I just wanted to say that our stay at your Cottage was the most memorable experience we've had! The location is ideal - close to Old Town, 15-minute walk to Metro, 15 minute drive to Mount Vernon, etc. We loved having the kitchen available to us and your neighborhood is extremely beautiful and safe! We had a wonderful time visiting the area (our first time staying in VA) and will definitely stay at the Cottage again!

My husband and I came home to the DC area for a Skins game and had a great time. The cottage is in a perfect spot. It's in a really nice, friendly neighborhood. When we weren't out visiting friends we walked to Old Town every night. There are so many nice restaurants and shops within a short stroll. I went to the Whole Foods for a few things and it's just a minute down the road. We did not use the Metro this time but it was nice to know it's only a few blocks away if we needed it. Jack is a wonderful host!

Our Daughter sent us away for our 44th Wedding Anniversary to the Cottage, it was quaint,clean and well maintained. We love the Garden, we had our Breakfast on the Beautiful Patio.The Owners Jack and Nyla was very accomodating .We enjoyed King St. the shops and Restaurants.We would indeed stay at the Cottage again if Jack and Nyla would have us.

The Cottage is a charming spot in an upscale neighborhood. The two of us were comfortable in every conceivable way: nice bed, linens; extremely well-equippped kitchen; wifi; terrific private patio; W/D; easy access to downtown Alexandria and Metro; calm place of respite from D.C. area touring; lovely art; very welcoming, accommodating host (Jack); and of course, we adored his 4-footed friend--Nylla. (Only caveat might apply to those with ADA concerns, since stairway that goes from bedroom/bathroom on entry floor to kitchen and patio area downstairs is quite narrow/steep.)

We loved The Cottage and hope to return during subsequent trips to D.C.

We spent a week this past July in the Cottage and had a great time. We felt comfortable enough to ask Jack for suggestions on eating out or anything really, but he was never intrusive during our stay. Everything we needed was easily accessible and very hotel-like. Upon our arrival we found a welcome binder with maps, metro info, local eatery menus, information for tourists on local attractions, etc. It had everything you needed to have a great time during our stay. I definitely recommend the cottage just as much as I would a hotel! You have everything from a full kitchen to an outside patio with a grill for barbecues at a much more affordable price than a hotel, which the cottage is definitely comparable to if not better. The cottage is only minutes away (walking distance) from the metro that takes you into DC and the famous King Street that offers dining, shopping, and entertainment for all ages. When they say everything is bigger in Texas, it is no understatement, but staying at the cottage with all it's charm in such a beautiful and historic neighborhood, gave us a more authentic experience of colonial times. My only concern would be the bed, which was a little uncomfortable at times, but what I hear from Jack he was expecting a new one soon and the bathroom, which seemed perfectly fine to us, will be upgraded soon, and since it's taking me so long to post this review, it probably already has!! Should we ever go back to the DC area, the Cottage will be our first choice!!!

Our May 2012 week at the Cottage was Go-Go-Go! Graduation, shopping, site seeing, tours-everything we could put into a 24 hour day. And each night Jack's charming, affordable Cottage truly became home for the four of us. Evenings on the beautiful, quiet patio relaxed us. With a clean, well stocked kitchen, we were able to fix several meals, which was a real plus for the travel budget, and the separate, fully equipped laundry room was a life saver! Jack accommodated all our needs while allowing us our privacy; we really appreciated the "information binder" with helpful tips on everything from places to eat, to directions for using the cable TV. Although we had a car, the walk to the metro was very pleasant. We enjoyed strolling through historic Alexandria, with quaint shops and a variety of wonderful restaurants. This is definitely a safe, charming neighborhood, and we thank Home Away for helping us find "the Cottage". Great for couples (even two couples, like us), families with kids and singles. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed a week at Jack's cottage and had a wonderful time. It was near the metro which we walked to everyday. The walk to the metro felt very safe. The cottage was lovely, Jack was awesome, and we had a wonderful time. If we were ever back in the area we would stay at this place again.

Stayed at the property during the entire month of January 2012. Jack was extremely helpful throughout my visit. The location is very nice and only a short walk to the Metro and Old Town. The Cottage was updated, neat and perfect for my needs. The Cottage is highly recommended and I would absolutely stay at this location again.
