A Piece of Heaven on Earth

Auntie Pam New York
Review Submitted: December 28, 2007 Date of Stay: July 2007
I've been going to Nirvana for at least ten years. It's a laid back kind of place...cottages, simple and kept spotlessly clean...you feel like you're in botanical gardens...you never feel like you're being intruded upon...it's safe and peaceful. The grounds are kept clean 24 hours a day. The staff is amazing and so helpful. In the morning, you hear the gentle lilt of Jamaican accents...as you awake to the scent of Blue Mountain coffee brewing... you can get your laundry done...you can have one meal a day cooked for you. Nirvana has it's own stretch of beach and you're never intruded upon...you can just relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. It's in the middle of everything and can walk to all the restaurants on the beach. There's music every night, somewhere along the beach. So, if you want a peaceful, private holiday, without the glitz and glamour of a hotel, try the little cottage in Negril, have a holiday at Nirvana.
Owner's Response: we love to take care of everything for you to have the best vacation ever

Wonderful beachfront property

Review Submitted: December 15, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I just wanted to drop a note in regards to our stay at Nirvana. Our trip was everything we were hoping it would be and then some. For starters the photo’s on their homepage does very little to really show just how beautiful and well maintained the property is. Just from cruising up and down the beach it was clear that Nirvana had the nicest facilities on the beach. The grounds were so well maintained that it almost appeared that you were always the first person to walk on the sand.
While we were there stayed in the Sundeck Suite which provided us with a wide open wonderful view of the property and the beach immediately behind you. The interior of the room was about the size of a master bedroom with an adjoining kitchenette and nice sized closet for storage. The kitchenette was more than enough to allow us to cook the majority of our meals while visiting. The staff is no doubt the unsung heroes of our visit to Negril. The ladies always found a way to have your room and deck cleaned without once ever being seen. It really went a long way to instilling a sense of privacy. We also had the pleasure of having the ladies cook a lobster dinner for us which was no doubt the best meal I think we had. Buying your lobster directly from the local fisherman just makes it that much better. I want to make special mention of Errol and Moses who were the always there to see that our every need and comfort were taken care of. These two men were perhaps the two people we were in contact with the most and what great guys they are. No doubt we missed them within days of returning to Texas.
While wondering off the reservation some restaurants we visited and were most impressed by were the La Vendrome at Charela Inn and Best in the West. The Charela Inn while a bit pricey was absolutely terrific from the food to the ambiance. Very nice very romantic while still allowing you to wear beach attire. Most definitely worth a dinner. Another place we really enjoyed was Best in the West which was the best jerk chicken I’ve ever had. Much more a bargain than fast food in the states even with the Red Stripes. Another place we had lunch at regularly was the bar and grill right next door. The food was fine and the drink specials never seemed to end. If we had one less than exciting dining experience it was at the Ristorante Da Gino. Pricey and not even close in quality to what the ladies at Nirvana prepared for us.

had a relaxing stay at nirvana Jan 2008

I stayed at the Nirvana in the middle of the 7 mile beach with my significant other this January (2008) and had exactly the kind of mellow time we were looking for. It is perfect if you are not a big fan of the all inclusive huge resort mentality. Nirvana felt like staying at a friends cottage on the beach!! Staff was very friendly and accommodating, we completely fell in love with Rocky, he has a kind heart and always a smile on his face and ready to help in whatever you may need. The property is run very well and Sigi is the manager there and will arrange a driver (and ideas) for any day trip or anything else you may need.
There is no need to ever leave the area if you feel like just "chillin".
We walked on the beach next door to Gino's Italian restaurant quite often for breakfast and dinner, they are amazing!!
You can also get whatever you want (fruits, patties, drinks,,,) right on the beach from many locals selling items. You can also get Nirvana staff to bring you an entire sack full of oranges for fresh squeezed OJ every morning (yes, the can also come and make a pitcher of it for you every morning!!)
Nirvana is great for anyone looking to spend a peaceful fun times in paradise!!!! It was amazing falling asleep to the sound of the gentle ocean, ahh! to be back at nirvana...

I couldn't stop crying at the airport

Review Submitted: January 8, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2007
My brother and I returned from Nirvana Dec 7, 2007.....I am still missing Jamaica and I feel like I left a piece of my heart there. I tend to not enjoy the resorty-luxury accomodations..when I travel I want to surround myself with the real people..not fellow tourists. Nirvana met this need, 100%! The setting is beautiful with nice cabins, lots of trees, beautiful flowers and just steps from the tranquil beach. I loved the staff.....my "girlfriends"who walked by every morning and called out "good morning beautiful lady" (what a way to start the day) (I wanted to take Leona home w me), the security staff (especially Moses and Rocky), and Breezy, our driver! I am not good at relaxing but after a day or so, I found myself actually sitting and staring at the water, taking a zillion pictures of the sunset and getting to know the other folks staying at Nirvana.....I broke down in the airport and could not stop crying....as much as I needed to go home, I just wanted to stay.....my brother warned me that I'd cry when I left and I didn't believe him.....its been a month and I still get teary but happy with my memories! Peaceful, comfortable, not fancy

