A Great Stay

Our two kids, their spouses and kids (5) had a terrific time at Hawk Street. It has all the goodies, and is very close to golf, the zoo, Sea World and down town. We recommend it highly.

Great Stay in San Diego

Location is 3 miles north of the Gaslamp and the convention center but easily accessible by car. San Diego is a easy city for driving. Neighborhood is a bit hard to navigate as streets are a bit confusing. Walking to the Trolley (~3/4 mile) is not recommended though as have to cross 2 highways. Taxis were easy to use and $15 with tip to Gaslamp. Very close to airport with $15 cab ride from airport to home.
Beautiful home with plenty of space, a very nice heated pool, a large heated hot tub, a very big grill and outdoor fire pit. Master suite on 2nd floor is very nice, basement room is large with a king bed and a queen pull out couch. Bunk bed room had a real bed on top (twin) and a futon mattress (full size) on bottom.
We stayed with 5 people for a convention for 1 week and had plenty of space. The kitchen was big and well stocked, appliances including stove, fridge, dishwasher, 2 sinks, disposal, oven worked very well. Audio system and TV/cable worked great.
Overall, great place for a convention with more privacy and space than staying downtown.

Secluded, Yet Convenient !!

Navigating in San Diego proved simple, because everywhere we visited was within 7 to 10 minutes of Hawk Street Hacienda !! The neighborhood restaurants held great variety, were inexpensive, and the proprietors were very friendly and accommodating. Hawk Street was the perfect "home away from home" with a large kitchen/family room gathering space, and the picturesque patio/pool/outdoor grill/firepit. We went to National City to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday, and this home provided us the perfect sanctuary in which to relax after all of the gatherings. Everything was super clean and well stocked with linens/towels/pots/pans. Response from Management to our queries was prompt and efficient. We will certainly be back !!

Overall, we were satisfied with the rental. Very good location, close to all that San Diego has to offer.
House was clean, pool could have been cleaner, was a lot of leaves floating in the pool, not sure when pool cleaner came during our stay. Some suggestions for improvement would be newer towels, as they were all fraying on the ends. Also, the bunk bed room Is in need of updated bedding, seemed very old and worn. The art of human bodies on the walls was somewhat inappropriate for our children. Overall, the house needs maintenance and upkeep where old curtains had been hung and there were holes left, cable wires just coming out of the wall without plates covering them. Was a cracked window on the stairwell going up the steps, the footboard of the bed frame in the basement king room was broken. The downstairs smelled musty and saw some black mold like dots in the hallway closet down there. The master bath shower was difficult to adjust the temperature correctly.
Overall, would like to rent again if not asking as much per night. Would have thought for the price paid, would have had hotel quality towels and bedding throughout and inside updated more. All home improvements that have been done were done to the best specifications, just appears they are lacking attention to maintenance issues.
I should say that management company was responsive to our calls and questions and took care of any issues we had. The property was clean.

Amazing location

The house was amazing. It had everything we need and much more. The property manager and owner were very accomodating and were on top of all the issues that we raised during our stay. They got the issues fixed immediately. The location was central to virtually everything we wanted to see. There is even a convenience store a couple of blocks away from the property. When we need anything it was a short car, even a short walk, away from the house.
The outdoor area was spectacular too. We used the pool, the jacuzzi and the bbq area during our stay.
Highly recommended! A definete A+ on our book. Thanks Mark and Mike!

Fun times in San Diego

I stayed in this house with a group of educators who traveled to San Diego from around the world to attend an educational technology conference. We actually called this house the "educrib." There were 14 of us and we found the home to be plenty large enough for us. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We never found that we were tripping over each other. Many evenings were spent outside in the hot tub and then warming up by the fire pit.
I would not even consider staying anywhere else if I ever have the opportunity to return to San Diego!

Fun Times in San Diego!

My family of 10 stayed at this vacation home for a week. We had a blast in the pool and hot tub! We spent two nights roasting marshmallows over the fire pit! We experienced Qualcomm Stadium, Padres Stadium, the zoo, the seaport shops, the harbor and the gaslamp district. Only 7 to 15 minutes away. We even rode the train to Tijuana (45minutes). A whole other county just minutes away! Hollywood and LA were only a two of drive. This house is in a fantastic location and is a great place for family and friends to stay! The price is well worth the experience!

What a fantastic house!!! We had 8 adults and 4 kids. The location is ideal for almost anything you would want to do. We toured the Uss Midway and did a one hour harbor tour in an afternoon. We also went to the Zoo, Seaworld and Legoland all a short distance from the house. I would highly recommend to the Fish Market. The food was wonderful. We enjoyed the firepit every night we were there and the kids loved the pool. I would recomend Hawk Street to anyone wanting a spacious and beautiful place to vacation. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!!

Big thank-you to Colleen and the owner for letting us stay at this beautiful house for our bachelor party.
A few highlights:
1) The Pool and hot tub: we spent a sunny saturday jumping in the pool, playing with pool toys, and playing cornhole poolside; the hot tub seats 8 guys comfortably, and you could add 4 or 5 to that easily if your gathering was co-ed.
2) The living room area: double glass doors open poolside, making it easy to feel like you're involved in the action even if you're inside.
3) Comfort: the house is spacious and comfortable, with bedrooms on 3 levels; "sleeps 15" comfortably with some bed-sharing. We had 15 guys, and ended up with a couple on the floor. Great views from balconies. Large gas grill. Fireplace for warming up and drying off after a dip in the pool.
4) Location: Property is located in a wide-streeted neighborhood with an abundance of parking available. We were a somewhat rowdy bunch, but had no problems with neighbors complaining about noise. House is conveniently close to the Gaslamp district, which has anything you could be interested in as far as entertainment. It took as about 5 - 10 min with traffic to get there in a cab. We ate dinner at the "Gaslamp Strip Club," a grill-your-own steak house. Recommended.
Summary: Our only nitpick was that the patio speakers were broken, so no music through the sound system. Bring an ipod dock or stereo for outside and you'll be just fine. We had some issues with the hot tub on our first day, but Colleen responded promptly to our concerns, and had the spa back up and running when we returned from an afternoon go-kart session. Overall, a terrific weekend at a beautiful house in great location! We would do it again!
