Well, I must say that I have never cried leaving a place before. We have traveled all over including Kenya and Belize, many cities in Europe and in multiple states in the US, and as much as I enjoy the trips, I am always ready to go home. Not this time! I already love Santa Fe so much, but this absolutely incredible home in the foothills took it to a whole new level. The stunning setting, multiple decks, and breathtaking views are more incredible than we have ever experienced. Inside, the tastefully decorated rooms, comfortable beds, numerous seating areas and reading nooks, and of course all of the incredible art made it feel like we were staying in a museum. Carol and Stephen, your love of that home, and of Santa Fe, is so apparent, and we share it with you. I am so grateful that you are willing to share your home. I don't think I would be able to trust others in it if it were mine.
All 8 of us enjoyed making meals in the well-stocked kitchen and taking in the sunrises and sunsets on the decks. Watching the birds at the feeders was a treat. A short 15 minute drive into town for anything you could need, but then to come home to this amazing place, away from it all, was pure heaven on earth. My only disappointment is that I can never again experience walking into this home for the first time! What fun to walk through the rooms, up and down staircases, thrilled to find THREE beautiful master bedrooms, so no one felt shorted here!! The owners, Carol and Stephen, are wonderful people who were so patient, understanding, and flexible with our frequently-changing arrival date. To top it off, my mother left her sweaters in a drawer at their house, and she was so amazed when they showed up at her house! Not many people would go to the trouble to send those back. Suffice to say that the town, the surroundings, the owners, and this house, are all top-notch. You will NOT be disappointed. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back. Thank you, again, for being willing to share this magical place with others.

A Peaceful Stay and Wonderful Views

Casa de Musica proved to be an ideal get-away haven for four of us intent on finding a week's peace and quiet. I love the sparse beauty of the southwest, so expansive views were high on my list for a vacation rental. The house is on the high ground just north of the Veteran's Memorial Highway, which gives it unobstructed views of the Sangre de Christo range and Jemez mountains. I especially loved the perfect view of the lights of Los Alamos at night. There are all sorts of nooks and spaces for anyone wanting to find a cozy place to read (or nap), along with three enormous bedrooms with en-suite baths. The kitchen would be a bit small if one was creating a feast for a dozen, but was perfect for our needs. It is not a house for those with mobility difficulties, as there are steps and sunken spaces (and a tiny step up into the dining room which tripped me for the first three days!) but otherwise the varied rooms and levels provide much of the house's fascination and charm. The owners provided us with ample information prior to arriving, and there are a number of guide books and brochures in the house itself.
There's nothing like having a home when you are away from home. Casa de Musica met every expectation and contributed to a great vacation.

Even better than anticipated

We'd planned a post-holiday getaway with another couple and my choice of Casa De Musica was certainly right in tune. All of us have been to Santa Fe and the surrounding area numerous times and we wanted a house that would fit two couples well. i.e. more than just a master suite and lesser bedrooms. While the house can accommodate more than four (we never used the lower level suite), we found that both the upper level suite and the main floor suite were huge, quiet and comfortable. Beds and linens were top notch and we never ran out of hot water in the large showers.
We found that the smaller, yet lacking nothing, kitchen was good for us, as other than breakfast, we tended to dine out or exist on snacks and wine in front of the television. As we were winter visitors, staying cozy was at the top of the list and we never even touched the perfectly set thermostats. The heated floors in the suites were just warm enough and the radiant heat was silent, just like the outdoors. While is seemed we were miles and miles from town, it was only a 10 minute drive to the Plaza. And the views!
The television display (Directv-powered) was easy to use and had numerous channels and a DVR. Wifi worked fine as well, plus we used the upstairs Mac to check in and print our boarding passes.
The collection of art and furnishings was unique for a VRBO home and fascinating. So many nooks and crannies to go find a quiet spot to read.
This was a great destination and we hope to return for a summer visit at some future time to take advantage of the decks and patios which also provided outdoor grills.

A Magnificent Property

A perfect setting to celebrate the Thanksgiving holidays and our 35th wedding anniversary with our family. Casa De Musica has it all and completely met our every expectation. The professional photographers and videographers in our family especially appreciated the stunning pictures they captured from the roof top deck where we gathered several nights to take in those famous New Mexico sunsets. The house is beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The piano is a special touch as there is almost always someone in a group who will give it a try and pianos have a way of bringing people together. It was hard to leave on several mornings to take advantage of the many things to do in Santa Fe and the surrounding area, but a real pleasure to pull up to the gate in the evenings. We left behind some wonderful memories, and hope to return again someday.

Beautifully designed and filled with wonderful artifacts. Has a real Santa Fe feel! Plenty of room for sleeping and conversations. Somewhat small kitchen for such a large and beautiful home. Scenery breaktaking.

This property is spectacular! We felt like we were staying at a museum. Their collections of musical instruments, native american and southwestern artifacts are beautifully displayed. We noticed something new everytime we walked into a room. The owners were very cordial and promptly addressed our questions prior to and during our stay. Would not choose this property if you have young children. Their irreplacable fragile treasures are too tempting for little fingers to touch. Also, there are step downs/ups in most rooms so anyone that has difficulty with balance or ambulation would have a increased risk for falling.

Unbelievably Beautiful Family Vacation

My husband and I took our adult children to Santa Fe, and stayed in this beautiful home. It was PERFECT!! The pictures and description online were accurate, but could not possibly capture the true Santa Fe experience of this home. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The owners were fantastic! They were available to answer questions, and provided such amazing hospitality! The views are fabulous, and there are several decks that offer different views of the area. I loved playing the piano.
The art and decor are wonderful!! I would not recommend this home for small children, as there are many beautiful pieces that would "interest" little hands!
I would SO recommend this property!! We will stay there again when we visit the area!!!

Had a girls weekend with five people. The house had lots of room so that we each could have our own private space. It's a beautiful home that is very clean and well maintained. It is decorated beautifully. It is not too far from town but still felt very private. I would definitely recommend this property.

this is a great place!! it is huge!! the house is very comfortable and spacious. the views are amazing. we spent our honeymoon here and i would love to come every year for our anniversary!! there is so much more to this house than the pics on the web site allow you to see. it is quiet and peaceful yet only 10 minutes from downtown santa fe where u can find plenty to do such as visit numerous art galleries, fine and casual dining, historical sights ect.... if you like to shop, santa fe is for you. our entire stay was blessed with beautiful blue sunny skies and temps in the 50-60's one day it did snow and i took several pics of this property with the fresh white fallen snow. i thought the property was beautiful viewed in the sun but it was absolutely amazing with a fresh coat of snow. it was so warm and cozy with fire burning in the kiva fireplaces, just totally relaxing. you would be amazed at all of the artwork and decor this place has. the owners made the entire rental process hassle free and they were so pleasant to deal with. they treat you like they have known you all your life. i highly recommend this place to anyone vacationing in santa fe nm.