Long-time guest Bloomington, Indiana
Review Submitted: January 5, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
My husband and I have stayed at Nirvana after Christmas for the past 15 years or so. We were also married in Nirvana's garden. Obviously, we like it very much. The staff have been there many years and are very responsive, the grounds are clean and beautifully groomed, the cottages and rooms are clean and comfortable, and the beach front is lovely. We like Nirvana precisely because it is low-key--no phones, no TV, no bar, no restaurant, no non-guests allowed on the property. If you are looking for a wild place, or for an all-inclusive place, or for high luxury, this is not the place for you. But if you want a peaceful, comfortable, relaxing, unpretentious spot, this is it!

love the beach and friendly staff

our family of 4 truly enjoyed the beach and the grounds at Nirvana. The staff-prepared meals were outstanding and the staff was always pleasant and cheerful. Everything was clean and pleasant. Most of all we enjoyed the private atmosphere (without peddlers or curious wanderers) Our kids wandered the property freely and we were comfortable in or cottage. The pre-arranged airport transfer was helpful, and made our trip hassle-free. it's nice to get away from tv's, phones, and electronics. A perfect escape on a spotless beach!!

A LITTLE BIT OF PARADISE

2008 will be our 12th year at Nirvana. Need I say more!

While the accomodations are rustic, they are clean and neat and meet our every need.

The cottages are spacious and private. The grounds are lush and beautiful. The staff is friendly and attentive.

My only request each year is one more day.
Owner's Response: thanks for coming back, your friends at Nirvana love to see the family

Fabulous Nirvana

JBF Lincoln, NE
Review Submitted: December 29, 2007 Date of Stay: November 2006
Nirvana is a small, boutique hotel with (I think) eight units total right on the beach. The units are different sizes, a couple are attached, some are freestanding. All the units are spread out, with fabulous grounds around them. The property sits on the best stretch of Negril Beach. There are bars and restaurants all up and down the beach, but none at Nirvana. This is a good thing - as Nirvana is quiet and peaceful and just for the few lucky folks staying there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The unit we stayed in was extremely comfortable, clean and spacious. We had a fabulous time at fabulous Nirvana and would go back there in a heart beat.

There are better resorts along Nigril, especially for the money they are charging. Rooms and service are mediocre.

Experience true Nirvana at Nirvana on the Beach

Iriecharleston Charleston. SC
Review Submitted: May 28, 2007 Date of Stay: May 2007
This was our first visit to Nirvana on the Beach and we've decided it's the only place we'll stay in Negril from now on. We were looking for a "non-hotel" type atmosphere and Nirvana provides exactly that: lovely clean cottages, surrounded by lush tropical trees, plants, gardens, admist a bird sanctuary, on the best beach in Negril. There's only 9 cottages, and each one is unique and designed for maximum privacy, yet they all provide fantastic views of the grounds and the ocean.

We stayed in the Sun Deck Suite overlooking the ocean. It was perfect - very clean, private, quiet, with a large king-size bedroom, master bath, kitchen, walk-in closet with a security lock box for valuables. It has A/C but we never needed it! There's ceiling fans in every room with plenty of cross breezes and it was a real treat to hear the "quiet". The front door opens up to a beautiful, tiled patio and large private sun deck. We enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the birds, having coffee on the sundeck, going for a swim in the ocean, and walking right next door to have breakfast at an outdoor covered beachfront restaurant.

Without a doubt, Nirvana has the best beach in Negril - 2 acres of beautiful, clean, wide stretch of white soft sand, and the groundskeeper rakes the beach every morning. You can charter a snorkeling cruise on a glass bottom boat that leaves right from the beach. The security guard even sets up your lounge chairs for you. We especially appreciated the outdoor shower to hose off the sand coming in from the beach.

The staff is absolutely top notch! Breezy, our driver, picked us up at the airport and he was very friendly, thorough and professional. He gave us a little tour of the neighboring towns enroute to the hotel. Sigi, the Manager, and Sidney and Moses, our Security Guards were positively wonderful. They made us feel very welcome and completely safe and secure. Nirvana is completely fenced in and Sidney did an outstanding job in keeping the hawkers away. Lynne, our Housekeeping and Rocky the gardener were also very warm, friendly and helpful.
All of the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Nirvana is right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach so you're minutes away from everything. One of the best restaurants in Negril is just a very short walk down the beach (Kuyaba).

Lonnie, the owner, handled our reservations beautifully and true to her word, at Nirvana, "all you have to do is ask!" You really do feel like family at Nirvana and we can't wait to come back!
