We purchased this property in 1990 while our children were still quite young. After a couple of years we decided to build this house for a 'get away' from the fast pace central Florida life. Because there were many months when we could not be in NC, we decided to rent it out to mountain vacationers who could enjoy the beautiful scenery and quiet tranquil life that we experienced. We found a photo of the house plan in our local newspaper and loved it, sent off for the blueprints and worked with a local contractor to build it.

Gail Kroon purchased this house in 1994

Because we live in Florida we were looking for a small town to relax in with cool temperatures year round. We scouted out 3 different locations in North Carolina and Tennessee. We visited all three while on vacation one year and picked this one, our favorite.

We were interested in finding property in an elevation that would yield cool temperatures in the summer. This property is located 3,600'. It's perfect, not too high in case there is snow in the winter and high enough to remain cool in the summer. We especially enjoy our bird feeders on the balcony and the mountain views of the Black Mountains from the living room, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms.

The owners were very professional throughout from our inquiry to sending all info to england for us. The house was perfect with beds that gave a good nights sleep to ample seating for all. we didnt realise there were so many stars in the sky till we sat on the deck each night. Usually when you write a review you can add a but or if only we had, however we cannot fault Gails house or service she provided to make our vacation one that we will always remember,
Thank you again Jane Keith Mike And Frannie

Great Views!!

This is one of the nicest vacation rentals I have ever stayed in. The views really are wonderful. Some days you would wake and be in the clouds. The fall colors are just brilliant in October. There is lots of wildlife to see, we were able to see bears and deer while we were there. It is very close to several attractions, such as Grandfather mountain and The Biltmore house in Asheville and also a couple of ski resorts like Boone. The amenities are better than described. The house is in wonderful shape. We were able to bring our family pet and he loved it too! I will defiantly return and recommend this to anyone looking for a great vacation in the mountains of North Carolina.
