Although there will be no reason to leave, the home is situated at the center of the Berkshire cultural and recreational scene. Within 1 mile of Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and minutes from world renowned wellness venues Kripalu Yoga Center and Canyon Ranch. Close proximity to movie theaters, Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, Barrington Stage Company, Shakespeare and Company, Berkshire Theater Festival, Bershire Museum and much more. Unlimited opportunities for hiking, boating, swimming, biking and bird watching. Great restaurants in West Stockbridge, Lenox and Great Barrington, offering diverse options..... all within close proximity of this home.

People LOVE our home: Testimonial- One of the most truly relaxing vacations we've ever had. Every year my 2 sister's, brother and spouses take a fall vacation. I found this great house to accomadate all our needs. I contacted the owner and the rest is history. Joe was great. Willing to rent to us on such short notice. We spoke several times and emailed almost daily. When we arrived Joe was there to meet all of us! The house was most inviting and comfortable. I loved that there were several rooms that you could go to to have your space. Plenty of room for everyone. Whether the ladies were in the huge diningroom having coffee or the men were watching tv. We all felt right at home. The house was most inviting and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!!

Shopping: Berkshire Mall is approx 15 miles away which includes several large retailers, Best Buy, Sears a multi plex movie theater, and restaurants. The Lee Outlets are approx 12 miles away and contain outlets for all major stores including Gap, Calvin Klein, Brooks Brothers etc. In addition specialty shops can be found in the town of Lenox, West Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Great Barrington, Pittsfied and Williamstown.

Never had to leave the house: Testimonial- The house had so many distinct rooms that whomever I was talking to felt as if we had the whole house to ourselves. Lot's of rooms, plently of different places to relax and eat and beautiful gardens in both front and back. We have been renting homes in many different areas with our family now, for over 15 years, and this house felt the most like home than anywhere else we've stayed. The home is not available most time of the year but whatever season we want to get away, we'll always check to see if this house is available.

Why Joseph Corcoran chose Richmond

We bought this home as a weekend house in 2001, and loved the area so much we moved our family from NYC, in 2007, to live in a painting all year round. Perfect location and accessible to all areas of the Berkshires. Close to schools and an easy drive to NYC.

What makes this house unique

Location, charm, accessibility to restaurants, shopping, the movies etc. Our house has the most fantastic screened in porch I have ever seen. We spend all of our time out there, including most of our meals. Extremely rich curtural scene with many artists, theater and it's own film festival. As a New Yorker all my life we normally would travel to the Long Island beaches for vacations. Though no ocean, the Berkshires remains an unassuming jewel, which is why we love it.

Jiminy Peak Ski Trip

Submitted: April 8, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
Great place and great owner. We rented it for a Jiminy Peak ski trip. Although there were closer places, this place was still close for us (around 30 min) and was just wonderful. Hot tub, fireplace, excellent condition. Owner was very flexible, accommodating and responsive - house was well stocked with extra towels, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. There was also a fire pit and screen porch that we didn't get a chance to use since it was winter, but there was plenty of space for 10 adults. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back. It probably was one of the nicest places we stayed for a ski trip.

Fabulous Family Vacation!

5 of 5
Submitted: January 6, 2013 Stayed: July 2012
We rented this wonderful house for our annual family vacation. It was perfect! We spent most of our time on the screened-in porch -- it was a wonderful place for my 15-month-old grandson to safely play, for delightful candle-lit meals and board games on lazy afternoons. The bedrooms allowed plenty of privacy for each family member and the 3rd floor was nice and roomy for the baby and his parents. It's close to Tanglewood, golf and lake swimming -- all of which we enjoyed. And Joe recommended the little french restaurant down the hill -- a great find. We will definitely be back!

Nothing like a Berkshires Christmas

5 of 5
Submitted: January 2, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
Over a year ago we decided to head home for Christmas. It had been a long time since we'd been back, so it had to be right. I spent 4 months deciding on a place to rent. The first time I talked to Joe on the phone I knew we had chosen the right place.

After a week in his beautiful home, our entire family agreed, {7 adults, 2 kids, & 3 dogs} the place was perfect! The home is spacious, room to gather and room to find your own space. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. Fires in the fireplaces {ample cut firewood}, and moonlit nights in the jacuzzi w/ the snow coming down were a huge hit. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks, and all of us were able to be seated comfortably around the large dining room table. The piano was a wonderful bonus for our 3 piano players. The large fenced in backyard was great fun for our dogs. That was obvious by how well they slept when they came inside.

Two other things need to be mentioned. Joe, the owner, could not have been more accommodating or friendly. His goal was for us to have a family memory that would last a lifetime. He succeeded. Also, the location was ideal. The house is located in the midst of a beautiful countryside that gives the Berkshires its charm, and yet conveniently located for sightseeing. We skied at Jiminy Peak & Bousquet's, ate at the Red Lion Inn, picked up some fresh cider from Bartlett's, went to a play in Pittsfield, and visited some places of personal interest, all w/in a short distance from "home."

Our love & thanks go to Joe and his wife. We will be back!

Quiet & Private; Yet Close to Everything

Quiet & Private; Yet Close to Everything

5 of us shared the house for the weekend for a mini college reunion; it was exactly as described in the listing and it more than met our expectations.

The home was large enough to give each of us (5 women) our own space (bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.), yet the spaces are cozy enough to invite gatherings and conversation. Mornings we sat in the well-stocked kitchen or in one of the adjacent rooms where we could spread out. We spent one early evening on the screened in porch, another on the rear porch -- enjoying the hot tub!

Although Richmond is remote, which was fine with us, it's literally within minutes of so many other things to do! Families with kids should definitely check out Bash Bish Falls which is on the NY / MA border.

