We have stayed at this beautiful home for several years now. It is truly a home away from home. Everything is provided...and I mean everything! You only have to bring your clothes! The landlord, Nancy, is wonderful to work with. She allowed us to bring our 2 dogs and she even has provided for those of us who travel with our pets. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cape Charles...you won't find any better than this home! Make your reservations, pack your bags, and get ready to enjoy a relaxing, wonderful vacation in a BEAUTIFUL home!
Thank you Nancy for allowing us to enjoy your home for so many years and enabling us to make so many new memories!

Owner's Response: Dear Tim and Janis,

Thanks so very much for taking the time to write this lovely review for my vacation home in Cape Charles. With the schedules that you both keep, I just don’t know how you found the time; but, I appreciate it so much. I have thoroughly enjoyed our e-mail and phone conversations over the years about jobs, careers, commuter traffic, travel adventures, families, furry ones, etc. I especially enjoyed our happen stance meeting the day you and Tim arrived with Roxy and Buster as I was frantically trying to get the flag up for the 4th of July before you arrive;, and, I got “caught”….. With my SUV in the back yard loaded, and the air conditioning running for my two furry ones who were waiting patiently for the long drive home, I was rushing to get that last little thing done when you guys pulled into the driveway with Roxy and Buster. I finally got to meet all of you. You were so gracious; and, because I had just had such a difficult time recovering from the previous rental guests, you insisted on washing and folding the wet towels and extra sheets that I had loaded to take back home with me. You both took such good care of my home each time you stayed…as if it was your own. I can’t thank you enough for everything. I truly will miss you folks. I wish nothing but the best for both of you and your family. Good luck in your new” home away from home”. Woof, woof to Roxy and Buster from Val and Speedy.

Sincerely,

Nancy Belsky

HIDEAWAY BY THE BAY/ SIBLINGS WEEKEND RETREAT

I picked this home for our retreat because it looked extremely appealing and just what I was looking for. I spoke with the owner and found that she was just as accomdating as her listing appears to be . I wanted a weekend, even though her season had started for weekly rentals, she accomated me. She e-mailed me all the information that answered any questions that I might have.

We arrived on Saturday, the home was in immaculate condtion. Everything needed was at our finger tips, down to Body Wash, shampoo, hair dryer and other personal items. There were many local brochures, with helpful information on the area , all settled in a neat littie basket under the coffe table. The kitchen housed everything needed to cook, if we choose to. There was even freshly dated conditments in the frig.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the water hot, the heating sytem very comfortabe. If you have kids, the kids bedroom is decorated lovely and has many videos and books for them
My brother , two sisters and myself were very pleased with everything in the home.
Cape Charles is a low key, relaxing beach resort. We found the main town streets to be quite interesting . We did vist the Cape Charles Memorial Historic Library on Tazewell Ave. & Plum St., the library is soon moving to Mason St.in a Historic Bank building.

We only eat out once, the place was the Crab Shanty, located at the boat marina . The menu is seafood, which was good and the help very friendly and helpful. I loved Cape Charles and Hideaway By The Bay and hope to return in the fall .
I definitetely reccomend Hideaway By the Bay to everyone .

Our family (7 total) stayed at Hideaway by the Bay for a weekend fishing trip. The house was everything we expected and more. The house is beautifully decorated and very inviting to have a relaxing weekend. I spoke with Nancy on the phone on several occasions and she was very kind, courteous and helpful in making sure our stay was the best it could be. The e-mail we received was very detailed about everything we needed to know before we arrived, while we were there and what we needed to do before we left. On our next fishing trip to Chesapeake, we plan to stay here again. I highly recommend Hideaway by the Bay for your stay in Cape Charles!!
Owner's Response: Dear Jason’s Family,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write about your recent stay at my vacation house, “Hideaway by the Bay” in Cape Charles. I am glad you found my vacation home to be comfortable and inviting for you and your family on your weekend fishing excursion out on the Chesapeake Bay. I do hope you will return to “Hideaway by the Bay” and stay a little longer so you can also enjoy the beach; shop in the town’s nice little stores and eat at the restaurants in and around town. In case you missed it, there’s a long fishing pier at the south end of the beach for those in your family who might not want to go out on the boat. The public boat ramp in the town’s harbor is also just minutes from” Hideaway by the Bay” so you can easily launch your boat from there as well. I hope to see you again real soon. Sincerely, Nancy

Total relaxation!

