Located in the 11th arrondissement, this modern 40 sq. meter (430 sq.feet) 1 bedroom apartment sleeps 2-4 comfortably. It is on the 4th floor of a newly constructed building on rue des Taillandiers, a quiet street located 5 minutes walking from Place de la Bastille. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with a queen size bed, a sofa-bed, a chair that folds out into a single bed, TV, DVD player (permitting use of both European and US format DVDs), unlimited high speed internet connection, wifi, free phone calls to fixed lines in France and to most International locations (United States included), fully equipped kitchen (with refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/microwave), washing machine, dryer, dining table and 4 chairs, and a desk. Also provided: bed linens, pillows, towels, kitchen utensils, cookware, hairdryer, iron, toaster, and coffee maker. The bedroom is separated from the living room/kitchen area by a sliding door. The building has a security code, intercom, and an elevator.

What makes this apartment unique
I am American from Chicago and have lived and worked in Paris for the past 14 years. I did my undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis where I majored in French and International Studies. I live in the same building as the rental apartment with my husband Xavier and our twin boys Luca and Sebastien (born in 2010) which allows me to be very available for any questions or problems you might have during your stay. We love the neighborhood and really enjoy meeting all the different people that have come to Paris and rented our apartment.

Construction of the building where the apartment is located was completed in 2008 so the apartment benefits from many of the advantages you can find in a new building (large elevator, modern finishes, good double windows keeping the noise and cold out, large shower, lots of hot water, etc) which is not always the case in the older apartments in central Paris. The apartment is very clean and well maintained. The area is very lively but given the apartment is on a side street it remains quite quiet and peaceful. You have all the main services necessary within a few minutes walking (grocery stores, tailor, cleaner, pharmacy, several bakeries, wine store, restaurants, cafes, bars, metro lines 1, 5, 8, and 9 and several bus lines). There is a fabulous open air market nearby on Thursdays and Sundays.
The apartment is very centrally located and very well served by public transportaion allowing you to reach all the main Paris attractions either by metro/bus or by foot. The area does not have the touristy feel you sometimes find in some of the other popular Paris neighborhoods. Many renters have commented that they felt their stayin the neighborhood and apartment allowed them to really experience what it's like to live in Paris.

Perfect in Paris

Our nervous anticipation disappeared and we knew we made the right choice as soon as we arrived and were greeted by Rachel. The apartment was as nicer than the pictures reflect. Clean with an open layout that lets you and move around without stepping on each other’s toes. Spacious closet and storage space, modern appliances and bath facilities, bright lighting, warm (we were there in February) and great security for main lobby and apartment entrance.
The location was perfect for our exploring both Paris and other cities in France. There is close access to the metro, train stations and buses. Located on small quiet rue with some nice restaurants and around the corner from the very active rue de la Roquette with many more restaurants, bakeries, groceries and a wide variety of other shops.
The way the shower, sink and toilet facilities were laid out allowed each to be accessed separately so all could be used at the same time. The open layout of the kitchen also allowed you to work together without getting in each other’s way. The furniture and mattress were very comfortable.
Other bonuses we enjoyed were the full size and separate washer and dryer, the large modern elevator, dishwasher, induction cooktop and large refrigerator. And what made this all even better was our host Rachel who was friendly, available and open to any questions.
We will definitely recommend this apartment to others and will return if we return to Paris. Thank to you Rachel for help making our visit very pleasant.

An excellent apartment in an interesting area

This apartment is even nicer than the photos suggest. We had a very good stay here for the month of November, even though the weather was grey for most of the time, since the apartment is warm and well lit, the bed and sofa were comfortable and the shower brilliant, with plenty of hot water. The apartment was well equipped, including a dryer and plenty of storage space. There was no street noise since the main window was towards the rear. Rachel was very helpful in lending her children's baby equipment for our visiting grandchildren and was always ready with useful suggestions - and booked us a taxi for our journey home.
The building has an efficient elevator and the apartment is one of only two on the 4th floor. There were 4 bakeries within 5 minutes walk and a similar number of local supermarkets, a nice cafe on the corner and many interesting shops and cafes on the local streets. Travel links were excellent with a bus stop within a couple of minutes and 2 metro stops within a few minutes away, one of which, Bastille has very good links with metro lines and bus routes. There are large local markets on Boulevard Richard Lenoir and the Marais is around 10 minutes walk away.