Joe and Karen could not have been more accommodating -- checking in to make sure everything was OK, providing dinner recommendations, etc.

Highly recommend!

Our family rented Joe's house for a week in August to celebrate my father's 90th birthday. We were a party of 10 ranging in age from 18-90 yrs old. It was a challenge to find a home that would both allow for family "togetherness", yet also allow us to have some private space as well. This house met all our needs and them some. The house is spacious and exudes a homey, comfortable feel. It is the owner's primary residence and has that perfect lived in feel, complete with books, games, videos, etc. We immediately felt right at home.We enjoyed breakfast on the screened in porch, dinner in the dining room, and evenings in the hot tub. The barbecue grill and multiple firepits were a real hit as well. The location was also excellent. We found good restaurants in Lenox, Pittsfield, and West Stockbridge, played golf, went horseback riding, hiked, visited museums and even had a "spa" afternoon. Evenings found us at Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, Stockbridge Theater, Jacob's Pillow and "The Capital Steps". Joe was very personable and helpful in all phases of the trip planning and checked in with us by phone to make sure there were no problems. One of the highlights of the week for my dad, was a catered dinner, cooked and served at the house, including a special birthday cake! Joe found us the perfect caterer- providing the perfect end to a perfect week. We are still talking about our wonderful stay. Thanks Joe!

Perfect Large-Group Getaway

We rented this gem of a house for Memorial Day 2012 to get together with some out of state friends - there were 4 couples and some of us brought our kids. We all had a blast! The house is in a great location, near Lenox, Stockbridge and Mt. Greylock national park. The house was beautiful, with lots of character, and fully stocked with kitchen appliances, movies and books. There were multiple TV sets, as well as places to play music, and the hot tub on the deck was a nice luxury and easy to use. The kids loved the hot tub, the hammock, toasting marshmallows on the fire pits and the drum set. The owners were a pleasure to deal with before, during and after our stay, and our biggest issue was not wanting to leave. The bedrooms are laid out to give everyone privacy and there was also no shortage of bathrooms. The claw-foot tubs were also great to relax in. Also loved the huge screened in porch. Hope to be back!

Great Getaway/Superior Rental

5 of 5
Submitted: May 16, 2012 Stayed: April 2012
Five of us, two couples and a friend, had the pleasure of renting Joe's house for a weekend in April as a getaway. Joe and his son, Jack, met us to show us the house. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The house is spacious and both beautifully appointed and comfortable/homey with great furniture and lots of interesting books. The kitchen is top notch. There are two firepits outside and two fireplaces inside which were used to take the chill off on the April nights; plenty of wood is provided. The yard is spacious and the back fenced in which was excellent for letting the dogs out. We enjoyed days and starry nights in the pristine hottub on the secluded back deck. The location in Richmond is a short easy drive to West Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Lenox and Pittsfield where there are many fine restaurants and places of interest to visit. It's just as much fun to hang out at Joe's house, deck, yard and hottub and take in the beauty of the natural surroundings. In fact, we saw a pair pileated woodpeckers (the largest woodpecker, about the size of a crow, and that looks like "Woody Woodpecker") from Joe's deck! First time seeng that bird. I would highly recommend this property. Without doubt, we will be back many times in the future as our schedules permit. Donna

Perfect ski weekend!

My friends and I rented this property for a weekend of skiing and relaxation. We could not have been happier with this beautiful home! Everything was perfect, from the attentive caretaker giving us a highly detailed tour of the place, to the clean and cozy atmosphere of the house. One of the highlights of the weekend was being able to come back after a day of skiing at the nearby Butternut mountain and cook a big family dinner and relax in the hot tub! Our interactions with Joe were extremely pleasant, and he was very accommodating, and even checked in on us to make sure everything was going ok. Overall, we were highly satisfied with our stay and would recommend this house in a minute to anyone looking for a weekend away. We may even return in the summer! Thank you for everything!

Great house, great experience

Fantastic house and overall great experience. We had six adults, two toddlers, one newborn infant, and one sleepy dog. More than enough space in the house for our group, and plenty of entertainment for the kids. This is the owners' residence, which means everything is fully-stocked, from the kitchen appliances and cookware to the bookshelves and video collection. Owner encouraged us to feel right at home, and it was not difficult. House is in beautiful location- isolated from neighbors and a reasonable drive from Lenox and the Mass Pike. Also the dog thought the fenced-in yard was a nice escape every time the kids decided it was time to ride her like a horse. One of the nicest rental properties we've found for the money, highly recommend.
Owner's Response: Tom- Glad to hear you and your family were so comfortable in our home. We too love children so there is plenty of games, books, and even cable/netflix to keep everyone entertained in front of the fire on a cold winter night. We will be making the home available for rent for just a few weeks this summer. Once you experience dining and hanging out on our huge screened in porch, and exploring our beautifully landscaped property I'm sure you'll love it. Come back again. We love families and always looking to attract respectful people who treat our home like their own.

We were three families -- six adults and four kids -- and stayed for four nights.

The house is spacious: the piano room, the downstairs space, the attic space, all this gives enough space for the kids to play (including with the drum set upstairs). It is very well decorated. It feels lived in, with nice and comfortable furniture, books, pictures and photographs.

The kitchen is in great shape with perfect appliances, good pots and pans, lots of knives that cut quite a bit better than in your average rental house. There are spices aplenty.

The house is very quiet at night, whether you are in bed or in the jacuzzi.

In summary, we will come back.
Owner's Response: We're very pleased you enjoyed yourself in our home. Important to point out that this remains our families' primary residence, and is not available most times. Reason we are renting is to help defer education costs with one son in boarding school, and both my daughter and wife in college. Really appreciate families and guests who respect our home and treat it like their own. Thank you for being such a respectful guest(s) Please come back and see us some time.