This beautiful home is just that - a real home that you want to stay in and enjoy the relaxing decor. It is so warm and welcoming that you immediately forget that this is a rental. It is like a family home. Nancy has created the perfect retreat and we were torn between exploring the historic town and quaint surroundings or kicking back in the comfy stuffed recliners and letting the slower lifestyle of the beach just sink in. We loved the walks on the beach, the friendly people and the history of Cape Charles. The drive to Norfolk across the Bay Bridge and Tunnel was a scenic wonder. We loved the Cape Charles Coffee Company cafe, Stingrays, and Aqua ("the fancy restaurant"). The weekend went too quickly and our next visit will be for a full week! Thank you Nancy for a really special place to relax and hide away from the busy world.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Pam and Tom, for taking the time to write about your experience at Hideaway by the Bay. I do try very hard to make my vacation house feel as if it’s your home away from home. It’s always nice to receive positive feedback from travelers and vacationers who let you know that the effort was all worthwhile.

As brief as your stay was, surely you didn’t have the opportunity to explore all of Cape Charles; but, I’m certainly glad you enjoyed yourselves. I truly do hope you will consider returning to Hideaway by the Bay in the near future for a much longer vacation getaway. Once you return, you’ll be able to enjoy more of what Cape Charles has to offer and then you can go exploring and visit other towns up and down Route 13 on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Fall is a great time of year to enjoy your explorations as it’s not as hot and much less crowded so you can really enjoy yourselves. Thank you again for choosing Hideaway by the Bay and please come again soon. Sincerely, Nancy

My husband and I stayed at "Hideaway by the Bay" and loved it. We would love to come back this year. This vacation home is outfitted so well and the amenities make it extra special and nice. The owner was a dream to work with --she was very clear with her communication to us (which is vital to us) and she was incredibly accommodating to our needs. We were able to bring our sweet dog, Sarah, and that made our vacation exactly how we pictured it should be. We recommend "Hideaway by the Bay". If you like small towns without traffic and a beach that is only four blocks away you can walk to, you won't be disappointed. We found Cape Charles to be a "best kept secret." Go to Aqua restaurant on Tuesdays for dinner. It's two for one. And don't forget to try the pub in town for lunch or dinner. We carried out our lunch and ate it outside. We also liked the golf club restaurant for lunch--very laid back, but very nice. The owner's home is kept very clean. A wonderful get-away!

Perfect Vacation Home

This property went way beyond our expectations for a vacation rental. The house is beautiful, clean, well decorated and very comfortable. The owner provides many amenities that most rentals don't, even things you wouldn't think of to make it so convenient. The beach is close by and easily accessible. The description of the home was very accurate, if not modest. I would recommend this property to close friends and family, anyone. The town is so quaint and beautiful, we loved the restaurants and the historical aspect this area offers. We were absolutely thrilled with everything!

We found Cape Charles the perfect place to relax. The town is really charming. The residents all friendly. The sunsets there are spectalular!! The beach is clean and the parking free. This home is decorated beautifully and we found it to be clean and very comfortable. The owner provided a very nice welcome packet which we found to be very informative. She has provided alot of extras like sheets, towels, soap and so many other nice little things. This is an ideal spot to vacation if you want to take a break from life's hectic pace.

We would definately love to come back again and next time would like to rent a kayak.

I stayed at the rental home of Nancy Belsky from July 19 till July 26. I must say that my stay at the home was great and that house lacks nothing and more than you would expect from a ental property. The home was clean and the rooms were very well maintained.

The town of Cape Charles though small in nature is quite quant, if you are looking for a small hometown peacefulness this is it, the town has a public beach, long fishing pier and small shops to browse and to eat in, the town sits on the Chesapeake Bay and has wonderful sunsets to sit and watch, it is the quietness that will grab you if you come to visit and stay,,and I truely advise it.

Rick