No Wonder This Apartment Gets Such Great Reviews

What a lovely, pristine and very comfortable apartment located in a most convenient location close to 2 metros, supermarkets, bakeries and lots of restaurants.
The apartment was well equipped which allowed us to bring dinner home after a wonderful visit to the Sunday Bastille Market (also on Thursday)....not to be missed.
Rachel, the owner is a delight. She was most accommodating and offered lots of information about Paris. Our phone calls to her were returned immediately.
This was not our first, nor will it be our last visit to Paris and this is the apartment we will return to.
The apartment was well equipped which allowed us to bring dinner home after a wonderful visit to the Sunday Bastille Market (also on Thursday)....not to be missed.

Great location in la Bastille

We've travelled to Paris often and rented various apartments in different arrondisements. As friends were living in la Bastille, we decided to investigate
the 11th this trip for our two-week visit.
The apartment is exactly as shown: lovely, clean and never gave the feeling of being too small for the 2 of us. Excellent shower and good mattress - not always found in Parisian rentals. The owner, who is American, has really thought of everything to make it a good "home away from home". We walk a lot and le Marais (with shops open on Sundays), Notre Dame and other wonderful areas of interest are only 10-15 minutes away. There are several metros in the area. The 11th is now full of really good restaurants: a few we'd suggest are "Chez Paul", "Paul Bert" and "Rino". We found "Le Fooding" magazine (available at newsagents and book stores) really helpful as well as "Pudlow" for the latest on Parisian restaurants.
Had dinner at the restaurant opposite the apartment, "Les Gallopins" and it was fine for our first night when too tired to go further afield, but we never returned. If you order the roast lamb for 2, be warned it's an entire shoulder!
As the owner of the apartment, who lives upstairs, was away during our visit, we were welcomed by a property manager who was available for any questions during our stay and very helpful. She also booked our taxi to the airport on our last day.
We would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others. Great find.

The apartment was very clean, bright, well furnished, comfortable and tabulated the location was perfect! The metro station "Bastille" was only 4 minutes away. Supermarket and bakery within walking distance (2 min). Rachel was very nice and we could call her any time. Apartment highly recommended and if we travel again to Paris, we know that this apartment is our accommodation !

Perfect location, perfect host

This was our first trip to Paris, and we were extremely pleased to find that this properly was exactly as advertised. It is clean, modern, with all the necessary amenities and in a great neighbourhood. Our host Rachel came by to speak with us and gave us great advice about shops around the city.
If you're visiting the area, try out the Vélib’ bike system. There's a stand just down the street and you can venture through all sorts of spots, giving you a unique perspective of the city.
If you want to book a special restaurant, try the Cafe Modern on Rue Notre-Dame des Victoires (there are two different ones by the same name so I'm specifying the street). It's about a half hour away when you take the Metro. Superb food and service. Rachel will also recommend it.
We would definitely recommend this rental to others.

My family (husband and a 9 year old child) stated here in October 2010 and this apartment is superior! The location is one of the best possible. I have been to Paris many times and will *always* stay in this apartment in the future. In fact, I will schedule all my Paris trips around its availability.
The apartment is gorgeous!!!!! Clean, HUGE, and well appointed. Everything you could ever need or want was part of this apartment - from luxury beddings to lovely bathrooms and a pretty street near good restaurants and the subway. It is not possible to stay in a Paris hotel for a similar price and have access to this level of modern clean luxury.
The best part of our stay, however, was the owners. They are sooo extremely helpful but not intrusive. They were there when we needed them but did not hover. Kind, thoughtful and super gracious.
This place is so great! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Rachel offers you a warm welcome to Paris. Two friends and I stayed here and it was an absolute wonderful experience. The apartment is clean, modern, room, great shower facilitiesand cooking facilities if your into that, lots of information on Paris, no need to bring your own and includes free Wi-Fi. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries near the apartment. Lots of ethnic restaurants to choose from, some of the best to be found in Paris. Close to markets, twice weekly, lots of fresh food and fruit. Very close the metro stations which gives you access to the entire city. Rachel organised a taxie for me and it was great the day I was leaving, showed up on time and got me to my destination on time. Hope to get back again and would highly recommend this apartment. We had a fab time in Paris!!!!

Great time in Paris!

We were so glad we chose this apartment for our first time visit to Paris. We loved that it was "off the beaten path" as it allowed us to experience more of Paris than the tourist areas. The apartment was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Our host was very pleasant and provided some great restaurant recommendations (the restaurant across the street had fabulous lamb...). The apartment was close to the metro, a Sunday and Thursday market and within walking distance to Marais, Isle of St. Louis and Notre Dame. We would definitely choose to stay here the next time we are in Paris.
