Perfect romantic retreat

We stayed here and had a great time. We said we would like to return for another trip.
Unfortunately, after we checked out, they charged us to replace their sheets. they said there was a stain that they couldn't get out. when we left we took the sheets off the bed and there weren't any stains. We contacted the property manager and tried to resolve the situation. The sheets they were replacing were ruff and itchy. maybe 300 thread count. They charged us $50.00 bucks to replace what was maybe a $20.00 set of sheets (twin bed). i offered to purchase new ones and ship them to the property but they prefered to charge us the $50.00 stating that they had to find a certain thread count sheet. We were upset to find out that they wouldn't work with us to resolve the situation. This was a bogus charge and we wouldn't stay here again knowing how they treat you after check out.

We stayed 3 nights in the cottage and really enjoyed it. It is decorated very nicely and everything was clean and new looking. The location is amazing. Right on the river and seriously about a 3 minute drive to downtown Gruene. We had a really fun time on the property relaxing in the river, BBQing, and just sitting on the deck enjoying the view. The only thing that I would say is a con is that there is no stove top, but not a big deal...we knew that before we came and just cooked everything on the grill. I will DEFINITELY stay there again, and would recommend it to a friend! Thanks Michelle for a great stay, and for your friendly correspondence.

My fiance and I stayed at the cottage for 3 nights in May 2009 and had an amazing time! The cottage is very cute and well maintained. The masterbed is very comfortable. The best part is the view of the river and nature from the back porch and the private pier. This is a place we'll be coming back to!

FABULOUS is the best description for our stay at the Gruene Oaks Lodge! We had a wonderful 3 night stay! The cottage accomodations were very nice! My only wish was that the only bathroom was not in the master bedroom. The grounds are also beautiful and the place is extremely well maintained! We are already planning our next trip back!

After browsing online for the perfect spot to take my boyfriend coming into Texas from Cali for Easter, I was delighted to find this treasure by the river. Everything was clean and fresh when we arrived, Michelle was kind and very friendly in communicting check in and directions.
I am looking forward to my next tranquil stay and next time I think we will be renting the big house. The only thing missing is a bath tub, as I am a bubble bath girl and that would only add to the romance of the place. A clawfoot on the balcony behind the trees would be a delight:) Thank you for everything Michelle including some new memories+*+****

We travel to Gruene 6 to 8 times a year. The location of the cabin is perfect for relaxing,swimming, shopping or anything else one wants in a hill country visit.The cabin,grounds and management are first class. It's a BIG 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.

This is a very lovely cottage. It was so comfortable. The view of the river is spectacular and we loved the floating pier. Even though the water was cold for spring break, my daughter and I took advantage of the kyaks that are provided. We will definatly return.

Our stay in the cottage at Gruene Oaks Lodge was very enjoyable. The cottage was better and larger than we expected. There were 6 of us, 2 adults & 4 kids. The location was also good, close to Gruene, San Antonio and The Natural Bridge Cave. We also enjoyed the kayaks. The view of the river from the deck was also nice. I would recommend this place.
