Absolutely perfect vacation spot

Anne S. Oakland, CA
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We've been going to Water Haven once or twice a year for a decade, and we hope it will be available forever. We've gone for romantic getaways as a couple, as well as for a week with our son and another family. It's more beautiful than the pictures show, with many lovely, unique touches. It's a real gem. The owner has great taste and outfitted the house as a real home - beautiful and clean.

A couple of times we were there in the winter. Even though there were plenty of breaks in the rain when we could have gone out, we discovered that we just LOVED being home all day. Between the incredibly comfortable bed, wonderful kitchen and dining room, and cosy futon for watching movies, we had a fabulous time. Other times we went on adventures - hikes in Armstrong Woods, trips to the ocean, kayak rental on the Russian River, mini-golf, strolling in town, etc. Whether we spent more time indoors or out, we've always had a great time. I've recommended this spot to friends and every one has thanked me and wanted to go again.

One time the hot water heater broke down, and we were very happy with how the owners dealt with the situation - very promptly and courteously. In a way, I feel MORE confident about this place after this incident because I really appreciated how the owners dealt with it. Problems occur in any home, but not every owner deals with them so well....

I really can't imagine a more perfect vacation rental if you're looking for a home you'll love to be in.

Great river front house!

JEP47 San Francisco
Review Submitted: December 2, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
This was a great house and was perfect for our purposes! The house was clean, beautiful, bright and open with plenty of space for a group both inside and out. Though there are neighbors on either side, the house was extremely quiet, private and relaxing and the river front location allowed for some good afternoon lounging on the water and in the sun. The location was convenient to downtown Guerneville, especially by bike, and it's hard to beat the heart of the wine country! The owner was very professional, friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly. The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the house needs wireless internet!

Spacious, Restful, Beautiful

Review Submitted: November 17, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I have gone back to this beautiful home again and again -- it's such a wonderful place for rest and rejuvenation. The house itself is even more beautiful than the photos suggest. It's spacious and airy, with beautiful sunlight at all hours of the day. Each time I've been there, the house has been meticulously clean. There are lots of amenities that I particularly enjoy -- an extra-large bathtub and spacious, beautifully tiled shower area; a fully-equipped kitchen with lots of space to cook; a comfy window-seat that overlooks the greenery and the river. The hot tub is a great spot to watch the stars come out.

I always hike in Armstrong Woods when I stay here -- it's a stunning redwood forest about 10 minutes away, And the coast nearby is uncrowded and beautiful; I've frequently seen seals resting on shore, and lots of shore birds.

I've recommended the place to many friends -- my only hesitation in doing so is that it might be rented when I want to go stay there!

Relaxing Spacious Home

VFR800 Carmel, CA
Review Submitted: November 16, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We've rented alot of homes throughout the west coast and this is one of the best in terms of sheer cleanliness and spaciousness. There's nothing better than coming into a clean, well-cared for home to make one feel comfortable. The back deck and expansive back yard is great for kids to run and play. Our three year old son loved the playground and easy river access that is only a five minute walk down the street. Both bathrooms are nice and big, one has a nice tub too. Downtown Guerneville is only a five minute drive and the Pacific Coast is maybe 25 minutes further; there's some great beaches and easy places to go walking/hiking. Armstrong Woods State Park is very close by and highly recommended; a great place to keep cool on a hot day. It's free to park outside and walk in.

A slice of heaven

This is an ideal vacation getaway. The house is large, beautiful and clean. It overlooks the river and is under a canopy of old, old trees. The kitchen is well-appointed so cooking at-home is easy. All of the bedrooms are great, too. I'm not much of a swimmer, but the backyard rolls right down to the river.

Wonderful stay!

wonderful stay! Charleston, SC
Review Submitted: November 15, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I recently stayed at the Mayim House with a group of girl friends and the stay was wonderful! The house sits right on the Russian River which provided a nice refreshing place to take a swim each day! The rooms are cozy and comfortable and the back deck provided us a perfect place to eat, drink and catch up during the cool California nights. It was also in a great location which allowed us to take day trips and really enjoy what the area had to offer. Thanks for making our trip so great!!

A great place to relax

Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
I have gone to this house several times and find it very comfortable and relaxing. It is flexibly accommodates different groups - whether it be families, or adults only. It is light filled and the open floor plan encourages interaction. Last time I went I met 5 friends from all over the country who wanted to catch up and vacation in northern Ca. They loved the house. It is located near wineries, the ocean, a state park and the house is a great place to just be. I highly recommend this house.

Peaceful retreat

Ljoy San Carlos, Cal.
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We had a wonderful stay at Mayim House. It was perfect for 2 couples plus a few friends to relax and enjoy the tranquil Russian River setting. It would also work well for families with children. My husband and I kayaked on the river (we brought our own) from the back of the property which was a bit challenging to get in the kayak but we managed. (a dock would be nice) The house is just a quick drive to Johnson's Beach where our group kayaked and played for a few hours, then headed back to the house to make our lunch in the well-equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was just outside our bedroom door which was really nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Great riverfront getaway house

swad Oakland, CA
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I love our stays in this house. It's such a clean, well set up house. i especially always find time to hang out in the dining room window seat that overlooks the backyard and the river. My family laughs at me because i never want to leave that spot. They love the hot tub out on the back deck. The house is only a 30 minute drive to the ocean and there is wine tasting at any number of wineries in the area.
The kids love going to the house because there is always plenty to do.

Perfect private getaway

Fatté Calistoga, CA, usa
Review Submitted: November 12, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This rental was the perfect choice for our "womans' getaway" weekend. Great lawn area set right on the river, lounge chairs under the trees, a large hot tub and spacious kitchen and entertaining area all made for a relaxing weekend for the 8 of us. We also had a wonderful time at Bucks, the local restaurant that the owner had suggested. Very happy with our experience - thank you!
