High Praise for Southport Suite!

We spent close to a week in Chicago recently and were absolutely smitten with our home base - Chicago Southport Suite.

Years ago, before I was married, I lived in Chicago. My husband and I share a love of Chicago and now with two growing boys, we make 2-3 treks per year in hopes our boys will build wonderful memories and grow to love the Windy City as much as we do.

This was the first trip (of dozens) where our sleeping quarters were as enjoyable as the city. This place is just lovely! Beautiful wood work. Tasteful decor. Everything you need to settle in and make it your home away from home.

The neighborhood is wonderful but if you want to get downtown - the brown line is a half block away and the red line is 2 blocks away. We made a couple trips into the city but spent most of our time exploring the local area. Try D'agastinos for delicious thin crust pizza. Crisp italian ice at the place on Southport 2 doors down from the condo. Chicago Kids book store across the street has an impressive selection. Rich and heavy breakfast at Ann Sather.. Wow, I could go on and on..

We will be back! Thanks Jim.

I stayed in this apartment for six weeks during an extended work assignment in Chicago & it was fabulous! Having lived in Chicago previously, I wanted to stay on the northside, and I could not have asked for a better place. The apartment is furnished nicely with luxurious linens (the sheets and towels were amazing!), a plasma TV, a bathroom complete with everything one could possibly need (hairdryer, soaps, mouthwash, shaving cream, etc.), weekly cleaning service, books about Chicago, kitchen supplies, etc., etc. In short, it had everything I needed to be a very comfortable home-away-from-home for six weeks.

The apartment is about three minutes to the Southport Brown Line stop & it took about half an hour to get to my office on the southside of the Loop. The neighborhood itself is fantastic -- a supermarket is just up the street, dry-cleaners abound, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars.

The owner, Jim, was also extremely responsive in addressing a couple of very minor items (e.g. when the iron died, I emailed him one morning and a replacement was in my apartment two hours later...even though I told him I would not be home until later that night).

I have already recommended the place to many of my friends and colleagues & hope to return soon myself!

We booked this apartment through the VRBO web site and were utterly delighted with it. The location is brilliant - N Southport street is full of restaurants, bars, unusual shops and a great supermarket and the apartment is 2 mins walk from the El station. The apartment itself has everything you would expect and more - a great kitchen, very comfortable lounge and so many nice extras and lots of space. On our trip from Aus we stayed in 5 different apartments in various countries - and this was the best. Email us if you have any questions as we'd love other people to have the good experience we had.

We stayed for two weeks during our daughter's
recovery from surgery. We felt so lucky to have such
comfortable and luxurious accommodations. I was
stunned at the thoughtfulness of the owners, who
provided every necessary toiletry item just in case
guests had forgotten something (and I mean EVERY
item!) and also stocked the kitchen with basics like
salt and pepper, sugar, coffee filters, coffee, tea,
water bottles, soda-I'll say it again: they really did
think of everything! We'll be back, too!

Excellent accomodations. Great location. My wife and I loved it. It was a great get away for us suburbanites to be able to come down and experience all that the city has to offer.

It was great for the "lifelong Suburbanites" (that is my wife and I) to be able to come down and comfortably experience all the city has to offer. The accomodations were excellent and the location can't be beat. As others have said, you truly thought of everything.

What a lovely place. This was almost like staying at home. It was close to our children, Wrigleyville, Lakeview and many other great nieghborhoods. We enjoyed checking out the local taverns, restaurants, and shopping. We would definitely stay here again and look forward to returning.

My family and I stayed at the Southport Suites for my graduation weekend and loved it. The condo is beautiful and comfortable. It gave us a great spacious place to relax, so we did not feel the need to be out and about all day (it was rather cold). The condo was stocked with coffee supplies, bathroom supplies, and everything you could need. I particularly appreciated the board games that were available (I hadn't played clue in forever!). I would highly recommend it as a great place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here for a week. Just around the corner from our daughter who just moved to Chicago. The accomodations were wonderful. Very comfortable, just like home. My daughter actually wanted to move in. It is conveniently located to train station, easy access to anywhere in Chicago. Located right in the middle of Southport, a very nice neighborhood. Restaurants and shoping right outside our door. Couldn't ask for anything better. Jim F., property manager, was a pleasure to deal with
