Rouge is just a couple of blocks away., and the cafes are also for people watching. Paris lives at night.

We had the pleasure of renting this lovely apartment in July of 2009 and it was a wonderful experience! The beds were so comfortable and it was so nice to be able to open up the windows and let the cool breezes in. Everything you need is here, including a handy little washing machine! The building has a charming art deco feel to it. The space looks exactly as it does in the pictures, very chic and clean. There are many fantastic shops and restaurants in the area as well! We would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends. Hopefully we will be able to visit again someday!

First Timers in Paris

Francoise is wonderful. This was our first trip to Europe and first time booking through HomeAway and it could not have gone more smoothly. Francoise was more than helpful and very personable. The apartment is lovely and very close to bakeries for your daily bread and pastries. The market is just at the entrance to the gated courtyard and makes for a most convenient place to stop off to pick up groceries as you return from a day of exploring. The best feature, that I just have to mention, was the in-unit laundry. We were traveling across europe for 3 weeks and sought out apartments that had laundry units as we were packing light. It was great to pop in a load rather than do each item one-by-one in the sink. Montmartre is, literally, about a block or two away and there are shops, bars, bakeries everywhere you look; a truly wonderful location to call 'home' for a week.

Since our trip I've raved about Home Away and Francoise and told all of my friends and family that I know just the place to book for their first trip to Paris. As for us, we can't wait to go back.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your sharing your experience as a first timer in Paris. Your detailed information will be helpful to future renters.
We hope you will be back as we have had several precious renters back.

Perfect location, experience!

Both my husband and I were delighted about the location of the studio. It is literally halfway between two metro stations, and situated very close to many boutiques and stores that are unique to French style and tastes. There are a few bakeries that are literally just around the corner, absolutely delicious. The neighbors were so kind and gracious, quiet and helpful.

To visit the tourist attractions, each trip on the metro took approximately 15 mins with one change here and there. Easy, convenient. We were cautioned about pickpockets but while on the train, the locals were the very ones to be watching out for us as foreigners! Literally.

Françoise is a pure delight to communicate with, and provided personal detail and assistance at all times. Alice is the kind guardian of the key and flat-- she was also so helpful and kind.

The place was immaculate and quaint, exactly as the photos reveal. There is a little washing machine in the washroom, which was really convenient-- we used it twice during our 5 day stay, which was great for our baby's clothes and such. There is a drying rack right beside the sink, so the load was dried by morning.
The spacious shower is amazing-- a lovely surprise for such a small place!

Most importantly, we had our little 9 month old baby with us. Having two fold out beds worked really well for us, and a perfect little kitchen to provide her meals is something that would prove to be difficult in a hotel.
There were pots and pans, a coffee maker, wine glasses, a fridge, tv with international channels, Internet and international calling. We cooked snacks every day. There is a huge grocery store 4 mins away, and several tiny markets around the blocks-- not to mention a fruit stand literally outside the gate.

We are used to staying in 4-5 star hotels and this is our first time trying homeaway. Definitely changed our experienced, enriching our stay in Paris.
Would return to stay here. Hope this info is helpful to you, and enjoy!
Owner's Response: My goal will always be to help renters feel they have made a good decision with their rental and that it meets their expectations.

Highly Recommended - Live Like a Parisian

We absolutely loved our apartment where we stayed for one month. It's peaceful, safe, quiet, clean and well cared for. It's the best place to stay if you want to live like a Parisian and experience the best of Paris. Easy access to transportation, walk to the helpful tourism office, shopping and restaurants galore. We enjoy exercising so we walked to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and Champs Elysses in about 30-45 minutes while taking in all the sights along the way and stopping for lunch. We also enjoyed the open-top tour bus which took us to all the same places. We spent time at Monceau Park where we jogged with the locals and enjoyed sitting in the grass for lunch. Our favorite is the Sacre Couer - there's nothing else like it! it's right here in the neighborhood. We sat on the steps and enjoyed the beauty of overlooking the city of Paris.
Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your experience. Your active lifestyle in Paris will inspire others.

My husband and I stayed at Francoise's apartment last September and loved it! He maintains a very clean place. He were delighted to find we had a small washing machine as well as full kitchen and internet if needed. He was very easy to work with, and even went the extra mile to provide a map and information about his favorite restaurants/walks/places to visit. The location is great, with close proximity to the Parisian subway as well as Sacre Cour and the Montemarte community. I have verbally recommended his place to friends and just now got around to writing a formal review. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Montmartre Studio Apartment

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this little studio apartment in Montmartre very much. Francoise made it happen. Her descriptions were precise, her instructions and advice impeccable. Being new to Paris and having limited French, we found her informational letters invaluable in getting us out and about. We loved the area, never felt nervous or unsafe, and the apartment was very quiet at night.

There is nothing that we can fault about our stay except that my husband didn't find the sofa bed very comfortable. In my opinion, it is definitely the most comfortable sofa bed I have ever slept on, and we found the living space very manageable. I wouldn't recommend it for 4 adults, or at least 4 adults who aren't used to one another.

For Americans, the prices are in dollars, and it's easy to write a check if you are stateside.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to this apartment, if I am ever lucky enough to return to Paris.

Hidden Treasure in Montmartre

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Paris thanks to 'our' perfect little apartment in this historic building in Montmartre and Francoise's abundant and excellent advice about what to see and do during our visit. The apartment is Paris-chic and spotless.

The proximity to many local markets and the apartment's well-equipped kitchen afforded us the option to dine in or out, depending on how many miles we covered sight-seeing during the day.

The convenience of access to the internet via wi-fi enabled us to stay connected and gather any additional information we needed as we planned each day's adventures.

We loved meandering up and down the streets of Montmartre filled with galleries and shops, great restaurants, cafes and brasseries - most more affordable than in the city center and equally warm and wonderful.

Restaurants we loved in Montmartre include Le Basilic and Les Poulbot's beef bourguignon was extraordinaire.

We have already recommended this hidden treasure to our friends and relatives and talked on the flight home about what we have yet to explore in Paris on our next visit.

Merci beaucoup, Francoise!

Thanksgiving in Paris

There were four of us...all adults and the apartment worked out just great! We loved our stay in Montmarte. Three of our children had rented the apartment in the summer for a stay so we knew a lot about the location and what was available in the apartment. We did so much sightseeing during the day that we mainly used the apartment for sleeping :) It was very clean and efficient. We loved the location and as everyone else has mentioned the access to the Metro was very easy. We ended up taking the RER to the airport on our way home because I waited to long to make cab arrangements but it was not much of a hassle. Francoise was very helpful before and during the trip. I would definitely recommend this apartment to family and friends traveling to Paris.

October 2010 rental

"We agree with all of the reviews above. Location was terrific, but bring good walking shoes. Easy Metro access, stores of all sorts, and a never-ending stream of terrific little restaurants in walking distance. The apartment itself was clean, safe, quiet and well outfitted. Yes, it is small, but comfortable enough for two. The small clothes washer got a lot of use. The heated drying rack was effective when used overnight. Other comments: the owner was extremely helpful by email during our stay. We had some anxiety about our return flights, given the strikes and blockages when we were there, and Francoise helped us work through that, and we had no troubles. She also recommended a driver for the CDG airport to and fro, which turned out to be an excellent option. Heartier souls may do fine with the RER train. So, all in all, an excellent flat from which to base one's visit to Paris."

Everything was as promised. The apartment is small, but big enough for two. The location pleased us, it's just a short walk from the metro station and all the services of Montmartre are just around the corner. For us the apartment was perfect homebase to explore all the sights of Paris!
