wonderful weekend

Review Submitted: August 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Our family (7 total) stayed at Hideaway by the Bay for a weekend fishing trip. The house was everything we expected and more. The house is beautifully decorated and very inviting to have a relaxing weekend. I spoke with Nancy on the phone on several occasions and she was very kind, courteous and helpful in making sure our stay was the best it could be. The e-mail we received was very detailed about everything we needed to know before we arrived, while we were there and what we needed to do before we left. On our next fishing trip to Chesapeake, we plan to stay here again. I highly recommend Hideaway by the Bay for your stay in Cape Charles!!
Owner's Response: Dear Jason’s Family,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write about your recent stay at my vacation house, “Hideaway by the Bay” in Cape Charles. I am glad you found my vacation home to be comfortable and inviting for you and your family on your weekend fishing excursion out on the Chesapeake Bay. I do hope you will return to “Hideaway by the Bay” and stay a little longer so you can also enjoy the beach; shop in the town’s nice little stores and eat at the restaurants in and around town. In case you missed it, there’s a long fishing pier at the south end of the beach for those in your family who might not want to go out on the boat. The public boat ramp in the town’s harbor is also just minutes from” Hideaway by the Bay” so you can easily launch your boat from there as well. I hope to see you again real soon. Sincerely, Nancy

Total relaxation!

This beautiful home is just that - a real home that you want to stay in and enjoy the relaxing decor. It is so warm and welcoming that you immediately forget that this is a rental. It is like a family home. Nancy has created the perfect retreat and we were torn between exploring the historic town and quaint surroundings or kicking back in the comfy stuffed recliners and letting the slower lifestyle of the beach just sink in. We loved the walks on the beach, the friendly people and the history of Cape Charles. The drive to Norfolk across the Bay Bridge and Tunnel was a scenic wonder. We loved the Cape Charles Coffee Company cafe, Stingrays, and Aqua ("the fancy restaurant"). The weekend went too quickly and our next visit will be for a full week! Thank you Nancy for a really special place to relax and hide away from the busy world.
Owner's Response: Thank you, Pam and Tom, for taking the time to write about your experience at Hideaway by the Bay. I do try very hard to make my vacation house feel as if it’s your home away from home. It’s always nice to receive positive feedback from travelers and vacationers who let you know that the effort was all worthwhile.

As brief as your stay was, surely you didn’t have the opportunity to explore all of Cape Charles; but, I’m certainly glad you enjoyed yourselves. I truly do hope you will consider returning to Hideaway by the Bay in the near future for a much longer vacation getaway. Once you return, you’ll be able to enjoy more of what Cape Charles has to offer and then you can go exploring and visit other towns up and down Route 13 on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Fall is a great time of year to enjoy your explorations as it’s not as hot and much less crowded so you can really enjoy yourselves. Thank you again for choosing Hideaway by the Bay and please come again soon. Sincerely, Nancy

rest and relaxatioon

My husband and I stayed at "Hideaway by the Bay" and loved it. We would love to come back this year. This vacation home is outfitted so well and the amenities make it extra special and nice. The owner was a dream to work with --she was very clear with her communication to us (which is vital to us) and she was incredibly accommodating to our needs. We were able to bring our sweet dog, Sarah, and that made our vacation exactly how we pictured it should be. We recommend "Hideaway by the Bay". If you like small towns without traffic and a beach that is only four blocks away you can walk to, you won't be disappointed. We found Cape Charles to be a "best kept secret." Go to Aqua restaurant on Tuesdays for dinner. It's two for one. And don't forget to try the pub in town for lunch or dinner. We carried out our lunch and ate it outside. We also liked the golf club restaurant for lunch--very laid back, but very nice. The owner's home is kept very clean. A wonderful get-away!

Perfect Vacation Home

This property went way beyond our expectations for a vacation rental. The house is beautiful, clean, well decorated and very comfortable. The owner provides many amenities that most rentals don't, even things you wouldn't think of to make it so convenient. The beach is close by and easily accessible. The description of the home was very accurate, if not modest. I would recommend this property to close friends and family, anyone. The town is so quaint and beautiful, we loved the restaurants and the historical aspect this area offers. We were absolutely thrilled with everything!

We found Cape Charles the perfect place to relax. The town is really charming. The residents all friendly. The sunsets there are spectalular!! The beach is clean and the parking free. This home is decorated beautifully and we found it to be clean and very comfortable. The owner provided a very nice welcome packet which we found to be very informative. She has provided alot of extras like sheets, towels, soap and so many other nice little things. This is an ideal spot to vacation if you want to take a break from life's hectic pace.

We would definately love to come back again and next time would like to rent a kayak.

I stayed at the rental home of Nancy Belsky from July 19 till July 26. I must say that my stay at the home was great and that house lacks nothing and more than you would expect from a ental property. The home was clean and the rooms were very well maintained.

The town of Cape Charles though small in nature is quite quant, if you are looking for a small hometown peacefulness this is it, the town has a public beach, long fishing pier and small shops to browse and to eat in, the town sits on the Chesapeake Bay and has wonderful sunsets to sit and watch, it is the quietness that will grab you if you come to visit and stay,,and I truely advise it.

Sincerely:
Rick
